Guys! I travel extensively Globally & by far the food here is exceptional. I was here on business, in Den Haag but came to Amsterdam for a few gifts for family & last I was here was with a friend. So, I didn't have a reservation, and the girl inquired if I could be squeezed in & Viola! The Dim Sum here is outstanding, and I got a steamed shrimp roll, & a shrimp on green bell pepper that was also good. I'm diabetic, so I can't too many carbs, but their food didn't spike my sugar. The Ambiance & atmosphere is great too, it sits in the water near the science museum. Ohhh, u don't drink alcohol try one of their Mocktails/ Spritz. I got the Ginger , Pineapple & it was very good. What else would you get a taste for other than dim sum food in Amsterdam? We did and found a pretty good dim sum restaurant. They are located in a great area and location - just outside the central train station on the water. The food is fantastic and their menu is very extensive. We ordered several dim sum selections - made with pork and shrimp, they all were delicious. We also had an order of gyoza! The service was great. They utilized an online menu, robot delivery (no worries, the staff put the orders on your table). This all enables ordering as you go - you don't have to do it all at once! read more

We had better Chinese food here across the globe in Amsterdam than in many places at home and we live near Chinatown in SF and Oakland where some of the best Chinese food can be found (outside of you know...China). Seeing a place like this would normally give you pretty substandard food and banking on the Chinese aesthetics but not here. The food was way above average with terrific taste and a large variety. And the aesthetics were very pleasant - especially being on the water! FOOD: So good. We ordered a BUNCH of food knowing we would take some back with us to the hotel. Now, I know I'm coming back whenever we visit Amsterdam. We had the 3 meat plate which had roast pork, cha siu pork, and roast duck. All so good. Really loved the cha siu (which is a Chinese version of BBQ pork). Usually overcooked, this wasn't. We also ordered kung pao chicken which was delicious. Usually kung pao is filled with veggies and other fillers but this was tons of great chicken! And then there was the dim sum. So good. Just yum. And good rice. SERVICE: Good and certainly better than expected. We had a nice English speaking guy helping us out and he was great. The food was served in nice sized portions and it came out relatively quickly. They serve it as it's ready and not in any particular order. Actually made it more pleasant. COST: Reasonable for what you get which is high quality food in a beautiful setting. Heard so many good things about sea palace and it didn't disappoint. Walked in to this floating restaurant and was transformed to China. Beautiful atmosphere and well maintained. They wanted to sit us downstairs but with much begging we were seated on the main floor in order to take in the wonderful views of the water as the boats went by. You order on your phone then the waitress brings your food as it is prepared. We ordered spare ribs which were meaty and flavorful. Chicken with noodles super tasty and a shrimp and pork dim som cooked to perfection. We also started with two pornstar martinis also well prepared. Wow a must stop!!! We were staying at the Doubletree Hilton and the Sea Palace is right in front of the hotel! And it's stunning and beautiful. Our tour guide said it's a replica of one in China. We went late on a Monday and the place was packed! She said it was over an hour wait, but we only waited 20 minutes for a party of 6. Cool ordering process.. you scan a QR code and order from your phone. Service was really fast! Now the food... oh my goodness SO GOOD!!! Lots of choices and everything tastes so fresh. My wife is not an Oriental food gal, but even she said the rice was the best she's had! We ordered multiple dishes as it's served family style... the big winners.... When the Asian food cravings hit... this place delivered! After weeks of traveling around Europe, I was so ready for a flavor change. My husband found this Bib Gourmand Chinese restaurant -- it's actually a floating restaurant near Amsterdam Central Station, which already makes it pretty unique! The decor was classic and ornate, full of traditional Chinese touches I honestly didn't expect in the middle of Amsterdam. We were seated right away at a lovely window table with tons of natural light and a beautiful water view -- perfect for watching boats and canal cruises drift by while we ate. We started with a couple of drinks and a pot of hot chrysanthemum tea, then ordered Mapo Tofu, Eggplant Clay Pot, and Yang Chow Fried Rice. Everything hit the spot and totally cured my Asian food cravings. I'd say the flavors are about San Francisco suburban-level good -- not quite SF Chinatown-tier, but definitely solid. A strong 4 out of 5 from me! Outside it was cold and dreary, but