I went with 2 guys from Korea. They said that no one there was Korean. The brazier was electric with a waxy paper at the bottom to make clean up easier so you don't get that charcoal burn to the meat. They said that made it taste different. The food was fine and we ate several varied dishes, both marinated and not. The space was a little cramped, and there was a soapy bucket for sponges in an open closet behind me, but hey, I guess they are cleaning. So I was surprised to see a Miss Korea BBQ in Amsterdam. I'm not sure if this is the same owner as the one in New York City, but the restaurant name outside sure had the same font and everything. My sister and I decided to try this place and was excited for an all you can eat BBQ. We walked in without reservation and the hostess told us wait was 2 hours even though the restaurant wasn't even packed so we literally said whatever and put our name down. Went back to our apartment for two hours. Anyway, this is probably the worst Korean BBQ I ever had. To the locals, please don't think this is what Korean BBQ should be like. The meat (galbi) was overly marinated, like soaked in marination, and the other meat we ordered were extremely dry. And, the grill! I don't know any BBQ place that puts parchment paper with oil to cook the meat. Even BBQ places in Korea don't do this! The ventilation is also horrible. You'll reek like the grill. Let me also mention how the order is supposed to be done. So, there are 5 rounds and every round each person gets a max of 3 orders (between me and my sister, we ordered six dishes per round). We're supposed to mark down what we want on this piece of paper they give us. If we don't finish something on a plate, they charge us for not finishing. This place is 28 or 30 Euro for all you can eat. They charge 3 Euro extra (total) to your bill if you don't finish your food. It was about 32 Euro per person with a bottle of soju. Sashimi is extra. Each person can have 3 things in 5 rounds. Basically 15 dishes per person and only 3 dishes per person in one round. They have the dim sum ordering system on a piece of paper. They have all types of meat in smaller portions with the soybean paste and lettuce and some bland side dishes (kim chi, radish, cucumber, etc.). The neng myun (cold noodles), skewers, dohl soht bi bim bap, potstickers, lumpia, korean bbq, sushi, sushi rolls, etc. were all pretty good. Nothing that memorable but it's well worth the money considering the price of food in Amsterdam. They also have ice cream at the end so save some room for that. Before our last round, the waiter asked us to hurry up and not order too much (there were two Americans in the group including myself and we can eat a LOT - we surprised our Dutch friends). After passing by this restaurant for quite some time and wanting to know how the food would taste like I decided to make a reservation (for the same evening) to put my curiosity to rest... The service was very spontaneous and good at the same time and very punctual. The drinks and food were delivered to the table fast and the food was a choice between ready-to-be-eaten food and food that needed some grilling. The food tasted better than expected as I initially thought that it would be just mostly grilled and though meat. There was a choice for different kind of fish, meat, vegetables, sushi, rice, noodles, and soup. And everything tasted very good. The only 2 things that needed improvement would be the chicken skewers. We had to sent these back twice as they were still raw in the middle. After the second time we decided to replace them with something else. And the second other thing: the heavy smell of food that will stick into your clothes. Beware of that as others will smell you coming after you have visited Miss Korea... She'll stalk you until you take a shower :) But I would surely visit her again! read more

Eating at Miss Korea means having fun while eating, especially when you're with a large group of people! You sit together at a table with a hot metal plate in the middle where you can put al kind of food. The place looks nice and is quite occupied with lot's of customers, but you can still have a decent conversation when you're among friends but if you're alone with your loved one or with a friend it can be a bit to noisy. The way of ordering food need some explanation. For €26,50 from thursday to sunday and for €24,50 for monday to wednesday you can eat "all you can eat" which is also the slogan of this restaurent. The way it works is as follows, you have five rounds in which you can order three dishes a person for each round. After you're done with round one you can repeat the sequence just described once again until you're done with round five. The only thing you need to know, if you don't finish one meal you need to pay €1,- per sushi or skewer and €3,- per hot or cold dish. You can trust me on this, five times three menu's is more then plenty. Especially when you're among friends where you can share the food all together. I ate with my girlfriend alone this time and we didn't reached round five. We ended up in round four with just one ice scream we both shared. Quality of the food. This is not brilliant but it is decent. The various dishes containing meat are well prepared with spices but the vegetables could be served a bit less simplistic for my taste. The real enjoyment of Miss Korea is not the food itself but the fact you can share the food in a fun way when putting meat on the large grill in the middle of the table, and this is quite fun to do. Rounding up Plusses + quick services between the meals, you don't need to wait between each round + the staff is very friendly + the food is not brilliant but better then average + you get more (!) then enough food for the prize you need to pay for it Minus - vegetables could be served better - it's not to noisy but when filled with people it can be a bit hectic - the place is less suitable for having a romantic dinner with your loved one but pretty nice when you're with a larger group of friends So if you're with your boy- or girlfriend and you're looking for a romantic evening out I would recommend some other place, but when you're among friends then eating at Miss Korea is a happening one should have experienced at least once in your lifetime. read more

