Who puts pineapple in Nengmyun?!?! This is a big no-no

So I was surprised to see a Miss Korea BBQ in Amsterdam. I'm not sure if this is the same owner as the one in New York City, but the restaurant name outside sure had the same font and everything. My sister and I decided to try this place and was excited for an all you can eat BBQ. We walked in without reservation and the hostess told us wait was 2 hours even though the restaurant wasn't even packed so we literally said whatever and put our name down. Went back to our apartment for two hours. Anyway, this is probably the worst Korean BBQ I ever had. To the locals, please don't think this is what Korean BBQ should be like. The meat (galbi) was overly marinated, like soaked in marination, and the other meat we ordered were extremely dry. And, the grill! I don't know any BBQ place that puts parchment paper with oil to cook the meat. Even BBQ places in Korea don't do this! The ventilation is also horrible. You'll reek like the grill. Let me also mention how the order is supposed to be done. So, there are 5 rounds and every round each person gets a max of 3 orders (between me and my sister, we ordered six dishes per round). We're supposed to mark down what we want on this piece of paper they give us. If we don't finish something on a plate, they charge us for not finishing. Needless to say, this place isn't worth the money and two hours of your life

After passing by this restaurant for quite some time and wanting to know how the food would taste like I decided to make a reservation (for the same evening) to put my curiosity to rest... The service was very spontaneous and good at the same time and very punctual. The drinks and food were delivered to the table fast and the food was a choice between ready-to-be-eaten food and food that needed some grilling. The food tasted better than expected as I initially thought that it would be just mostly grilled and though meat. There was a choice for different kind of fish, meat, vegetables, sushi, rice, noodles, and soup. And everything tasted very good. The only 2 things that needed improvement would be the chicken skewers. We had to sent these back twice as they were still raw in the middle. After the second time we decided to replace them with something else. And the second other thing: the heavy smell of food that will stick into your clothes. Beware of that as others will smell you coming after you have visited Miss Korea... She'll stalk you until you take a shower :) But I would surely visit her again!

Eating at Miss Korea means having fun while eating, especially when you're with a large group of people! You sit together at a table with a hot metal plate in the middle where you can put al kind of food. The place looks nice and is quite occupied with lot's of customers, but you can still have a decent conversation when you're among friends but if you're alone with your loved one or with a friend it can be a bit to noisy. The way of ordering food need some explanation. For €26,50 from thursday to sunday and for €24,50 for monday to wednesday you can eat "all you can eat" which is also the slogan of this restaurent. The way it works is as follows, you have five rounds in which you can order three dishes a person for each round. After you're done with round one you can repeat the sequence just described once again until you're done with round five. The only thing you need to know, if you don't finish one meal you need to pay €1,- per sushi or skewer and €3,- per hot or cold dish. You can trust me on this, five times three menu's is more then plenty. Especially when you're among friends where you can share the food all together. I ate with my girlfriend alone this time and we didn't reached round five. We ended up in round four with just one ice scream we both shared. Quality of the food. This is not brilliant but it is decent. The various dishes containing meat are well prepared with spices but the vegetables could be served a bit less simplistic for my taste. The real enjoyment of Miss Korea is not the food itself but the fact you can share the food in a fun way when putting meat on the large grill in the middle of the table, and this is quite fun to do. Rounding up Plusses + quick services between the meals, you don't need to wait between each round + the staff is very friendly + the food is not brilliant but better then average + you get more (!) then enough food for the prize you need to pay for it Minus - vegetables could be served better - it's not to noisy but when filled with people it can be a bit hectic - the place is less suitable for having a romantic dinner with your loved one but pretty nice when you're with a larger group of friends So if you're with your boy- or girlfriend and you're looking for a romantic evening out I would recommend some other place, but when you're among friends then eating at Miss Korea is a happening one should have experienced at least once in your lifetime.

Words cannot explain. It was a night of crazy binge eating so many kinds of korean food!! I had such a dreams come true night here at Miss Korea, you have no idea. If you wanna have this grill experience it would be best if you had reservations so that you wont have any problems being seated at a nice table with your friends. Another advice: you will definitely stink like crazy (because of all the grilling inside) when you spend some time in here;so you best put on something you wont really feel sad when it stinks like that.

I was a regular at this restaurant since it's the only AYCE Korean restaurant in Amsterdam that I know of. Some of the times I went the food was alright and sometimes it was not that good at all .I wasn't happy that they added sausages to the tteokbeokki (spicy rice cakes) without even mentioning it. I love the marinated squid. That's the only thing I love putting on the grill. The sushi tasted terrible honestly, it also crumbled everytime you pick it up. The good thing about this place is the grill, you get raw stuff and you can grill it yourself (it does leave you with a bbq smell when you leave). Most of the workers are kind of friendly. Last time I was terribly disappointed. I took my younger brother with me who was 11 (whom I took more than 3 times with me this year to the same restaurant) and he paid the childeren's price. This time they actually made me pay the full price even though I said last time I came there and had to pay the kids price. I also advise to not go with a big group, you have to wait for a long time and you don't always get the food you asked for.

