Gastropub in a little bit quieter area of centruum. It's right next to the water with outdoor seating which is pretty nice. Not much to speak of in terms of ambiance otherwise. Service is quick to seat you at a table and take your order but after that it's pretty hard to get their attention, and they definitely don't come around to check on you which is disappointing. Food was good, the bread platter had some great sauces but the bread itself was cold, would have been nice for it to be toasted or at least warm. The ribs were delicious, meat falling off the bone, and a decent serving size. The salad was nothing noteworthy but the fries were crisp.

The Bitterballen! I'll remember this place for them. Tasty, authentic (ish) and totally vegetarian! My Dutch co traveler said they tasted just like the original ones that she grew up and got drunk to. So I struck it lucky I guess. Otherwise this place is crowded. And full of tourists the kind of place that I'd happily avoid, in fact I'd usually run a mile to get away from such a place. But my belly was rumbling & we had a train to catch with not too long to wait. So like every other city I decided to eat in the red light district. Nothing like hookers to get the appetite going... oh that's just me?

Situated next to a canal in a Centraal, De Haven van Texel is a hidden gem. Stopped by here on my last night. I was craving something traditional and something different. Ordered Dutch pea soup and chicken satay. Both are amazing. The soup reminded me of American split pea soup. Hearty and delish. Chicken satay was very unexpectedly really good. Something about the chicken, maybe the peanut sauce? I don't know. It was good. Must stop if you're in Centraal Amsterdam. Smoke pot first before hitting this place up.

Stopped here on a day that Amsterdam was experiencing severe heat waves. The waitress was kind of enough to sit us and got us waters away. This location is located right by the water, so you get a nice breeze while seated outside. The food and beverage was absolutely perfect for such a hot day. The food was delicious. Had great presentation. We had ribs. The ribs melted right off the bone and in your mouth. The fries were nice and crispy too. Don't you hate soggy a$$ fries??The drinks were tasty too, had lovely presentation, and refreshing. The drinks were rather large. Definitely worth the price. And the plate was big enough to feed two. Which is what we did, we split the me. You are not going to go hungry here at all. The only thing here, which actually, I have noticed all over Amsterdam. And being from California, it was definitely difficult to get the waitress's attention. I think it might be custom here. You really have to flag them down. Lol. We sat for quite awhile waiting to order. But other than that, the service was very friendly, kind , and professional. Would we eat here or drink here again? Absolutely.

Good gastropub near by central station. Great location with awesome view on canal. We've been here at summer and sit inside. So quite and nice place but outside was so loud and weren't free spaces. Wheat Texel beer was a just good. But their texel burger was so nice. Really big portion with salad and fries with brand yammy Zaanse mayonnaise. Just try it and you will not regret.

The is a great spot on the outskirts of the red light district. The have a great patio to watch the boats on the canal or watch people in the streets. The food here is okay. I have the vegetable quiche. It was good but the crust was a little under baked. The pumpkin roll is tasty and unique. It is served cold so do not be surprised. Overall this is a pretty decent restaurant.

The outdoor dining is fabulous. Somehow the service was great (how do they do that when it's crowded and they have to go up and down stairs and in and out doors??). Lots of choices on the menu. You can people watch and look over the canal all at the same time. The food was great.

Wow, I will totally come back to this place. I loved the warm welcome and non stop friendly chat w/the employee's to the most delicious Pea Soup (filled w/hugh chunks of potatoes, carrots, ham and slices of sausage) to the unbelievably mouth watering brined pork rib. The rib was the most tender and tastiest I've ever had. The owner said that he soaks the pork in salt water to make it tender and add flavor. Then, he cooks it honey n thyme ( I swear, he threw a touch of beer in it) w/fresh carrots, potatoes, peppers, beans, sweet yams, squash...your palate comes alive. This is a must when u come here, I highly recommend it. Two thumbs up, for sure.

A TRUE GEM of a place to grab a brew on the canal...IF you are able to grab 1 of 3 tables 3 steps down from the main patio. I'm sitting here now taking in this glorious location, drinking my Dutch draft beer listening to the church bells sound and watching the boats go by. Nice!!!

Just happened to wander by by this place, and it looked so great to sit by the canal and eat, that we took a table.

Ron Gastrobar Downtown was our first real dinner on our recent trip to Amsterdam. My friend is the…read moreone that discovered this restaurant and made the reservations ahead of time, and from the pictures, it looked like a fun place to eat. I was excited. From research, it seems as though Amsterdam is known for having some good Indonesian food, so that was something we made a priority of trying while we were there. Though somewhat pricey, the entertainment, decor, and food here definitely exceeded our expectations. To eat, we had already decided to order the rijsttafel (rice table), which is essentially a variety of small Indonesian dishes. In total, I believe there were about 15 that we were comfortably able to share and enjoy. In addition, we ordered a few street food appetizers, which included the black angus tartare, tacos, and albacore tuna tartare. Overall, I thought the food was pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the street food appetizers, which were presented very uniquely. While I'm glad we tried the rijsttafel for the authentic experience, there were only a few dishes from it that I really enjoyed. Still, I'd recommend ordering it for the experience. It was pretty cool to try so many Indonesian specialties in one meal. If looking for a fun restaurant to dine at in central Amsterdam, Ron Gastrobar is an option you should heavily consider. The ambiance and atmosphere are unrivaled, and you are bound to have a great time. The live performances are very enjoyable. Service was also very accommodating and friendly, and the drinks were superb. Go ahead and check this place out!

We were all waiting for an elevator to the top floor, which was the restaurant. When we got to the top, no one was there but we eventually found someone to show us our table. The sun was a bit bright because it is already summer but it was a beautiful view as it set. We took every recommendation our waiter gave. We started with cocktails from the small menu and tuna tartar and oysters (with apple, green pepper and ginger dressing). I never eat oysters but I loved these. When it was time for the main food, I told our waiter we were interested in the rijstafel. He recommended that we get rijstafel for four and supplement it with the sea bass. Upon further inspection of the menu, we did that, plus the chicken sate, beef sate and wagyu sate. Everything was amazing. There are a couple of entertainment pieces that come with the meal. Mr. Spicy comes around in a red dinner jacket and asks if you want mild, medium or spicy sauce with your meal. We wanted to try one of each. Later on, Mr. Downtown with the cat head came by for a photo. He never put down his glass. In all, the meal was delicious and the cocktails were unique. I look forward to the next experience here.