I was a regular at this restaurant since it's the only AYCE Korean restaurant in Amsterdam that I know of. Some of the times I went the food was alright and sometimes it was not that good at all .I wasn't happy that they added sausages to the tteokbeokki (spicy rice cakes) without even mentioning it. I love the marinated squid. That's the only thing I love putting on the grill. The sushi tasted terrible honestly, it also crumbled everytime you pick it up. The good thing about this place is the grill, you get raw stuff and you can grill it yourself (it does leave you with a bbq smell when you leave). Most of the workers are kind of friendly. Last time I was terribly disappointed. I took my younger brother with me who was 11 (whom I took more than 3 times with me this year to the same restaurant) and he paid the childeren's price. This time they actually made me pay the full price even though I said last time I came there and had to pay the kids price. It was my first time yesterday at this restaurant. The only times I had Korean BBQ were back in New Jersey and New York around 5 years ago. It is definitely different to what I had before; however it is still good food. It would have been nice though if the waitress would have told us that sidedishes do not count as one item - we basically wasted two items in the first 2 rounds. Also, I'd wish for more kimchi (if you're there with more people and just get like two pieces it's gone in a second). Meat that you get is a good amount and filling. All I can say is... This place is called Ms. Korea and not Mrs. Korea because after having food like this, Mr. Korea for sure got a divorce and found a new wife that was capable of making real Korean food!! Yes I know I know... this is one of the "all you can binge eat" within six rounds kind of places so you can't expect much, but kom op!! When I walk into a Korean place, there are some foods that I MUST have and is the actual reason for my coming in the first place: 1. Kalbi - I'm drooling just typing about these slabs of meat and bone drowned in and saturated with plum sauce 2. Bulgogi - More meat! 3. Kimchi - you can never get enough rotting cabbage! 4. Chapche - Screw pizza when you can have a nice chapche 5. Bibimbab - The ultimate version of "fried rice" severed in a sizzling stone bowl!!! MMMMMMM!! So I'm sitting at MK with some friends drinking some k-beer eagerly anticipating the start of our meal with kimchi and the other small k-plates (banchan). I carefully split my wooden chopsticks, clapped my hands together and it's now EET SMAKELIJK time! ........................................ ..............eh? There's something not right about this kimchi... hmmmmm... I suppose since it is rotting and all that good stuff, if you don't have a good feeling about it, you should put it the F back down and not touch it. The other sides........ meh....... I almost forgot they were there. We ordered a lot of other non-korean things since this is an all you can binge place, but I was sooooo bored which triggered my hunger for the five Korean items I mentioned above. Once the plate of Kalbi came, my eyes became large and sparkly like an anime character injected with hello kitty cuteness. I've been to several grill-it-yourself Korean BBQ places, so with a confident stride of the tongs, I grabbed that kalbi and slammed it onto the grill with a carnivorous determined force. Now caught in a Korean meat trance and unable to converse with my friends, I watched the meat quickly sizzle and cook just barely enough for normal consumption. The chopsticks on stand-by in my hand greedily reached for the first piece of kalbi and I wrapped that mofo into my miso paste laced lettuce and immediately shoved it in my mouth... I chewed.... And chewed.......................... and................ chewed.................. ................. ????? There's no flavor! One of the most flavorful Korean dishes I've ever eaten lacks flavor?! Something is not right. Unfortunately, the other dishes slapped my mouth and hopes with utter disappointment. If you want to eat a lot of meat and other Japanese/Chinese food items, then you'll like this place. If you want Korean BBQ, you best save up some money and go to Yokiyo. Let's start with the following facts: 1. This is an all you can eat buffet for about 27 euros/person 2. The Korean food scene in Amsterdam isn't amazing Given those facts, Miss Korea isn't bad and if you're craving korean food or dining with meat lovers who have black holes for stomachs this is a great place to go to! They have a strange setup for ordering dishes, there are 5 rounds of ordering and each person can choose 3 dishes per round, i.e. you are a party of 5, so you can order 15 dishes per round with a total of 75 dishes!!! Though tbh, they're not really counting... probably because it is a lot of food and most people don't make it to round 5... but WE DID!!! Food: 3/5 Since this is all you can eat, by all means order everything! I recommend that you stick to the meat as the kimbap wasn't that good... It isn't the most amazing k-bbq but it gives you a good idea of what it is like and a great place to introduce friends to it. One thing that really irked me was that they had this wax paper over the grill so we had to grill on top of this paper... which I think detracts a bit from the flavor. Service: 3/5 We had some mixed service during our dinner. Most of them weren't very nice or helpful. When we asked them about one of the dishes on the menu, the waiter had no idea what we were talking about until we pointed at the picture. Thankfully, there was one waitress who was super on top of her game. She heard us talking about kimchi and brought more!!! Ah yes, she was our kimchi dealer and steadily provided us with more through the night. It was my first experience eating at Miss Korea and I am confident to say that it will be my last. I want to preface by saying that I am a huge Korean food fanatic so I've had my fair share of good Korean food, including authentic Korea food in Seoul. When I walked into the restaurant I immediately felt the unfriendliness from the head waiter. I asked for water but water was not served here apparently so I was forced to order a soft drink. The waiter even rolled his eyes when he answered that water is not served here. I felt like I was treated unfairly as I was seated alone in the corner of the restaurant instead of the main seating location where everyone else was seated. This is unfair because I did not get the equal fair of service since all the servers were located in the center of the dining location while I was alone on the side of the restaurant grilling thin slices of Kalbi by myself. I also felt cheated. I've been to many all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurants. Some pose a time limit...but not they don't limit the amount of food you can order. How can you advertise all you can eat when you are limited to what you can order? I guess technically it's correct because you are free to eat all the food that you CAN order. Basically there's this giant list on the menu, but you can only order 5 rounds of food, 3 plates each. Now about the food. You do not get a large array of side dishes. You get 2. Bean sprouts and radishes. Are you kidding me? I don't even get kimchi at a Korean restaurant!? What is this madness? You can order more side dishes but that's going to count toward you quota. I've never gotten so little side dishes at a Korean restaurant. The price: 25 euros The grill: You have to grill on top of this wax paper that's usually used for baking cookies. The meat will stick to the paper and you will have to constantly try to pry the meat off this paper. It's really annoying and I've never had to use this ever in my life. LA Kalbi: Okay. So I've had LA Kalbi in LA. You know, the thick succulent pieces of beef short ribs with savory marinade? Well yeah, it's not like that here. You get this thin piece of short rib (if you can even classify it as that) soaked in this sweet sauce. I'd imagine it be super flavorful because it's drenched in this sauce, but to my surprise I've tasted plain rice that's had more flavor than this. Shrimp: On to the next one. Pork belly: Iv'e had bacon from McDonald's that was better than this. In Korean pork belly is which means 3 layer meat. The only thing that comes in 3 is the 3 dish limit that they impose before you even get to sit down. Gross. Chicken wings: They didn't allow the syrup to dry before serving the chicken wings. So eating this was similar to eating a laffy taffy. It kept sticking to my teeth. Also the chicken wings were super tiny. Free ice cream after dinner: This is where my review of the free ice cream would be if I got one. Nope. I was not offered the free ice cream. Korea's drinking culture is much like here in the Netherlands where alcohol is the main event and the food is a side attraction. This place manages to mix the two elements quite well. Serving a wide variety of Korean favorites with the kind of customer service thats standard in Korean establishments but amiss here. If you're just visiting, I wouldn't expect you to have the same experience as your expectation will paramount the limitations of a newly opened restaurant trying to introduce Korean cuisine to the Netherlands and having to take a couple of creative routes to do so. Mainly, holding back on the garlic (but something you can easily remedy by asking for more, throwing them on the grill, and adding it to every possible bite you have that night.) But if you're new to Korean food, or an expat and have been missing some sliver of home, or even just been traveling for what it feels like months and just want something remotely close to your typical dining regiment and are sick of having sandwiches for dinner, treat yourself to Miss Korea. read more

