However, the portion sizes were much smaller than expected considering the price for each item. Even my friend's son said, "I'm still hungry," after we finished what we had ordered. Very disappointed. It's a club that serves mediocre food. If that's what you're looking for, then by all means you should go. We went based off the website boasting high end small dishes. We were anticipating thoughtfully prepared Asian fusion cuisine in an elegant setting. We ordered the tasting menu. None of the dishes were inspired. The menu started with an oyster in the half shell with a nice Asian version of a mignonette. The mignonette was excellent but the oyster itself was a little fishy. The sashimi that followed was good but identical to sashimi anyone can get in any decent sushi restaurant. The black cod followed. Like the sashimi, it was good but nothing special. The last main was seared wagyu. It was nicely cooked but the sauce was a completely uninspired sweet sauce that actually detracted from the taste of the meat. The tulip pot dessert was hands down the high point. It was the one part of the menu that felt in any way inspired. The service was friendly but very slow and very disjointed. The music was too loud to allow a meaningful conversation. The dining room is thoughtfully designed and actually quite cool. So, if you're looking for a club that serves mediocre uninspired Asian fusion cuisine, by all means go for it. If you're looking for a nice restaurant with thoughtful Asian fusion dishes, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

The staff were very friendly, it wasn't overly busy but I was staying at Park Centraal and I found myself eating here a few times. Well, if you wanted a trendy chic LA Pan Asian see and be seen joint in Amsterdam, then this is for you! Beautiful people dressed to the hilt in evening wear attire having cocktails and sushi. Honestly what's not to love if that's what you're looking for. We had the tasting menu which seems the way to go vs paying more for a la cart. Some things were very nice. Some were kinda meh. The staff seemed indifferent (not friendly not mean) and they seemed short staffed (which might still be pandemic hangover). Momo is a beautiful restaurant conveniently located near high end shopping and the Rijksmuseum. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar. A nice selection on tequila and specialty cocktails to chose from. Once we sat for dinner we were greeted by a friendly server who took our drink orders and walked us through the menu. Service was very attentive and every dish arrived with a thorough explanation of the components. We had sushi, a soft shell crab and lobster tacos but the highlight was the crispy octopus and roasted corn. The combination of tender octopus and crispy exterior creates a delightful texture, perfectly complemented by the roasted corn. Next time we go we will give the prix fixe menu a try. read more

Was previously a big fan of Momo. But the last two dinners were incredibly disappointing. Yesterday was very poor. The staff was completely disorganized and not very pleasant. The sushi rice was completely off- gummy and some undercooked. The safest thing was my favorite dessert- the Japanese cheesecake- it came out half frozen and the Yuzo foam had been sitting on the cake for what appeared to be a very long time. The waitress was polite but it's clear as day that management has instructed every employee to upsell the customers on the amount of overpriced food. Amazing rolls that are great for sharing. Three rolls and two appetizers were plenty of food for three hungry adults. Definitely try one of the interesting cocktails on the menu as well. I had my eye on this place for a while and meet a friend of a friend here for dinner. It was lovely! The ambience is pretty slick so this is a great place for a first date or a business meal/ semi-formal meeting if you are out to impress a little. We did not make a reservation but it was a mid-week meal so it was nice sat at the bar for 30 mins while we waited for our table. To be honest, make sure you book, I think I got lucky. Momo is set in a lovely building and I didn't realise it was part of a hotel before. She was drinking Hendricks and fever tree tonic and I tried a few of their awesome sounding Martinis which did not disappoint. Food was fusion Asian and very nice! I would go again and do the tasting menu with my husband (perfect date night)*. I had the (Elderflower) Vondelpark Martini which was divine and the Lychee Martini - I would recommend both. We were there a long time so we also ended up getting a bottle of Rioja crianza which was about €48, creamy and full-bodied. It might just be me but I found the Edamame at €4.90 seemed a little pricey for a not huge portion. The Sashimi set came