inside we were cozy, sipping hot tea and digging into spicy Mapo Tofu -- pure comfort. I highly encourage you make reservations as this place is big, but it gets busy. The restaurant is huge. It's on the water. Their menu is small, but I am sure everyone can find something to their liking. You do have to order on your phone via the QR code on your table. They do have free WiFi. The food is brought out to you by a waitress. They don't all come out at once. Once you are ready to pay, you have to flag down your waitress so she can bring you your check. The food is meant to be shared, but we only shared the spring rolls. We got our own dish. The spring rolls are vegetarian and bigger than I expected. They weren't as crispy as I like them though. I ordered the fried noodles with shrimp. We asked for some chili oil on the side to put in our food. It was a very good dish. It is big enough to share if you wanted to. I think we bought half of the menu because the food was so good. The drinks were tasty we were entertained by some of the service robots, taking dirty dishes to be washed. One of the most beautiful restaurants ever Floating restaurant on the canal right outside of our Doubletree hotel Amsterdam. Came here on May 26, 2024 at 250pm, as they had no reservations available 4pm-8pm. Incredible ambiance, with detailed Oriental decor throughout, including glittering gold designs on the walls. Our first time here was for dim sum in the middle of the afternoon. Ordered from a QR code on our cell phone, using restaurant wifi limited to the premises. The usual: BBQ pork buns, sticky rice, XLB, pan fried dumplings. Shrimp fresh, tasty, average portion sizes, and average prices once you consider that a 21% value added tax and tip are included in the price. Second time came for dinner at 8pm, and had the won ton soup and fried noodles with shrimp. Also ordered a Fanta orange, which has a fraction of the sugar of the American Fanta orange. Cheaper than bottled water. We ate on the second floor with splendid views of the palace across the canal. Patrons on the first floor were served by mechanical robots. Service is prompt. Plenty of servers to assist with your needs and help you with menu items. Multi- language menu is a plus for me! Also price is very reasonable compared to other Chinese restaurants in this area. Food is delicious! Plenty of dim sum selection and À la carte menu to choose from. Reservations are recommended. We went without reservations and waited only 45 min for a table but went on a Tuesday evening. We passed the time at the bar-drinks were good. I hade Jasmine hot tea. A friend of mine had a lychee martini. The hostess was efficient but extremely curt. Wow...the view is spectacular. There were families and a good mixed crowd of casual and business casual attire. Dim sum and Spring pls as an appetizer. We had 4 pork shrimp steamed dumplings-each dumpling was large and took 3 bites to finish. Lots of meat. We enjoyed the appetizers and they thankfully came out hot-yay! Mains: spicy Szechuan beef and pork belly. We were disappointed. The Szechuan dish had a thick layer of oil that was off putting to the dish. It also wasn't that spicy. The pork belly was mediocre. We recommend using the appetizer menu as a tapas main course. This restaurant is not Michelin star'd-I believe it's Michelin recommended-don't quote me on that, investigate for yourself. Clearly the food critic didn't order the Szechuan dish. read more

The resto is right outside double tree hotel. It is a floating Chinese resto and upon entering, I saw this is a Michelin star for 2024. We were seated right away and ordering was done by using the QR code on the table. Food was delivered by a robot, stopped close to the stairs and was finally taken to our table by the servers. Food was really good but pork was kinda hard. service could be better too. We were done eating but Our server never came back to check on us and he passed by our table multiple times. The restaurant is in a desirable location overlooking the waterfront. We enjoyed the soup and Shumai but did not like the chicken with noodles. There was a wait because we did not have reservations, so we sat at the bar for a drink. The service was okay but they have a strange ordering system. You sit at a table and order the food online. The location is enchanting, floating right along Amsterdam's canals. The three-story building, with every corner, beautifully reflects elements of China . The front attendant was kind enough to allow us to stay and wait for our table, even though we arrived late for our reservation. All the appetizers and main dishes were delicious. However, the timing of the food delivery could have been better. For instance, the spare ribs arrived about 10 minutes before the side dishes, like the noodles and fried rice, and the Kung Po Kai came 15 minutes after we had finished our other plates. As a result, we ended up having to take the Kung Po Kai as a takeaway. The ambiance was pleasant, though slightly loud, which is to be expected in such a large restaurant. read more

