Pulled chicken sandwich, green beans, blueberry cobbler, and a medium sized drink ~$17
Allison B.

When I walked up I saw that they had reserved parking for veterans which I thought was pretty nice. They clearly are very into anyone who serves in the military, police and fire departments. This is pretty apparent in the restaurant décor - lots of uniform memorabilia and the like. I couldn't tell if they were all local heroes or just canned material that their corporate sent them to decorate with. The music is kind of loud and country, which is not my jam, so I did not intend to linger. The seating is very industrial looking, not too bad comfort wise. Most of the people that were there eating lunch were middle aged to older white guys, I was I think the only lady there dining so I felt kind of uncomfortable in that sense, but not threatened. Ordering at the counter was easy, and they were very helpful and even let me sample anything I wanted to before I bought it - which is really nice since the prices are a bit steep. A sandwich is about $9-$11, which is a bit expensive considering the price does not include a side by default. Sides are around $2.50 per portion. I was bummed to find out after I had paid that this is a Pepsi establishment - I would have just gotten a water had I known. They do have Dr. Pepper though so I'll let it slide. They have a large assortment of sides you'd expect at a barbecue joint. I tried the green beans with bacon and they were really good but they were also VERY salty and maybe had some sort of sugar in them too. I'd say that is a common theme for most of the food I got. My chicken was salty, but moist and tasty. I wouldn't get the sandwich version again - the bun fell apart because it was too soft and also it tasted like they put butter on it. They have 6 different style sauces on the table and they are all good. No super spicy sauces, some are pretty sweet, and some are nice and tangy. They also have vinegar on the table I assume for fries. They threw in a blueberry cobbler for free since it was my first time there. It was served nice and hot, good texture and flavor although way too sweet for my liking. If they could cut it with some cream or just used less sugar I think that would have helped. I can tell they make everything fresh there - everything tasted good! I just wish they'd use less salt and sugar and turn down the country music a bit.

Well well well........ looka here..... they really brought BarBQ back. Our city has been missing a central spot, central as compared to other locations, for good BarBQ. This truly hits the spot. The ribs are seasoned well ( I can tell they use a good rub that is allowed to marinate) and fall off the bone tender. The pulled chicken was a good mix of of breast/ thigh meat. It had a good Smokey flavor, moist, and tender. The restaurant is easy to locate off the main thoroughfare and has plenty of parking. They seem to have a great staff of friendly folks. I'm so glad we stopped in.

Meat sampler. 3 meats. Delicious!! (Brisket, chicken, sausage)

I thought this place was pretty solid! Prior to this place opening, we had always gotten our bbq from Lucille's. Lucille's bbq sauces and sides, blow Mission out of the water. But Mission is still a good option! I got the pulled pork sandwich and the Mac and cheese. My husband got the meat sampler with 3 meats. (Chicken, brisket, and jalapeño cheese sausage) The food came out quickly and the service was EXCELLENT!! They don't have microwaves or freezers. Which I think is awesome. If you get a beer, you get a koozie with it that you get to keep. The food: The Mac and cheese was just okay. But other than that, it was really good!!! The brisket was falling apart. And the chicken was so juicy and flavorful!! I could've drank a gallon of their sweet tea!! It was very good. They have several sauces on the tables to choose from. None of them really blew my socks off. But there seems to be one from every taste. The atmosphere: It was super awesome to see so many pictures of our local police officers and firefighters. And of course local military individuals. I loved the seating. There are wooden picnic tables, booths, and tables and chairs. We will definitely be back!

Decent BBQ joint on North end of town…read more.. Dropped by Lucille's for the first time on Friday for a work lunch with the crew... Been meaning/wanting to try for a while, but have never got around to it. Ok experience, but there's some areas of attention needed. Pros: Friendly/quick service, outstanding brisket, excellent bbq sauces (I particularly liked the vinegar and spicy sauces), and large portions. Cons: Over-priced, average at best sides, extremely smoky in dining room, and dirty/run down restaurant. Overall our experience was good, but the smoke in the dining room was a real problem that actually had my eyes burning/watering while we were eating (it literally looked like an AARP Club Catholic Church bingo event, it was that smoky inside the restaurant), the food is stupid expensive ($35 lunch, one person), and the sides just weren't good (bland coleslaw and broccoli salad). The restaurant also needs a facelift and desperate deep clean... It had that dirty, grimy, sticky feel on the floors and tables (presumably from all the smoke in the dining room). I still consider Shigs n' Pit to be the far and wide the best BBQ in town, but Lucille's has the potential to be really good if they can make some adjustments, improvements, and clean the place up.

Sweet Smoked Pork Steak with BBQ sauce (Lucille's BBQ, north Lima Road) - tried something…read moredifferent, good value and very tasty I prefer Lucille's BBQ plate selections as I feel they give me good value. A select smoked meat with two sides for $14-16. This gives you a good all around taste of Lucille's offerings. On this trip I selected the sweet smoked pork steak with Mac & Cheese and Wilson baked beans. The entree was $14. The pork steak was a thinly cut piece of pork - maybe 3/4 inch thick. The steak definitely had hints of smokey and grilled flavors. The meat was tender, no pink color and moist. It was easily cut when warm, not as easy as it cooled. This is a large flat piece of meat so it took time to cut into pieces and savor. The BBQ sauce was sweet with no real spicy after taste kick. Glad I tried this selection. I really like the Mac & Cheese as it is very creamy and has a nice cheese flavor. The sauce has some jalapeño pieces - so expect a little heat and kick. The Wilson baked beans are also a bit spicy. There are small pieces of brisket embedded in the sweet savory BBQ bean sauce. Lucille's has a nice selection of other delicious sides for you to try. Lucille's does a nice job with smoked BBQ meats. Make the trip north to the corner of Lima and Wallen Roads. It's worth a try!

