Great burgers!
Kristen C.

Great stop in a good location! Friendly and welcoming staff! Reasonable and delicious food! Burger was outstanding and large. Partner ordered q salad and soup and both were wonderful! Full bar with various beers. Great outdoor seating if weather permits! Recommended! Tips: Ribs looked SO GOOD!!! Women next to us ordered them and said they come frequently and how flavorful they are. Would return for these!

Spanjer en van Twist is a nice place for lunch under the trees and of course, people watching. It's located right next to one of those side canals, so you'll see tour boats, paddle boats, and all sorts of boats go by. To start, we tried the bitterballen. I hated it. Since it was my first time trying it, I don't have any others to compare it to, but the gravy inside this one was super thick - almost chunky. I really did not like it at all. It was very difficult for me to stomach one. For my entree, I went with the burger. I didn't know it had beets in it so if you don't like beets either, make sure you tell them. Other than that, the burger was just okay - nothing to write home about. It was a pretty big portion though. I'm not sure if there was just one waitress working that day, but the service was really slow. It took forever to place our order, get our order, get our check, etc. It probably wouldn't be the best spot for a meal if you're in a rush. Thankfully, we were not. I would not come back as the food wasn't that great. I'm sure there are plenty of other places in Amsterdam for a nice lunch outdoors.

Cozy little restaurant along the canal. Stopped in for a beer and a bite to eat after exploring Amsterdam. We ordered nachos...haha I know, right? They were actually very tasty!! I had a Zeeland Farmers Cheese sandwich with lots of yummy veggies on it. I really enjoyed it!! My husband had a tuna melt which he said was delicious. Located a very short walk from the Ann Frank house, this is a great place to relax and regenerate after exploring all day.

Scene: great for sitting canal side and people watch both on the street and canal. The day was beautiful and this was our favorite part. Service: slow but understandable since they have to cross the street. Also under staffed. We may have came on a high demand day. Not a deal breaker. If we were local, we'd give it another shot. Food: hubby loved the burrito!!! Since we're from Texas, we didn't know what to expect but well done. It leans towards a shepards pie sans potatoes in a chimichanga. I had the broccoli soup which is good and the peach salad was ok.

Best tuna melt I've ever had hands down. The mozzarella buffalo sandwich was amazing. Refreshing and the prefect lunch. Got to sit outside by the canal and enjoy or lunch in the fair fall weather.

Beautiful view right beside the canal

Sit down near the canals and enjoy great food. I ordered dish of the day, which was lamb kebap, and it was the BEST food I had in Amsterdam. Find a table and sit down- the waiter will come find you:)

Very nice place to stay and drink a warm coffee and have a snack.

Artichoke alongside creamy pasta with asparagus and mushrooms. It was the dish of the day.

I would have given this spot a 5 if I were comparing it with U.S. standards. My friend and I sat outside last night overlooking a canal and each ordered the dish of the day. We were both pleasantly surprised when a beautiful helping of creamy pasta with asparagus and mushrooms came out with a baked stuffed artichoke on the side. I hadn't had artichoke that way in so long - it was magical. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a solid, delicious meal.

There was quite a lot of smokers around, so be prepared for your clothes to smell later. The dutch pea soup I had was somewhat heavy for my liking but it was good. Welcome to Haven Van Texel. Right at the north end of the red light district. A colleague of mine said she goes here for traditional Dutch cuisine, so let's get to the food shall we. Of course we're going to snag an order of the Croquettes. Nice bite size potato mash balls with meat in it. These ones are nice and neat with a perfect delicate crunch. Great balance of potato to meat ratio. 8.2/10 For my main event, the Stamppot. This is a rotating dish that's usually different every time. Whatever protein that's available in the market with seasonal vegetables in the mash. It's like a lovely surprise every time I visit. Today we have pork. Perfectly seasoned, the meat was fall off the bone and the mash was a delightful side. 8.7/10 The place is really nice, the tables outside do go fast during busy hours. The staff was nice enough to let us sit by at the bar so we can enjoy some drinks while we wait. I would definitely smash here again. My friend is the…read moreone that discovered this restaurant and made the reservations ahead of time, and from the pictures, it looked like a fun place to eat. I was excited. From research, it seems as though Amsterdam is known for having some good Indonesian food, so that was something we made a priority of trying while we were there. Though somewhat pricey, the entertainment, decor, and food here definitely exceeded our expectations. To eat, we had already decided to order the rijsttafel (rice table), which is essentially a variety of small Indonesian dishes. In total, I believe there were about 15 that we were comfortably able to share and enjoy. In addition, we ordered a few street food appetizers, which included the black angus tartare, tacos, and albacore tuna tartare. Overall, I thought the food was pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the street food appetizers, which were presented very uniquely. While I'm glad we tried the rijsttafel for the authentic experience, there were only a few dishes from it that I really enjoyed. Still, I'd recommend ordering it for the experience. It was pretty cool to try so many Indonesian specialties in one meal. If looking for a fun restaurant to dine at in central Amsterdam, Ron Gastrobar is an option you should heavily consider. The ambiance and atmosphere are unrivaled, and you are bound to have a great time. The live performances are very enjoyable. Service was also very accommodating and friendly, and the drinks were superb. Go ahead and check this place out!

We were all waiting for an elevator to the top floor, which was the restaurant. When we got to the top, no one was there but we eventually found someone to show us our table. The sun was a bit bright because it is already summer but it was a beautiful view as it set. We took every recommendation our waiter gave. We started with cocktails from the small menu and tuna tartar and oysters (with apple, green pepper and ginger dressing). I never eat oysters but I loved these. When it was time for the main food, I told our waiter we were interested in the rijstafel. He recommended that we get rijstafel for four and supplement it with the sea bass. Upon further inspection of the menu, we did that, plus the chicken sate, beef sate and wagyu sate. Everything was amazing. There are a couple of entertainment pieces that come with the meal. Mr. Spicy comes around in a red dinner jacket and asks if you want mild, medium or spicy sauce with your meal. We wanted to try one of each. Later on, Mr. Downtown with the cat head came by for a photo. He never put down his glass. In all, the meal was delicious and the cocktails were unique. I look forward to the next experience here.
