This is a trendy restaurant in Amsterdam Centrum, part of a series by Ron. This one is an oriental style fine dining establishment. The decor is very tastefully done, and I enjoyed the artwork on the wall. We came as part of the Amsterdam restaurant week, the menu was a three course dinner. They have a good cocktail selection and it was fun watching the bartender as we sat at the bar. They start you off with shrimp crackers with their house made sweet chili sauce. For restaurant week they offered a 3 course meal for €30: Starter: a dim sum trio of shrimp, chicken and a wagyu beef steamed dim sum Main course: Peking style duck served with jasmine rice and steamed buns. The duck came with Duck breast, duck dark meat and crispy duck skin Desert: egg white custard with cashews and kumquat ice cream. Loved every dish, flavor and texture all done wonderfully. Everything was beautifully presented, service was on point with each dish explained in detail and suggestions of eating order to get the most out of it. Wonderful first experience with this place and I would want to come back to try their regular menu too.

Pretty trendy here. I went with my Chinese friend so we were fully prepared to experience something that was too close to the original to be called "fusion", but maybe too far to be called "good". Couldn't have been more wrong about this place. In fact the only little incident we had in that vein was when the waitress explained to us with a straight face that "char siu" refers to "the way the pork is sliced" in China... we almost burst out laughing. Seriously, anyone could look this up and know that this was not correct. Why the chef or manager (who I'm sure she got that from) would tell her to say something like that without first looking it up I have no idea. "Fork roast" people... it literally means "fork roast". Anywho... amazing chicken wings- extremely creative. Amazing drinks (I've already stolen some of their variations on the classic G&T). Absolutely amazing duck! So pricey but so, so good. And don't get me started on that wagyu, beef marrow dumpling. You shouldn't miss that bad boy... All-in-all, great fusion, pan-Asian food. Well done guys...

This is Amsterdam's newest Ron Blaauw hard to get into hot spot - after trying multiple failed attempts at both a weeknight walk-in and calling ahead, I finally just asked to be placed on the next evening's waiting list should anyone abandon their reservation and had some luck with this! (hint) I'm being VERY critical of this place as I was wow'ed by Ron Gastrobar previously - the concept and menu are very similar to that restaurant (small plates meant to be shared), but with a Chinese spin to it. I am also a big fan of Asian fusion restaurants and being Chinese myself, I wanted to see how Ron would interpret some of these dishes. With all this in mind, I was not expecting authenticity by any means but I also did not expect to be as underwhelmed as I was. Dim sum was almost a complete letdown - from this part of the menu, we tried two types of siu mai (chicken and scallops), ha kau (shrimp dumplings), and the pork buns. Except for the porn buns, which were excellent if not a tad salty (they're also pan fried as opposed to traditionally steamed, and you'll never get a complaint from me about that!), it seemed as if these were brought in from another dim sum place and a flourish was added on top of each in an attempt to add something to the dish (ex: a dash of wasabi mayo or caviar). Very overpriced for very basic dim sum. Most of the small plates were very good - heads up for those who cannot handle spicy foods whatsoever: many of the dishes DO have quite a kick to them (as denoted by the number of Betty Boops next to each item - wut?). The stand outs for us were the lamb pancake with mango chutney, sweet and sour prawns, wonton salad with pork and crispy peanuts, and black angus tartar. The others were tasty if not a little indistinguishable from each other, with oyster sauce being a main flavor. We also tried the udon noodles - for 5 euros, this was actually a nice big portion, but was definitely not Singapore style by any means. We didn't find anything that appealed to us on the dessert portion of the menu, but luckily our waitress brought out some little cones of gelato (vanilla/cinnamon/sesame) on the house that were yummy! Bigger portions of these, please - I'd even pay you for them! The damage was a little under 300 euros for 6 people (including alcohol - the wine list actually has a number of wines by the glass that are good and reasonably priced, something for everyone). Service is also excellent here, the staff are attentive and can help you make sense of the menu options. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal but I couldn't help but expect more from something with Ron in its name!

I wish I could use half stars here but since I can't I'm going to have to round down to three. It was certainly an all right meal and the experience was about the same. We first sat down we really felt like we were being ignored while ordering. This picked up a little throughout the meal but there were only three other tables there at the moment so wasn't much of an excuse. For the meal and the drinks they were both a little better than average but it didn't knock my socks off. There were a few bites of the duck which were good and then the next would be really chewy and in edible. Both of the side and Swika really nice. The mushrooms had a lot of flavor and the okra especially was nicely cooked and spiced perfectly. Not really sure that we will make a return trip as it's a little pricey for what you gifts but in our case it was special occasion so you decided to splurge on it.