in a huge, iced bowl and the presentation of fish was comme Nobu or MASU in Auckland, NZ. This was 3 pieces of 5 different types of fish. The wasabi I don't remember having before, it was mild and wet and reminded me of fresh seaweed but was nice and well balanced. The Momo rolls and soya shrimp rolls were lovely and you get 3 of each. All other sushi came in 6 pieces and we had the snow crab nigiri. Everything was delicious but not exquisite. My (by now) friend is a huge sushi and sashimi fan; if a bit of a purist, and she liked it but said she'd had better in Amsterdam and she's only just moved here at the beginning of July. I've also had better but overall it was a great place and I really liked it. For these reasons, I'd give it 4.5 not 5 stars only really because of value for price. I'll be back for date night! I ate here with a group of 12 and was able to make a reservation with no problem for a Friday night. A nice lady on the train had recommended it to us, so we thought we would try it out. For 6 pieces of sushi its around €20. The food is good, but you must be willing to drop some serious cash. I arrived at Momo while wandering the streets of the area looking for something that wasn't a tourist trap. Momo is where business types take colleagues, sexy dates begin, and regulars enjoy a good wine and cocktail list, and Asian fusion. I had chicken satay and a shrimp tempura roll. Oddly enough, I've had a lot of sushi in my day, and the shrimp tempura roll was one of the best I had ever had. Tasty avocado was wrapped around it, mm! The vibe is hip and very active. Amazing! There are no other words to describe this laughingstock of a restaurant who love to make fun of themselves. The moment we walk into the restaurant, we were greeted with a free coat check-in; expectations were high. As we were led to our table, we were delighted to here that we would be receiving a choice of either salty or spicy edamame. We chose spicy. A few minutes later, we decided to order the minimum of 4 servings of the set menu. $75 a person. No problem at such an upscale restaurant right? We couldn't be more wrong. Let me remind you that there are 4 people, which we reminded the waiter who came with the first two courses of sushi and meat which all hilariously had 6 pieces each. We were told that it doesn't matter how many people are ordering the set courses to determine the amount of food given. A "standard portion". Great! Ten people would pay $750 for the same amount of food. Great thinking Momo! I wonder what you got on that 5th grade math test. Sure, the two stars generously given are for the "decent food", but these were the tiniest portions we have ever seen at any restaurant (including many Michelin restaurants). Additionally, you remember the spicy edamame the waiter asked us to choose from? When we received our check, we saw the supposedly free edamame for 6 euros. There are a few things you need to keep in mind when dining in Amsterdam, and I speak from the experience of 11 visits. First, expect lousy-to-indifferent customer service. Anything above that should be considered special. Second, the food is either terrible or outstanding. Sure, you can have an OK meal at an eetcafe or a hotel bar here and there, but for the most part the difference is striking. And if you want an outstanding meal, you are going to pay for it. MOMO falls under the expensive, outstanding category. Wow, is it pricey. But, they deliver. The customer service is magnificent - smiles upon greeting, informative and engaged servers, pleasant food runners. The mood and ambiance is striking, from the lighting and table decor to the DJ spinning chill electronica by the bar. This is generally a classy tapas restaurant, and you will want to try many. I recommend steering more toward the Small Plate, Ceviche, Seafood and Meat menus; as opposed to the Sushi menu, which I feel is the weak spot. Some highly recommended dishes include the Black Cod with Spicy Miso - which might be my favorite thing I've eaten anywhere, ever (the fish melts in your mouth, the miso coating will weaken your knees) - the Slices of Marble Beef with lemon truffle dressing, and the Thin Slices of Yellowtail with coriander chili and yuzu soy. The Crispy duck and Ribs in plum sauce were also quite memorable. Every dish is well-described upon delivery. The cocktails, like the food, are expensive, and unfortunately not very strong - but I have a guilty pleasure for the mango mojito, so I usually have one and switch to beer. Like everywhere in Amsterdam, you generally have to beg for your check once done or you'll be there forever, but it's a welcome slow-paced experience where the dishes come as ready, and you leave feeling satisfied and full - even with the inevitable sticker shock at conclusion. read more