Sea Palace is right in the heart of the action in Amsterdam, on the water. The decor is very interesting, almost extravagently Chinese. It is a bustling atmosphere inside, with servers, busters and hostesses buzzing around almost at a frantic pace. It was exceptionally busy when we were there, as it happed to be smack in the middle of Amsterdam's 'once every five years' Sail event. There were 10k sailboats that came in from 20 countries, so that may have had an impact. The food was amazing, the service very good despite how busy it was. Sometimes you just wanna embrace the tourist in you and fall for the tourist traps, at least I do anyway. But how can you NOT feel just a liiiittle curious about a floating, ornate, extravagant Chinese restaurant? On a harbor/river? In my defense, it was also literally right outside the doorsteps from my hotel. The inside of the place looks just like what you'd expect it after seeing it from the outside. Lots of details, very showy, and very spacious with a gorgeous view of the city all over. As far as the food goes, they offer all the typical Cantonese classics. My wife and I showed up for dim sum and while it wasn't bad by any means, it wasn't exactly memorable either and a bit steep in terms of cost. Siu mai: Pretty good, standard siu mai. A bit on the small side, but good! Har gow: Again, pretty standard and a bit on the smaller side (maybe this is just the American in me talking), but jokes aside, still good. Beef chow fun: Good, but also different from home. Plenty of flavor and color with distinct wok hei. The noodles were thicker though, so the texture/chew wasn't exactly chewy/springy. The beef was tender and flavorful. Chicken feet: Least favorite. Small and bony, the flavor was a little different. Shrimp cheung fun: Not sure if our server or kitchen forgot our order, but we had to ask our server if it was still on the way. He mentioned it took the longest (which I wish we got a heads-up on) or if he forgot, but either way the dish showed up when my wife and I were already done with our meal. We wanted to just get up and pay at this point and the old lady who I'm assuming runs the place would not allow us to cancel/send back the dish. She literally just set the plate down and walked off. Very annoying. Overall, decent-ish/authentic-ish Cantonese food. It's not something I would go back to, but if you want to try and see for yourself, it's not exactly terrible either. The service was bad though. It took FOREVER to flag ANYONE down, especially when we just wanted to pay the bill and leave. I also overheard the table next to us saying they forgot a dish they ordered and another table where they were dropping off beverages that had already been ran. Had dinner the last night I was in Amsterdam since this was right next to my hotel (doubletree). This place I would say is a little overpriced, probably due to it catering to lots of tourists, but the food and service is excellent. What I like the most about it is it's QR code ordering system. Just scan the QR code and order each course through the web app as you like it. A robot will bring the food and drinks when ready. To start off I had a lychee mojito and xiu mai and pork soup dumplings. For mains I had the half Beijing duck and Singapore noodles. This was all entirely too much for one person but I was grateful to have some leftovers to bring back to my room. All the food ended up being great. Especially enjoyed the duck. 10/10 would order everything I ordered again. If I ever find myself in Amsterdam again I'll definitely be back. read more

I didn't realize until this visit that the Sea Palace is like an institution in Amsterdam. I looked it up prior to my visit and knew I wanted to give it a try seeing as I love this type of cuisine and I was in luck that it happened to be located next to my hotel. What more could I ask for? Most European restaurants are cramped, tiny and so hard to navigate through for us big American's, but this place is opulent and spacious, and grand. They offer you a dim sum menu and a lunch/dinner menu. you're able to order from one or both, so I did just that and ordered from both. Disclaimer: I ordered too much food. So much that the food runner laughed when she saw it was just for one person. "This can't all be for you?!" she said. Sort of in shame I replied that it was. She said, "I'll bring some boxes" and of course I needed them, but I just had to try things. Their fried rice was out of this world good. I ordered some buns because you just have to when dim sum in available and they didn't disappoint either. I did order one thing that I wasn't crazy for and I forget the (Dutch) name, but essentially it was a larger version of an American "rangoon" but it was only shrimp inside. It was just rather plain. 