Shigs in Pit (Maplecrest) - excellent choice for BBQ in Fort Wayne…read more Shigs is located north of St. Joe Center road on Maplecrest. It's parking lot is easy in-easy out and has a very large facility. Upon entering you order at the counter from a large menu posted on the wall. They will bring you your selections to the table or carry out counter. The Mad Anthony brewery has an attractive looking bar inside as well. The team here was very friendly and helpful. The facility is very clean, orderly and attractive. The menu is fairly large but perhaps difficult to understand since it is posted on the wall. Cost is fair and moderate. Here is a recap of our food choices: -Wings: predominant smokey flavor, fried and dipped in one of 8 sauces. The wing was nicely cooked - no pink insides. The skin of the wing was a bit cripsier than i would prefer. The Alabama White sauce is mayo based, slightly sweet with not much seasoning or spice. It made the wings nicely moist. The teriyaki sauce is bold, thicker and has a slight back end kick to them. -Cole Slaw: nice fresh and crisp larger slaw pieces, thin mayo base, sligtly sweet but a bit watery -Macaroni salad: thin mayo base that actually came off also a little watery, elbow noodles were cooked perfectly, side veggies had a nice crunch to them, sauce was mildly sweet -Chicken tenders: moist and tender, no real Smokey taste detected, seemed to come off a little dry and tough -Corn "spoon" bread: mild corn taste, bread was moist and sweet, nice blend of corn bread and corn casserole -Tomato & Cucumber salad: very fresh and tasty. Cool veggie and vinegar tastes

ACME by Full Cirlce - definitely a destination for smoked wings!…read more This was my first trip to Acme for wings. I was VERY pleased with the large-jumbo smoked and then grilled wings! I have been here for Legalize Marinara pizza which was also excellent!! The team here is always friendly, welcoming and hustles to serve! We started with some fried pickles and Mac & cheese bits. These seemed like a must try and good value on the 3-6pm Monday through Friday happy hour menu. The fried pickles are a dill pickle spear with a moderate amount of breading. The spear has a nice tart dill taste without an after taste bite. It remained fairly crisp after being fried. The breading was fairly plain to taste. It was soft and only slightly oily. It comes with a cup of pretty standard ranch dressing. I liked the spear and would order these again. The Mac & cheese bits were very small. The inside has a couple of elbow noodles bathed in a mild cheese sauce - I thought they would be much bigger. The noodles were very soft and somewhat mushy. The cheese sauce has a standard creamy American cheese flavor that covered the noodles well. The breading was moderately thick, soft and plain to taste like what was on the fried pickles. I wouldn't order these again. Acme's wing offering can be found under the appetizer section as 8 wings for $14. The broad selection of homemade sauces can be found several menu pages later. We went on a Thursday night at 6pm. On this night they had $1 wings. Normal nights it's an additional $1.75 per wing beyond the initial 8 wing offering. This is pretty pricy for the average wing place. However, these wings were large to jumbo sized, smoked and then grilled. I found good value in the price of these large-smoked wings. The wings were smoked to a point where you pick up a pronounced Smokey flavor. The meat was moist and tender. They were nicely cooked to a white color with a tinge of pink at times. The wing was then grilled so that there was evidence of charred tips and skin parts. The smoked and grill proceses made for a delious wing. It appears that Acme has about 19 homemade sauces. I chose the blueberry-cherry and spicy garlic Parmesan. Other members of my group had various BBQ flavors with different degrees of heat. They said that they really liked their choices. I look forward to coming back to try more flavors. In general...I would say that Acme designs their flavors to have a "hint" of the intended flavor designed to not over power the smoked meat flavor. That's what they accomplished. The blueberry-cherry was thicker in consistency like you would expect. It was not "jelly" like in taste, sugar or sliminess. The sauce grabbed ahold of the wing nicely. You picked up hints of blueberry and cherry in the blend. Neither dominated the taste and there was no spicy kick here. Nice non-BBQ taste! The spicy garlic Parmesan sauce was also thick and stuck to the wing nicely. I didn't pick up any spicy flavor or after kick. The sauce seemed like it was poured on the wing pretty heavy. It was fairly light on garlic and cheese flavors with perhaps a more buttery-oil taste. Also a nice taste but not near as bold in flavor as most other places. Overall, I really liked their wings. The smoked and grilled flavors were excellent. The blueberry and garlic Parmesan sauces really accented the wings well. I would encourage you to give Acme a try for wings!

So I was craving it again tonight, 02/19/2025 and wanted to try something different. Tried the Bahn Mi pulled pork sandwich. Extremely disappointed, flavors were top notch, but for $17 I would expect a little pulled pork. There were maybe 3 pieces of pork, had there been some to taste, I feel like this sandwich would be killer. My husband tried the Muffaletta, it would have been great had there been olive salad on it. The three bites that had olive salad were amazing. Seriously for the price, fix this! I would have paid double for some meat on there. I still would recommend everyday but make it as good as it sounds. Disappointed, would still go back
