I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: The location is okay. It's kind of near some more busy areas. 3/5 ATMOSPHERE: We sat inside and it was just okay. They also have an outdoor area as well, but it honestly didn't look as nice and clean. 2/5 SELECTION: They have a lot of standard options for a standard restaurant, but I like that they have a lot of clearly-marked vegan options as well. 3/5 WHAT I GOT: I got their Buddha Bowl without walnuts or edamame, and with the dressing on the side. I liked all the other ingredients and the concept of that bowl overall, and it looked nice too. But, it was also small (don't let the picture deceive you lol), dull (the ingredients didn't seem fresh and vibrant, and it seemed like it had been sitting out), and oily. It was a little disappointing. 2/5 SERVICE: The employees seemed nice-ish, but I have to put a low score because our food took forever to come out, and they weren't even busy. 2/5 read more

Great concept, amazing atmosphere, delicious finger food, great location and super friendly staff. I will definitely recommend this spot, and visit again next time I pass by Amsterdam. It's with real regret that I'm giving three stars to such a trendy and interesting restaurant with an equally as interesting story. The wine selection along with our appetizers were great; butterfly shrimp and my first bitterballen. However our entrees were such a complete miss. I played it safe with a chicken Caesar salad and it left much to be desired, I could've done without the pancetta and the chicken was bland in my opinion. The carne con queso, I was told by my boyfriend, "did not taste good at all." Again, the restaurant itself has great character. Not to mention phone charging lockers on the way to the restrooms, what a save! I really hope in future travels to Amsterdam I can provide an updated review. While I so badly wanted to love Bar Jackson Dubois, I only ended up liking it very much for the ambience and appetizers. read more

3.5 stars I have very mixed feelings about this place. It's cozy (almost a little too cozy--but that happens in this city) and the staff was friendly. The location can't really be beat, and I'm sure in the summer they will be bursting with tables on a terrace which is great for people watching. *Seating* We were three people and put at a square table that made 3 people possible if all items were cleared as they were finished. It was a little hard to have 3 drinks and our 4 small dishes on the table. And it was in front of the door. On a cold and rainy night, this wasn't nice. *Food* I was quite happy with the food. Between the three of us, we got to taste quite a few dishes. The menu isn't huge, but I don't like big menus. Do something, and do it well...don't try to do everything! It was hard enough to choose from this menu! The Waygu burger (which is slider size) was on point. Very tasty and cooked well. Ceviche was quite tasty as well as beautiful. I love the citrus flavor on the fish. oh so good! The tortilla was one tortilla with beef tips tomato salsa, avocado, and jalapeno. The straw fries are basically shredded chips and slightly awkward to eat--but tasty. The Creme Catalana was very tasty and similar to a Creme Brulee--but quite shallow which was surprising. This place knows their flavors! *Drinks* They like their champagne...a lot and the drink menu is bigger than the food menu. You can get some tradition cocktails, cocktails made with beer, or cocktails made with champagne. I got the Tree of Life which was very delicious, but served in a champagne flute (read: small) and on the higher end of the acceptable price scale for a cocktail in my opinion. There is also a beer and wine list along with, of course, a nice champagne list! *Service* Everyone seemed quite pleasant after we were seated. The place is very odd and has quite the quirkiness. It's a place that serves street food type food in paper containers but in an upper scale ambiance and they are kind of a champagne bar...what?! How does that work? So, it looked like a place someone would actually seat you once you mentioned you'd like a table, but they basically said that there were two to choose from and we sat ourselves. This is not unusual for Amsterdam, it just seemed like a place that would be a step up. The girls who served us were extremely attentive most of the night until we were ready to leave. Then it took a while to get their attention. When we wanted to pay, we ended up having to go to the bar since needed to leave. It's just the little things, you know? *Prices* I think the cocktails are a little too high for what you get. The food is on small plates, so keep that in mind. I'm mostly ok with the food prices, but are a little high for the portion. The straw fries are not worth paying that price for though. Sorry, but no. *Overall* Nice atmosphere, and maybe a nice after-work spot to grab a bite to eat before going shopping or to a movie. read more

During the day, this is Esprit Cafe, at night it changes. Although it features the best champagne list of any bar I've seen in a while, and the design of the place is not bad, this place is a bit too much concept for me and too little soul. The drinks and service I got here were very good though, with staff minding your presence more then usual for this part of town. Haven't eaten here yet, so I'll definetely come back another time to give it a try:-). read more

Definitely nothing to brag about except for the pitcher of the cava sangria, the bitterballen appetizer and the atmosphere. The burrito and carbonara were good but it lacked a lot of flavor. There wasn't a lot to choose from on the menu either. read more

was such a fan of this place - cute, modern, wonderful backstory of the owner, great food & price,,, which could have been a 5 star review; however, the service was a total miss. our bearded hipster waiter from itialy was flirting hard with a couple of russian ladies next to our table. we waited over 30 min for drinks (not even food, but for a glass of wine and a bottle of beer while one couple finished their dessert, left, then a new couple sat down and got their bottle of wine!). finally, we flagged down another waiter; to find out the order was never placed?! the other tall blond waiter was apologetic and offered the drinks on the house. eventually our waiter brought out dinner and drinks, and apparently there was some sort of mix-up. throughout the dinner, he squeezed himself and sat on the sofa next to us and began exchanging the phone numbers and continued to chat with the ladies. omg dude, i am all for supporting your "game" but seriously? you are going to sit down on the tight sofa next to us and flirting with the ladies while ignoring other customers? the other side of table saw this shenanigan and we exchanged "the look" like, come on, buddy, get it together. the kicker was the bearded hiptster waiter brought the bill and our drinks were charged. i questioned the charge and reminded him the other waiter said they'd be on the house because we waited over 30 min. he had the audacity to say it couldn't not have been over 30 min and that only 10 min has passed by. i just gave him the look of "resting bitch face" and said i kept the track of time. at the end, he obliged and fixed the bill, but as we were leaving the last comment we heard from the waiter was, 'i will bring wine' to the ladies. read more

Located in a popular location in Amsterdam and ample seating. Servers spoke English to accommodate most customers. There was confusion between the waiters, however, causing our food to be delayed by an hour and a half. Regardless of the wait time, the food that came out of the kitchen was tasty and well-prepared. The mousse was also decadent and rich. It seemed sweeter than most, but naturally sweet. The timing was the only mishap to this experience. read more