I visited my friend in Amsterdam. We went for a run outside in 5C weather, decided to "push" ourselves, got lost and ended up being outside for 3 hours in T shirt and shorts. The first of many poor decisions that night. Naturally, being American, we felt like AYCE Korean BBQ would be a good option for dinner. We arrived at Miss Korea with roughly 45 minutes to closing, so our hostess promised us an "expedited" experience. Normally, you'd order meat, veggie, appetizer, sushi dishes dim-sum style in five "rounds". Each person gets 3 orders per round. This costs about 27€. However, since the kitchen would close soon, we were offered 3 rounds of 5 orders each. If you don't finish any dish, you pay 3€ per. The food was generally tasty. We soon realized that there are standout exceptional picks: bulgogi, pancakes, kimchi, salmon sushi, to name a few. Being two quiet introverted manly men, we didn't bother speaking much to each other that night, amidst a crowd of happy, smiling, socialable, sensible eaters. Our introversion was matched only by our desire for greatness - we were here to get our money's worth. After our first round with a smattering of appetizers, meats, and pancakes, we decided to go for an all meat second round. A great decision, though I recommend against the sirloin and pork belly and opting for duck and bulgogi. We had annihilated a total of 20 dishes thus far and it came time to decide on our final round. Being the sensible one at the table (I have a degree from MIT), I decided to stick with sushi and a cold noodle dish. James (with only a degree from Florida) thought it'd be wise to get more meat and kimchi. The last thirty minutes were a bloodbath. The meat was a bad decision. The noodles were a horrible decision (it was actually quite tasty, but the volume was ridiculous with a ginormous amount of soup). After spending the last thirty minutes mocking those around us who valued the company of their friends over gluttony, we sat in silence, slowing chopsticking pieces of meat in a desperate attempt to finish. I wanted to call it quits and pay the fee. James reminded me that I declined tap water because I didn't want to pay the fee. It would be unsensible of me to pay the loser's fee therefore. Fine. The last bit was just a haze to me. Did we feel horrible? Yes. Was the food delicious? Yes. #YOLO? Without a doubt. Results 28/30 dishes over 3 rounds in under an hour. I am giving it an extra star for the pure novelty of all you can eat korean BBQ off the tourist drag of Amsterdam. Essentially, you get to select a series of dishes each "round" of ordering. Spicy pork, unmarinated pork belly and the short ribs were all very tasty and ordered twice. The noodle dishes are plentiful and pretty good. Did not try the sushi. If you have the time and you have the stomach you can put away some decent quality food. The help is very "European" and you cook the BBQ yourself. Went here with some friends the other night, not 100% certain if I will go back. Some items on the menu were good, others were okay. Since it is all-you-can-eat portions are small. The deal is each person can order 3 things at a time, as many times in 2.5 hours. Not sure what the first reviewer of this restaurant means by bait and switch. There are two things on the menu that are extra and not covered by the all-you-can-eat, that is lam chops and scallops. You get a big scoop of ice cream at the end, if you want an extra ball of it, it's 1 euro more... so I guess 3 things on the menu are extra. We got reservations for 4 at 7 on a Saturday night, but the place is pretty large, so we could have easily walked in at any time. read more