My boyfriend and I came here for an anniversary dinner date on a Sunday. We made a reservation online in fear of it being busy. We walked in and they have a coat check at the door for free, very convenient . The restaurant wasn't too busy, perfect atmosphere, great for a date night! The restaurant is a small plates menu, completely sharable. We ordered oysters, dim sum, and 3 small plates. All items were hot, fresh and delicious! Would definitely go back!

Excellent service. Amazingly, they kept the kitchen open late because we were running late. That would never happen in the United States. Waitress was exceptional and the food was very good. Particularly enjoyed the Peking Duck and the Buns. As well as drunken chicken salad. Very nice design of restaurant!

All dishes were extremely flavourful and though I usually am a big fan of Asian food I have never experienced something like this before. Don't expect a strict traditional Chinese place, but expect the greatest oriental food in the Netherlands and possibly beyond. The price is high, but the quality of food is even higher, so you're actually getting a great deal.

Really good food for a good value. I like the format of Ron Gastrobar and this Oriental version is even better, with a Dim Sum style. Every dish is very curated and the atmosphere is great. Sitting at the bar gives the opportunity to chat with very friendly bar men that invent amazing cocktails on the spot!

Would recommend the dim sum and starters. The pan fried bun is really good. The small dishes need to be tweaked they are the weakest link. Char Sui isn't chat Sui what you would get in Chinese restaurant. Maybe they should tweak the description. Egg tart desert was too heavy, too much filo dough.

Welcome to Haven Van Texel. Right at the north end of the red light district. A colleague of mine said she goes here for traditional Dutch cuisine, so let's get to the food shall we. Of course we're going to snag an order of the Croquettes. Nice bite size potato mash balls with meat in it. These ones are nice and neat with a perfect delicate crunch. Great balance of potato to meat ratio. 8.2/10 For my main event, the Stamppot. This is a rotating dish that's usually different every time. Perfectly seasoned, the meat was fall off the bone and the mash was a delightful side. 8.7/10 The place is really nice, the tables outside do go fast during busy hours. My friend is the…read moreone that discovered this restaurant and made the reservations ahead of time, and from the pictures, it looked like a fun place to eat. I was excited. From research, it seems as though Amsterdam is known for having some good Indonesian food, so that was something we made a priority of trying while we were there. Though somewhat pricey, the entertainment, decor, and food here definitely exceeded our expectations. To eat, we had already decided to order the rijsttafel (rice table), which is essentially a variety of small Indonesian dishes. In total, I believe there were about 15 that we were comfortably able to share and enjoy. In addition, we ordered a few street food appetizers, which included the black angus tartare, tacos, and albacore tuna tartare. Overall, I thought the food was pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the street food appetizers, which were presented very uniquely. While I'm glad we tried the rijsttafel for the authentic experience, there were only a few dishes from it that I really enjoyed. Still, I'd recommend ordering it for the experience. It was pretty cool to try so many Indonesian specialties in one meal. If looking for a fun restaurant to dine at in central Amsterdam, Ron Gastrobar is an option you should heavily consider. The ambiance and atmosphere are unrivaled, and you are bound to have a great time. The live performances are very enjoyable. Service was also very accommodating and friendly, and the drinks were superb. Go ahead and check this place out!

We were all waiting for an elevator to the top floor, which was the restaurant. When we got to the top, no one was there but we eventually found someone to show us our table. The sun was a bit bright because it is already summer but it was a beautiful view as it set. We took every recommendation our waiter gave. We started with cocktails from the small menu and tuna tartar and oysters (with apple, green pepper and ginger dressing). I never eat oysters but I loved these. When it was time for the main food, I told our waiter we were interested in the rijstafel. He recommended that we get rijstafel for four and supplement it with the sea bass. Upon further inspection of the menu, we did that, plus the chicken sate, beef sate and wagyu sate. Everything was amazing. There are a couple of entertainment pieces that come with the meal. Mr. Spicy comes around in a red dinner jacket and asks if you want mild, medium or spicy sauce with your meal. We wanted to try one of each. Later on, Mr. Downtown with the cat head came by for a photo. He never put down his glass. In all, the meal was delicious and the cocktails were unique. I look forward to the next experience here.
