The tables could've been bigger only to fit the spread they bring out so it's not so tight but we made do. We ordered the Authentiek meal for 2 people at ~€100 total. We also ordered wine and beer. The option we chose came with a variety of their meat, fish and veg plates. My favorite was the codfish, beef rendang, eggplant, gado gado, and the baked banana. Indonesian food has a bit of tanginess and heat. It's subtle at first but catches up to you very quickly. The eggplant was so spicy but damn was it delicious. They place a long metal tray on the table with tea lights to keep the warm dishes hot. It's quite an experience and I'd recommend doing it at least once if you've never had Indonesia food before. The service was excellent and restaurant itself was nicely decorated and spotless.

Breakfast also takes place here, which is a classic Western continental with a few Indonesian comforts -- fried rice, prawn crackers, and layered cake. Hot items primarily consisted of eggs, which are pleasantly made to order. We were staying at Pulitzer Amsterdam, so the location couldn't have been easier. The atmosphere is relaxed but still feels special, and the service was attentive without being over the top. The beef tartare was excellent, really well balanced and a generous portion. The salmon with roasted tomatoes and Parmesan foam was cooked perfectly, and the flavors worked together without feeling heavy. The sea bass beurre blanc was another solid choice. We also ordered fries with a Gouda crème dipping sauce, which were hard to stop eating. For dessert, the chocolate tartelette was rich and easily enough for two to share. A really strong start to the trip and a place we'll definitely remember.

We ordered the Dry Aged Filet Mignon and the Halibut for our meals. Both were amazing. The steak comes with fries so we should not have ordered the smashed potatoes. The potatoes weren't very good and didn't add anything to a perfect meal. We really enjoyed the entire experience.

And we had about 15. Four of us selected Rijstrafel / Rice Table for three people and it filled us up. We ate everything. It is probably the best Rijstrafel I've had in Amsterdam. Even the Spekkoek layered cake dessert was delicious. Coming for dinner on the night of World Pride canal parade, the restaurant was slammed. They found us a table near the kitchen. It understandably took awhile for the food to come out, but the owner was very talkative and friendly as were the other staff. It felt like we were at a family gathering in an intimate setting. Do yourself a favor and get the Rijstrafel, even if you're going solo. It's a gastronomic Dutch Indo experience!

I'm glad we did because it was packed on a Tuesday night. It's more than 50 years old so lots of history. We got the full rice table so we could try everything, wow it was a ton of food. Our favorites were the chicken satay, the pork and the omelette. It wasn't spicy as we expected but we added a lot of the spice and sauce which were great. It's a little crowded so they can have enough room for everyone and all their plates. We didn't get dessert but our waiter loaded us up with licorice and mints for the road. He was very lovely.
