A-Fusion is A+++ I had dinner with a colleague at A-Fusion. We decided to play a bit of roulette for dinner and asked the staff to help make selections for us based on what they felt was a "must-have." Needless to say - she knew her stuff. The food was blend of creative beauty and amazing taste sized for folks to try a few different things. I don't remember that menu names for everything, but I do know that I'd have no shame on my next visit by pulling up this review to show my pics and ask for the same stuff again. We literally enjoyed every single thing we had. The place is impressive. As you walk up, you'll stumble upon their repetitive Michelin cards displayed at the front window. Based on the taste and experience, they were well earned. Surprisingly, the tab at the end of the meal was not expensive -- I thought the value was worth it. The place has a trendy feel to it. If you decide to check it out, your best bet is to make a reservation. It seemed to fill up with people before we finished. Overall: 3 stars Michelin guide Asian restaurant in the Asian district of Amsterdam. I do find it exciting that they are trying innovative flavors, but I also think its important to not overshadow some of the foundations in the process. (Tuna Nigiri: C) - Smells extremely delightful, but unfortunately dullfully lacking saline that could only be partially resolved by soy sauce. (Salmon Nigiri: C) - Fascinating concept with a South Asian influenced flavor profile that seemingly works. I'm not sure what the foam is supposed to be for since its completely disjoint from the salmon, but this dish wouldve worked if it was balanced with saline. (XO Siu Mai: B) - Surprisingly well flavored with a tender meat mixture, topped with some subtle xo to enhance with a noticeable but not overpowering spiciness. (Steamed Scallop: A) - This is the least fusion dish but also unironically the best from what I've sampled. Made a reservation a few days in advance after finding this on the Michelin website. My goodness, this meal was to die for. The ribeye, foie gras sushi - wow!!! Dumplings were also so good. And the 5 piece of special rolls. So glad we found this. Super fast service for Europe too! read more

Im going to start by saying, this is NOT a Michelin star restaurant as I have read in previous reviews, it is Michelin Guide recommended which is way different! Meaning a Michelin inspector's favorite for good value. The service and quality of the food cannot be compared to a restaurant with stars. With that said, we really enjoyed the whole experience. We didn't had a reservation but the host was so helpful that she accommodate us at the bar seats. It was our first time at the restaurant so the server guided us through the menu and also gave us pretty good suggestions. We are huge fans of nigiris so I think we ordered practically all of them in the menu. My favorites were Salmon Gin and Canned Tuna, both creative and beautifully presented. We also had the Tom Yum Chicken Sticks a cool twist for the Tom Yum soup, the spring rolls, the prawn dumplings and the Korean BBQ beef, which was a little hard for my taste. Michelin star What an amazing meal. Was able to walk right in as a solo and sit at the bar but if you're a couple or more for sure get a reservation because the space is quite small. Incredible service. They made sure I was taken care of from start to finish and the food was fantastic. I'd skip the crab salad if I were to do it again but only because I'd get two portions of the beef tenderloin. Some of the best bites of beef I've had in a long time. Stumbled upon this Asian Fusion restaurant while exploring Amsterdam. Lucky to be squeezed in without a reservation for four on a Friday night with the stipulation that we just had one hour. Grabbed a menu and a paper slip to order. So thankful that our waiter was either able to modify our orders or suggest other options for a shellfish and pork free dining experience. Presentations were so creative. The vegetarian udon noodles served flowing from a noodle box dish were so flavorful. The steamed sea bass served in a seashell propped up in a sea of salt was fantastic. The ginger and soy sauce complimented the fish without overpowering it. Love, love, love the Tom Yum Chicken Sticks. The crispy fried rolls were filled with the most delicious Thai red curry chicken and served with a bottle of Tom Yum dressing. They need to bottle and sell the sauce. So good! Nice how they accommodated our dietary restrictions for the flaming sake roll. The flambéed salmon with avocado and cucumber was incredible. Our friends also got the lamb chops with were torched to perfection table-side. Fun to also watch the chef torch other specialties and fusion rolls. I had no idea this place had a Michelin Star until I read some of the reviews... well, that is not what I expected from a michelin star. They have beautiful presentations when it comes to their food, but they need to focus on the food itself. The only thing on the menu that I was pleased with was the sticky korean chicken! That was DELICIOUS, but everything else lacked flavor especially the salad. I'd give it a try at another location, but I was very disappointed with my visit. read more