Even with tempered expectations, this place fell far below it. The reasons you go to korean bbq (all you can eat, or not), is for 1) the meats, 2) the banchan sides, and 3) the flavors. This place fell flat on all three counts, seriously. The all you can eat aspect intrigued me, as the dinner previously was vegetarian, so I was looking for a re-tox. There's a format to their AYCE process: you get five round to choose whatever you want, with three items per round. So maximally, you can get 15 plates of things - this pretty much means it's *NOT* all you can eat. They should rename the place to "Some you can eat". 1. The meats were pretty low grade. The marinaded pork pieces were about 50% fat. Granted, it IS pork, but unless you're getting pork belly, there shouldn't be that much fat. The beef ribs were almost inedible. Not only did they lack flavor, the meat seemed to taste off as well. In fact, I tried about six types of meat, and all but the lamb skewers should probably be avoided. Moreover, the meats I did get weren't thoroughly marinated enough, or their marinades were just that watered down to begin with. 2. I've never been to a Korean places that was so stingy with their banchan sides. They start you off with four different banchans, but the contents were sparse at best. For example, the cabbage kimchi they provided equaled about 1/4 of a single leaf of cabbage. I know there was a cabbage shortage in korea, but that was 10 years ago, and I'm sure this kimchi didn't come from Korea. You can get more banchans, but they'll count against the 15 items you can receive. 3. The flavors. I know this is the Netherlands, and maybe the palates aren't used to full ethnic flavors. It's possible that 0% of them have ever visited FLAVORTOWN. That digression aside, most of the meats I ordered didn't resemble the flavors that make KBBQ such a draw for people. The meats that were supposed to be marinated didn't taste like it at all. Reading some other reviews on this place, others reported meats being too marinated. Evidently, their quality control is off in this aspect. In parting, if you like quality meats, and flavor, and perhaps flavorful meats, go elsewhere; you'll get none of that. What I experienced is unrecognizable from the delicious KBBQ I've had elsewhere (SF Bay Area, New York Korea town, Chicago Korea town, Los Angeles Korea town). They charge 26 euros for all you can eat. I don't think I'd go back at 10 euros, nor should you. Update: The morning after, my body is definitely not feeling normal. ugh. read more

