    Smoked Ribeye
    Bill S.

Every time I travel down south I look for Mission BBQ. *MB, why aren't you in New York?? Driving by, there was big sign: Smoked Ribeye Now a Ribeye is an attention getter. I drove in and was greeted by a friendly counter person. One smoked Ribeye please with a sweet tea ( I'm down south ya know ) and Cole slaw. I'm a Veteran, is there a discount? There isn't but here's extra corn bread. And thank you for your service! The smoked Ribeye was most excellent. Man... Mission BBQ just makes a righteous Q. Smoked meats, various sauces, patriotic staff, Merica!

I love Mission BBQ! We got a catering for my wedding reception and it was a huge hit for the guests. It was affordable and service was fantastic. The manager was friendly and we had a couple of emails and meeting for the event in advance which was nice and smooth. After my successful event with Mission BBQ, I came back for dinner and it was so good! All staff are kind and food is amazing.

I finally was able to visit Mission BBQ in Westminster Maryland on Father's Day, 2025. Many friends have told me I must try it as it is very good. Well, they weren't joking. When we first walked in the door we were welcomed by a very friendly staff. The ambiance of Mission BBQ is very good. We both had a pulled pork sandwich. He opted for the cole slaw and I got the potato salad. Very very good. There was a nice guy named Boston who came around to see if everything was ok and struck up a conversation with him. He told me that he has worked at many places but loves his job here. A well treated employee is a happy employee so I believe they must be food to their people. I highly recommend Mission BBQ if you love good food, good service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

We popped in for lunch after a shopping excursion. I ordered the brisket meal with sides- side salad and fries and hu y had the pick three meat sample (chicken, pork, brisket) with sides, pork & beans and fries. The only negative the fries were overly salty. The drinks were very good. I think they have the best iced sweet and unsweetened tea I had more room for the salad and was full after a few bites. So we took our food home for leftovers. Which was just as good.

Nice place. The employees were super nice too. Food was hot and fresh. Prices were reasonable for barbeque. Would visit again!

It's a chain, but it's surprisingly good. The food comes out too quick to be made-to-order. That being said, I do believe it is cooked in large batches the same day. It tastes very good. I tried the lean brisket, the cheddar jalapeño sausage, and the pulled pork. All were excellent and I'd highly recommend to anyone. I cleaned the plate along with their Mac n' cheese and slaw. Service staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We came back again for lunch before we left.

Great food, friendly service, and great honoring of our vets! I really like this place. They have special up front parking for veterans, and free food for Vietnam Veterans on March 29th. (Very nice promotions for veterans!) I had the 2 meat platter and loved the pulled pork and moist brisket. The brisket is probably the best that I've ever had! Also loved the creamy Cole slaw. (The variety of sides was really nice, too.) Everything about the restaurant was super clean and well kept. This will definitely be my go-to for barbeque in the area!

It was our first time at Mission BBQ, and we had a great experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cashier that took our order was knowledgeable and friendly. The price points were affordable for quick and tasty bbq. I ordered the two meat platter with moist brisket and bbq ribs with sides of Mac and cheese and potato salad. Everything was delicious! To top it off I had the peach cobbler for dessert, which warm, sweet and it was fantastic. I definitely would come here again! And Treyvon had excellent customer service skills and made our family feel welcomed tonight. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was casual.

I've eaten at this Black Hog location (and their ones in downtown Frederick and Urbana) many times. All produce reasonable 'que - not award winning, but consistent and decent quality. Today's choice was a brisket sandwich. The meat was nicely cooked, and the bark looked nice, but it was underseasoned. As a result, it had no punch on the first bite or any that followed. I generally don't like to put sauce on brisket. The bark and the meat should speak for themselves, but in this case, I decided to try the three sauces that came with it: vinegar (Really? For brisket?), a sweet Memphis style, and a thicker Kansas City style. The latter two were too sweet for brisket, and the former was, well, an abomination. IMHO. The sandwich came with one side. I got potato salad, which also needed some pickle pieces, onions, paprika, cayenne - anything that added punch. Not the worst I've had in town, but not the best. (Yeah, yeah, I know it's subjective, but I'll stack my potato salad against anyone's. My Aunt Helen taught me well). Oh, I'll be back, don't you worry. Black Hog serves a consistent, decent product that is the best available in Frederick It's just not close to what I can eat from any of the countless hole-in-the-wall joints pretty much anywhere in Texas. But it's a much shorter drive...

I was generous and rounded my review up to 4 stars but a 3.5 star review is more accurate of this restaurant. The restaurant is clean and bright, has plenty of seating, rooftop outdoor space, and a private parking lot. The staff were friendly and attentive and were happy to give recommendations on what to order. I ordered the two meat platter picking brisket and Arkansas brisket (burnt ends). Food came out fast and was fresh. All the meat was wonderfully cooked (having lived in OK and TX I am particular about bbq). I would have liked a little more "bark" on the brisket but that's a personal preference. The MD baked beans were one of my sides and they were impressive. Good flavor with some spice to them but they did have ZERO smoke taste. The Mac and Cheese also had ZERO smoke taste, was not hot, and lacked the creaminess I was looking for. I would not recommend the Mac and cheese. Corn bread was dry... no surprise there. In summary - the meats are good, the sides are hit and miss. I would like to see them offer a 3 or 4 meat meal option so an individual could really sample the menu.

We ordered a bit of everything from the standard and kids' menus. Our favorites were the pulled pork tacos, the flounder sandwich (my personal favorite), and the from-scratch mac and cheese. We opted to sit outside since we had our dog with us. The server was very friendly, with great service and they are very dog friendly and had water bowls outside for them. I am from Eastern NC, so I have a pretty good idea of bbq and BC staples. I decided to try the flounder rather than the bbq this time. The founder was disappointing. It was a bit on the bland side and the batter is a little confusing. I was expecting a cornmeal style batter or similar, but got something different. The fish itself had potential to be very good. The beans also left a lot to be desired, just lacked flavor and taste. The business looks like they do a lot of catering as opposed to dining (possible a lot of to go orders, too).