'Ello chaps! Sea Palace is a floating restaurant in downtown Amsterdam steps from the Central Train Station. Opened since 1984, Sea Palace boasts a robust fare of Asian cuisine. With more than 600 seats, dining spans three stories on this floating restaurant. The service was great, and employees were very accommodating to find a table on a busy night. I love how integrated technology is in this restaurant. You order everything on your phone, so you can order in phases, and the food comes in phases. That said, there can also be some limitations, especially if you have allergies. It's important to speak to one of the many roaming servers before ordering. But, if you want more food or drink, you can simply order it on the phone without having to wait for someone to pass by to do so. Since so much ordering is phone based, they do have FREE WIFI. As someone who is a picky eater, I did find there to be plenty to order off the menu. Veggie and Pork spring rolls, for example. The pricing is a bit high, likely for being in a tourist area. This was by far our most expensive meal and we did not even have that much. That said, we had an overall good experience. Simply due to pricing, I give Sea Palace 3 stars out of 5. read more

Better than the Chinese restaurants back in California! Robot service is only on the first floor. We were seated on the second floor which had great views. I sauntered over to the restaurant about 8:20 pm. It was across from my Doubletree hotel and there was a slight rain. The hostess said I could not dine as they were full for the night with reservations and the kitchen closed at 9:00pm. I asked if I could sit at the bar, seeing all the stools were empty. She said to follow her. She took me to a table for one. I thought it was very kind of her. The entire menu, drinks, everything is ordered through a WR code from your phone. I left my phone to charge in my hotel room but it was not a problem. I was brought a small iPad type device and was easily able to order. Drinks arrived straightaway. I was told to order with a time gap in between if I did not want everything to arrive at once. I ordered an appetizer. An order of four chicken .... Things.... From the dim sum menu. It took quite awhile to arrive, but I enjoyed watching the robot deliver food and seeing what others ordered. After a bit, as I still waited on my appetizer, I decided to order my main course of fried rice with beef. That gave me just enough time to enjoy my first course before my main arrived. Honestly? The appetizer would have been enough of a meal for me! The chicken things ( not buns, but sort of wrapped with a noodle?) we're bigger than I was expecting and had ever seen before. The rice had vegetables such as onion and cabbage, peas and carrots plus the beef. The beef was tender. When a piece needed to be cut to bite size, my fork easily did the trick. There is fancier food here. I am simply a plain eater. There is a children's menu also. The restaurant was completely full and thus a bit loud. It is beautifully decorated. Dining at the Sea Palace has been an annual tradition when attending the METS Trade Show every November, over the years I have been part of large groups and dined alone and have tried almost everything on the menu, it's always excellent and the service is great, this time was different due to the COVID-19 restrictions and protocols but still great food and service, I highly recommend it and I will look forward to coming back next year! read more

I found the food to be fresh and authentic. They are open from 12:00-23:00 daily and also offer take-out, delivery and catering. I ordered the Dim Sum Box which featured 2 pieces of Nagau Yuk Kuun (shrimp rolls), 2 pieces of Hau Kau (shrimp dumplings), 2 pieces of Sui Mai (shrimp and shitake dumplings), Kai Kau (chicken) end Lo Mai Chi (sweet coconut dumplings w/lotus paste. From earlier comments, I was unsure about the service but food was apparently worth it. Well, our experience was different. I'm a little old school and prefer a physical menu; none here, only electronically. On top of that you must order electronically with your phone which means no alterations from what's on the menu. (Example. We wanted the pork fried rice without the prawns, too bad, not possible) really sucks when the internet goes down which it did. The waitress didn't know how to order our food without internet. Food was average at best but the people/service was excellent once they reset the restaurant router. One of the very few, genuine place to go Yum Cha in Amsterdam. Similar to "Jumbo floating restaurant" in Hong Kong, the decor is very much Chinese inside. The staff are well-dressed like a higher-end restaurant and of course, the prices are slightly higher than a Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles or New York City. Overall, I had a positive experience here, the food was surprisingly authentic for something in Amsterdam. I would definitely come back here if I have a craving for dim sum the next time I travel to Amsterdam. read more