Had a lovely dinner here with my co-workers. It's true that there is not a large selection of vegetarian food which might be something they can attempt to improve on if this is important to them. However in the end it's main focus is of course the BBQ so that's mainly meat so this is to be expected! The food I had was very nice, it all arrived fairly quickly since you cook most of it by yourself but the already cooked dishes arrived quickly as well even though the restaurant was very full! According to my co-workers the meat itself was very nice and they all left very full. Staff is very nice as well, explain how the ordering cards works since there are multiple courses. Went to Amsterdam to visit my daughter. It had been several months since she had had Korean food so I checked the reviews and found Miss Korea. It's large place which covers several store fronts. We had a great primary server, a young Filipino lad, who did a fantastic job. His two co-workers weren't as warm unfortunately. The menu has a great selection of items to pick from. My daughter really enjoyed the soft tofu soup. The meat selection was good. The deep fried chicken was good. The wonton/gyoza/mondu were good. Nothing blew me away and you don't get a lot of items per order but you do get 5 rounds to eat till you're content and don't forget, you're at an AYCE. But again, the foot items and selection were very good. The only things that are extra charge are lamb and scallops. The banchon was good and you can get multiple orders of this, which doesn't count as the 3 items you can select per round. The weird thing is they use a special type of paper on half the metal grill grate, which keeps items that are saucy from dripping into the grill. It was a little odd as it also slowed the cooking of items placed on it. They also don't ever replace the grill grate, which is something that is done here in the United States so that you're not burning what has already burned onto the metal grate and you don't get burnt remnants of previous cooked food onto the current food that you're grilling. The way you order is each member of your party gets to order 3 items off the menu per round. The order form has 5 rounds, which may not seem like much but believe me, you'll get full way before you reach that 5th round. A couple of tips. Don't order tea as it's 3.50 euro per cup, although they will refill the cup for you. They won't serve tap water so you'll have to pay for bottled water, which always bothers me as someone who drinks a lot of water with dinner. There aren't many choices for Korean food in the Netherlands and as much as I hate to have to cook it at restaurants (Isn't the whole purpose of going out to eat is to avoid cooking?), this was a good choice. I might return but then I'm from California so I have plenty of choices to get my fill of Korean food without paying an arm and a leg or have to cook for myself at a restaurant. read more