I was so excited to see a Michelin Star restaurant in Amsterdam. The window is impressive Michelin Stars awarded in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 22 and a view of Sushi chefs hard at work. IMO...that's where it ends. I was able to get a table on Sunday night at 8:45. Upon arriving, we were told we could only have the table for an hour. Ok, they close at 10, I get it, but Michelin Stars are about excellent service and high quality food and in a country where I just learned that if you don't ask for the check they'll let you sit forever, so it seemed like an odd request, especially after I heard people complaining it was taking forever for their food. Ok... let's start with service. You get a menu, a piece of paper and a pencil. Check off the boxes next to the dishes and sushi you want, and someone will come by and pick up the paper. Tables are so close together that every time a server bought a dish to the table behind me or next to me, not only did they bump into my chair, one time they actually reached in front of me to pick up the order from the table next to me! No excuse me, no I'm sorry. This happened 4 different times. Now the food... honestly, absolutely nothing special. We are spoiled with really good and creative sushi in the states. The rolls we ordered were fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Dumplings were bland and a bit overcooked. Singapore Prawns were beautifully presented and I was hoping this would be the dish that wowed me, but it wasn't. I was expecting a pop of curry or even a chili garlic but neither was in the dish... just shrimp covered in some type of sauce. We were visiting from out of Country, So Cal, USA. The food was amazingly good: Rock N Roll, chicken sate, egg fried rice, and Mama's dumplings. My bf and I wanted to check this resto out while we were strolling along Chinatown. We just had lunch so we thought we could have a light snack. As we entered, we noticed the great vibes. We were greeted almost immediately by the wait staff and offered snacks and drinks. We ordered a couple of dishes and I can say that it didn't disappoint... it's full of flavor, the presentation was great. The ambiance of the place is great and the wait staff are really nice. I just thought it's a little pricey for a snack... the Vietnamese spring roll is about € 12 bucks which translates to € 4 bucks a piece and they're very small (about 2 bites). We also ordered TomYum chicken sticks € 12 bucks for 4 pcs. As I mentioned, it's pretty good. I've never had fried Vietnamese spring rolls. Bottom line... we enjoyed our stay, our food and would definitely recommend this place. read more

Hello WaWa and team, been some time but miss the sushi here! I have been coming here for years and have never been let down. Every time is great food and fresh sushi! Great spot for team lunches and better for after closing the month dinners. I remember the first time I was walking through Amsterdam Chinatown and saw a sushi restaurant cutting up some fresh salmon which was just delivered. I told myself I will have to try their sushi and came back that evening. I usually start with a plate of sushi and order some sparkling sake "Hana Awaka" great stuff! I have sampled numerous items on the menu over the years and notably are the following: vegetable fried rice, oysters, shrimp tempura, sirloin sushi and amazingly the lychee boba! To finish the dinner try a shot of Kwei Fe lychee liquor with a fresh lychee in the shot glass...proper and strong. Dank u wel for the years of great meals. Can't wait to come back again! read more

The pepper chicken, pineapple fried rice, and two hand rolls were ordered. The pineapple fried rice was not fried, it was mixed. They use frozen mixed vegetables for the rice (ours were still frozen, and our server saw me spit them out). The chicken is simply battered/fried, lacked flavor, and was not pepper chicken. Rarely do I ever say "wow" when I eat food. But this place. WOWWWWWW. Speechless. One of the best meals I've ever had period. We had a party of 8 at 5:30 and it got super busy by the time we finished so it's a pretty popular spot and for obvious reasons!!! There was not a single dish that wasn't gone within the minute of the waiter putting it on our table. SO DELICIOUS. Some of the stand outs were the yuzu oysters. OMG flavor heaven. The foie gras sushi!??!? Wow. The KBBQ beef chunks literally melted in our mouths. The torched lamb chops with truffle oil sauce was some of the best lamb I've ever had. Their sushi rolls and just sushi in general. INSANEEEE. The sea bass. INCREDIBLE. If you're thinking about ordering it, get it. It's worth it. It's too bad most reviews here are about the bubble tea. Seriously? A famous Dutch food critic gave it 9 out of 10 points and not without reason, because the food here is Amazing. It's what you could call fine chinese cuisine. The menu mostly consists of smaller dishes, but they also have some normal bigger things on the menu. We absolutely love the dim sum, the oysters in black bean sauce, the monkfish with it's delicious sauce. Service is incredibly friendly and it's one of the few places on the Zeedijk you can visit with a kid (baby, toddler) without any problems because it's pretty spacious inside. I was really craving a bubble tea while in Amsterdam and read that this place had it. Unfortunately, their "bubble tea", as described by another Yelp reviewer, has no tea and the tapioca is way over-cooked, making them huge and mushy. So, don't get the bubble tea! However, my fiancé ordered some duck "buns" - kind of a sandwich on soft bread (resembled a more "delicate" pita bread, if you will), and those were amazing. I highly recommend the duck buns. read more