    All what we ordered :)

We stumbled upon Seoul Food, and we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in, it was difficult to ascertain if it's a mini store, a take away restaurant, and then discovered it's a little bit of everything. You place your order at the counter with the very rude women that are standing there chatting amongst themselves and who don't really care if they have customers or not. Don't ask them about the food, their opinions, or anything else because they will only begrudgingly respond. Once you order, you can find somewhere to sit. Seating is extremely limited, and you're more likely to share a space with others than to have your own space. While we were sitting waiting for our food, which by the way is not brought to the table your number is called and you have to return back to the counter to pick it up yourself, they do have an entire wall filled with tchotchkes and food items. Number called and we picked up our food and we needed to ask for napkins and cutlery, because none of that was provided. The food pretty much was bland to mediocre, and the dishes that we ordered that should've been hot, were barely room temperature. The eggs in the dishes we ordered were premade and cold. Poor form, poor food, poor quality. Just not good whatsoever. The wontons were very rubbery and we were not able to eat them. They were that bad. Suffice to say, when in Amsterdam avoid this place at all costs.

There were quite a few Asian ones popped up, so we decided to try our luck with some Korean food. Since it was such an nice evening, we decided to stroll along a canal to work up more appetite. Originally we wanted to go to a different restaurant, but when we got there it was full, and the server told us it'll be an hour wait. We couldn't wait that long, so we looked for an alternative. We found Khan, and we weren't disappointed. Very fortunately we found only table open. Service was prompt, pleasant, and courteous. It wasn't overly friendly, perhaps reflective of cultural background. Food was very good--of course we were very hungry by the time we got there. Number of banchan (side dishes) offered was minimal compared to what I'm used to in the States. My only complaint was the overpriced foods! It's probably because we are in Amsterdam, but it might be because there's not much compensation and Korean cuisine is a novelty around here. You will enjoy food here. Highly recommended.

Food: We ordered the following: 1) Kimchi Tofu - delicious and very big portion. It contained 8 pieces of tofu and plenty of kimchi and pork 2) Korean Fried Chicken - 8 pieces - it was good and not too greasy 3) Kimchi Jigae - nice, spicy and authentic 4) Kalbi Tang - Was ok, but didn't have the big bones of kalbi Drinks: We ordered one Korean corn tea (bodeecha) and a glass of soju. Ambiance: The evening we went it was very loud and "lively". Caveat: We went for dinner on a Friday night where it seemed that it was full of large tables of work people - and when I say work people I mean older Korean men - which means LOTS of soju drinking and very LOUD conversations. It was so loud that I couldn't even speak or hear my husband who was sitting in front of me. We literally had to shout to each other. So you can imagine what the restaurant was like where everyone was shouting. I'm not sure if this place is like this every night or even at lunch. But regardless, you never really go to a Korean restaurant for the "ambiance", you go for the food. And as long as the food was good I'll put up with the noise. Price: 72.00€ for two people Service: Very good and friendly. There were two guys and a packed restaurant and we never had to wait for anything. Would I go back? Absolutely. There's so much more on the menu that I'm dying to try.

It was said to have the best sushi in Utrecht, so we had to check it out. Like many, it's a large restaurant. In the middle of the restaurant, the seating is a little uncomfortable, but at the sides of the restaurant and on the top floor, it's provides a little more shelter, which I like for a cozy night out. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the deluxe menu (incl. sashimi and other specials for just 5 euro p.p. more) and ordered away with the tablet. Food came up very quick which was nice. Also drinks, extra wasabi and even the bill could be requested by tablet, which was very comfortable. No longer do you have to try and get noticed in a busy sushi joint, but you can just tab the tablet and return your attention to your company, which I very much prefer! The sushi was relatively good, but I am afraid I might be eating too much sushi and have problems differentiating the various flavors! To start with the bad: the handrolls were certain mediocre. You could taste it was refrigerated, and, while that didn't really impact the nigiri, but it did impact the temaki, unfortunately. The handrolls were flavorless and bland. And that's too bad, because I love handrolls! A tip for the establishment: make them as fresh as you can! The maguro and sake nigriri sushi were fairly good in comparison, and I also really liked their roll with ebi and wakame. Good combination! Overall, the sushi was very nice, but we both didn't have favorites that we wanted to order again and again. Still, we really liked it, so we'd probably return!