As a Korean traveling to Amsterdam and seeing the sign for "Miss Korea" restaurant, it made me very happy and curious at the same time. I wondered how Korean food tasted in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, my curiosity only brought disappointment and made my wallet much lighter at the end This place should be called "Miss China"--not "Miss Korea." The food that I ate at this restaurant can not be called Korean food. It tasted like Chinese food. I should have known something was wrong when none of the people working at the restaurant spoke Korean. First, no Korean BBQ restaurants use parchment paper on the grill to cook the meat. Second, instead of cooking the meat in high heat, the electric pan used to cook the meat, at its highest setting, boiled the meat instead of grilling the meat. Finally, the seasoning used in the Korean BBQ tasted very Chinese with strange fragrances, which are not founded in Korean BBQ. Unfortunately, I have experienced restaurants like this before in Taiwan that use the word "Korea" to attract customers, but in reality, the owner and the cook were Taiwanese with very little knowledge of Korean food. If you are traveling to Amsterdam and want to experience Korean food, please do not go to this restaurant. When I think of Korean food I think of lots of interesting flavors and super tender meat, but Miss Korea did not deliver on either of those points. I love Korean food, so when we saw there was a Korean restaurant nearby, I was excited and probably got my hopes up too high. If you go here, definitely do not order anything that you have to cook at your table because it's just meat with not much sauce. Stick with the sushi options and some of the other items you may not already know and love. The seaweed salad here was excellent and the bibim bab was a surprise hit. Miss Korea is also in the "all you can eat" style, so make sure you watch what you're ordering and maximize your rounds because you only get so many and note that you have to order a drink. read more

Was wary visiting after reading some of the reviews, but decided to give it a try since I was really craving some Korean BBQ. Walked in without a reservation, and was seated pretty much right away. Staff was super friendly and helpful in explaining the process to us since it can be a little bit confusing. It's an "all you can eat" concept, but you order in increments with a max of 6 rounds, so I get the gripe that it's really not "all you can eat." I did notice that the portions were quite small, which initially raised eyebrows on the first round, however I find this perfect for me since I like to eat a variety of things. My husband is a pretty big guy, and between the two of us we only got through about three rounds. Meats could use more flavor for sure, but we're still good, our favorite was the spicy chicken. The parchment paper on the grill was a bit odd, but didn't really bother me. Ice cream is included, the green tea ice cream was good and a nice little ending to the experience. A bit pricey, I think for two all you can eat's and two beers the bill came to about 90 euros. BUT I definitely left full and happy, if you're desperate for Korean BBQ in Amsterdam, this is your best bet! read more

I thought the food was alright and some of the dishes were flavorful, others lacked flavor. It definitely didn't blow my mind, but it was reasonably priced and good enough for a casual dinner out. I do enjoy the DIY approach though! read more

We loved it here. The all you can eat price is relatively high, but it is totally worth the price. The location is good and the service was very friendly. It was good Korean food, some things weren't quite as authentic as at a real Korean restaurant. However the complete experience was very pleasant. We will come back anytime. read more

Almost perfect korean bbq buffet! Very good deal to have such a good quality meat with only €27! You will be given 5 sessions to order (3 dishes/person) so imagine having 3 dishes each sessions! The taste quite authentic, very friendly service, cant complain anything! read more

I like it here!! Heard different stories about this place and also read the reviews here. But it is nice. Not great Korean food, but nice and close to. For when you can't be arsed to go to Amstelveen. The staff is definitely not Korean. They serve nice big glasses of makgeolli for EUR2.50 which is quite reasonable. They have dishes like japchae and the stews as well. Since I am vegetarian i can not judge any of the meat or fish. But I've tried most of the vegetarian food; the kimchi is lovely, the kimchi pancakes too, japchae was good (though a bit too overcooked for my likes). The kimchi stew was nice (tofu was not so good & fresh though). the ddeokbokki said "rice cakes with seafood" and was served with sausage. the waiter tried to convince us that's how it's eaten in Korea (and it's not!). But all in all it was nice and I can imagine it makes a great night out with a big group of friends as well, with the big BBQ tables. We managed to eat 2 rounds and we were stuffed! read more
