Traveling in Europe in January 2026. Weather was cold, but didn't stop me from finding good food. Most of my eating experiences here in Amsterdam, was in the Chinatown area. Just just left Oriental city...two of us ordered a meal, sent the entrée back and ate only part of our appetizer; got our check and departed. I have no idea how this is a 4.2 rating. First, let me say the carpets are filthy dirty, and we didn't realize this until we were seated. There are small flies, flying around on the second level where we were seated. While we waited for our food they were everywhere. We both swatted flies on our legs and arms. We ordered the ribs with bone in black bean sauce to share, and when it arrived, it was tasty but there were small chips of bones in the sauce that made it very unpleasant to eat. We sent that entrée back. We had the shrimp and chicken satay which we only ate half because the satay pieces on the bottom of the plate were just sitting in grease. So we paid for our soda and beer and the satay and departed. This is the definition of a tourist trap restaurant. I find it hard to believe any self-respecting Amsterdam person couldn't find a better Chinese restaurant to eat in. read more

We had a wonderful dim meal for two. We had the dim sum standards. With prices in Euros, we at first thought, a little pricey. It turns out for a several good reasons. 1) The dim sum pieces are double the size I am accustom too. 2) The Dim sum was great! 3) The location is 5 minutes from Dam square. So it's in a higher rent area. (Bonus, we sat at a second story window seat and enjoyed watching the world pass by.) 4) Authentic...5) We had friendly helpful service on a Thursday late afternoon before Kings day. Just left the restaurant very disappointed. We placed an order with Tim. He brought the first half of our order and forgot to put in the rest. When we asked where the rest of our food is he said he forgot and the kitchen is already closed. I asked to speak to the manager and he said that he already left. There was nothing to complain about and the staff had a good sense of humor. Even though it was the end of their shift they were as attentive as if the restaurant just opened. There are about 3 levels and plenty of seating. I would say this is some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while comparing it to my home town of NYC. Some of the dishes we had was seafood soup, shrimp dim sum, shrimp toast, fried rice all varieties, chicken, vegetable, Kung Pao Chicken, stir fried lamb chops, beef pepper steak, mussels, Beijing crispy duck, and Peking duck. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you order. They have beer, soda, mixed drinks and some specialty drinks. You can dress casually and prices were very fair. Service was excellent! As Asians of Chinese/Cantonese descent, we felt the food and flavors were authentic. The seafood congee was perfectly flavored and hot. The beef in the fried rice noodles and beef was tender and almost melted in your mouth. Seasoning was perfect. The steamed rice noodles with shrimp were perfectly cooked and delicious. Get the taro birds nest (Lì p yù jio), it was the highlight of our day, they are amazing and you will not be disappointed. Portions are huge so plan accordingly.
