    Pilsner on draft (large)

Four friends traveling through Amsterdam for a few days. Had reservations for the "Upstairs" pancake house at 15:00 and it was about 12:30 as we were walking around locally. Stopped in for some light bites and some beers/sake. Ordered the shrimp pad thai, fried sampler, and a round of beers + two bottles of sake (enough for two rounds) = check came out to about 98 euros. The fried sampler was a great pairing for the brews and the pad thai was average. The shrimp and chicken stuffed gyoza was the absolute best and the veggie "eggrolls" were a close second. Food came out piping hot so that was a plus. For the pad thai, the tamarind flavor was not as bright as I've tasted and the noodles were broken more than desired. I would recommend trying another *unique* item if possible, like one of the rolls or more appetizer selections (especially for a dish that was about 17-18 euros. Regardless, the spot served it's purpose and we enjoyed ourselves and the lovely bathroom. One of the cleanest I've seen yet!

We made reservations and were seated right away. Cute little place. It is quite loud but not too bad. There were some tasty sounding and unique cocktails on the menu. Good wine and Asian (and Dutch) beer options. There were many dishes that sounded good and you can make most vegetarian if preferred. Husband went with the sesame chicken wings and some sushi. He loved the wings. The sushi came out with the wrong fish but was quickly fixed. And multiple people came by to apologize and make sure all was okay. I went for the pad Thai. Huge portion with shrimp, chicken (breast!), and tofu. I liked the spice and it was a bit less sweet than what I am used to. Food came out super quickly. Staff was all friendly and helpful.

Fantastic food. Great service. Fabulous atmosphere. Can't wait to go back 5$3 ahi tuna tartare appetizer was amazing! So was the Thai eggplant curry. Crispy and creamy at the same time!

Great service, great food selection, and they take Amex! I asked the waitress for her recommendation and they were delicious. Tip; Spicy Tuna has more of a kick than in the US.

Delightful little restaurant in the Negen Straatjes. (I do mean delightful even though delightful is word I only use in reviews, I don't say it out loud in real life.) Pretty little restaurant with nice servers, large portions (I over ordered for one) and decent prices. A couple of small tables outside if you fancy that (again, I don't really say fancy either but it fits here, so stay with me) and generous searing inside. It's not a once in a lifetime sushi experience, but if you expect a quality dining experience commensurate (a word I DO use often) with price, this is your place.

Asian fusion restaurant - clean flavors. Ordered the fried Yaki roll which is interesting (crab, avocado, cucumber and salmon) but fried. I also got the Peking duck ramen and Pad Thai. It's interesting, but it doesn't actually taste like any of the things as stated. The ramen is actually spaghetti and the pad Thai doesn't taste like pad Thai, but the flavors are clean and it's still tasty. Opt for tables in the front, I sat in the back and got a mosquito bite. :(

Excellent meal! The waiter was attentive and answered any questions about the menu to the best of his abilities. Wide selection on the menu from sushi dishes to rice or noodle meals. Environment is welcoming and the restaurant was quite clean with a relaxing environment.

These guys have free wifi if you have time to hang out and surf the net, check your email or whatever. It's a relaxed environment for a tasty meal, too There's a few tables outside to sit at when weather permits. They're located in a busy tourist area, de Negen Straatjes, on a relatively busy street with a lot of foot traffic. It's a refreshing change of pace from all the other food in the area. The food appears to be a mix of several asian cultures. There's sushi, pad thai, teriyaki. Would you like chopsticks or silverware? Chopsticks are healthier. That's the first time I've heard that. The service is good. The prices are not too high. They do take away orders. I live around the corner. Hmmmm.

    Best cider ever

They microwave the food here SMH. Best cider ever though, Apple Bandit Cider. Damn I don't know what else to say.

We went based off the website boasting high end small dishes. We were anticipating thoughtfully prepared Asian fusion cuisine in an elegant setting. We ordered the tasting menu. None of the dishes were inspired. The menu started with an oyster in the half shell with a nice Asian version of a mignonette. The mignonette was excellent but the oyster itself was a little fishy. The sashimi that followed was good but identical to sashimi anyone can get in any decent sushi restaurant. The black cod followed. Like the sashimi, it was good but nothing special. The last main was seared wagyu. It was nicely cooked but the sauce was a completely uninspired sweet sauce that actually detracted from the taste of the meat. The tulip pot dessert was hands down the high point. It was the one part of the menu that felt in any way inspired. The service was friendly but very slow and very disjointed. The music was too loud to allow a meaningful conversation. The dining room is thoughtfully designed and actually quite cool. So, if you're looking for a club that serves mediocre uninspired Asian fusion cuisine, by all means go for it. If you're looking for a nice restaurant with thoughtful Asian fusion dishes, you might want to look elsewhere.

We had a bottle of Viognier to go with it. It all worked out at about £35 a head, which in my book is pretty reasonable compared to London. I strongly support the recommendation in other reviews that 2.5 or 3 dishes per person is the right amount to order unless you are fiendishly hungry. The experience of the slightly above average food was greatly enhanced by the great service and the fascinating decor (see photos!). Overall it was a great evening and I am very grateful to the person who recommended it.
