Service was VERY slow. We had to find someone to seat us. We ordered a chicken sandwich with no onion. It came with onion. We told the waitress and she took it back and redelivered the plate in about 1 minutes. Clearly not a new sandwich as there were still remnants of onion on the bun. Stunning rooftop views, on par with some of the best rooftop bars I've visited in LA. The bartenders are real pros as well---we asked for a mixed drink with Jenever, and they made an interesting old-fashioned with it. Easily a highlight of our trip. read more

I earlier visited restaurant Moon in this tower, which is a very good, very nice restaurant which offers very nice food and great service with amazing views. That experience was most satisfying. But this time I wanted to see Wat Madam at night is all about. I earlier visited Madam during the day for food, which is quite nice. And the views again, the views! When in Amsterdam, visiting the tower is a must. Views are spectacular! This time we checked Madam out on a Saturday night, when the venue turns into a nightclub. But: not a very classy one I'm sorry to say. More something for tourists. Everything feels a bit cheap I'm afraid. And worse: the soundsystem is not up to the task to fill the venue with nice quality sound, and was even bad, clunky, hollow sounding. Which is a shame, because the people who invested in this venue are all from the Amsterdam music industry... Also the dj disappointed: He almost only played top 40 hits from the 90's... No, nothing classy about that either. It felt like being in an English soccer bar. I ordered cocktails (nothing really special on the menu, just the usual) and some simple snacks like crisps and a sliced up sausage, because the kitchen had closed. It took a long while for something that didn't need any cooking or 'kitchen efforts' to arrive at our table. When I politely asked, the waiter said I should be thankful that he managed to arrange these anyway, because of the late hour... Okay. Why 15€ for the sky lookout area when you can charge me for drink and snacks. Madam, the restaurant. Transforms into a nightclub/lounge after 21:30, but there is absolutely nothing chic about it. I think the owners ran out of money after the purchased of the building. Concrete floor and cheap furniture but the view, the view and the view is very expensive and chic. Wearing heels on a slippery concrete floor is not so HOT. The seats are uncomfortable, they could have done a much better job. Ok the toilets, OMGSH, bravo, the architect did a fab job with the windows, however they need to hire an attendant, the toilets were very very dirty and the cheap decore continues. The staff are very excited about the new building and Etc... Fine They are polite, unorganized and no EYE CANDY. Restaurant is fully booked for the next 2 weeks, ermmmmOk, I need to go back to try their cuisine, preferably during sunset. Would I recommend you to pay the 15€ for the view, yes, sure, of course, that is the only wow factor. Would I recommend the nightclub/lounge, no, but only if you are a tourist. Love this place! My boyfriend and I came here for our last night in Amsterdam and it did not disappoint. When you walk in the receptionist asks for your reservation and then sets the elevator to take you to the restaurant, I believe there are three or four in the building, so I suggest making a reservation beforehand. The atmosphere is so romantic and chic and the food is wonderful. I got the duck liver and my boyfriend got the angus burger; for dessert he had pineapple carpaccio and I had the chocolate mouse with vanilla ice cream. The service was wonderful as well.But the best part was the view! That was the main attraction and it was spectacular. If you're looking for a romantic night out this is the place to go! read more

Perfect lunch date! We couldn't get in for dinner reservations during our time in Amsterdam, but we enjoyed our time here in the afternoon. Overlooks like water/Amsterdam harbor.... only option is to do a 2 or 3 course meal but the food is incredible. We started with the smoked salmon and the steak tartare, and finished with the burger and the catch of the day (cod) the flavors were phenomenal. Make sure to go up to the Skydeck! Great views of the city on the rooftop and the "lookout" swing *we did have to take a free ferry over from the central station - keep that in mind!* read more

Dinner and a show. Nice view over the entire city (you can easily see Schiphol and further) and they really put in an effort to make it an event with lights and photo's beeing taken. Also the food and the service are very good. You do have to have a reservation for diner, but lunch is also very good. read more

The food was pretty delicious - but I think everything was more tasty because of the view. My big complaimt is the constant flow of tourists coming through the side of the resturant. No one wants to feel like they are on display while enjoying dinner. The wait staff are very friendly - but also very busy - I don't think the unnecessary people wandering through help. I wish there was a partition between the observation deck and the reaturant. It cheapens the entire experience. read more

We had dinner there last night, the woman who welcomed us at the door let us stand there for 15 minutes before she showed us our table. When I told her that I was afraid she forgot about us because we stood there for so long, she looked angrily at me and sneered: I was in the restaurant. At the table, we had to wait another 15 minutes before a waitress gave us the menus and asked what we wanted to drink. The food and drinks were not only impeccable and obviously the view not to be missed, but the service was really noteworthy. The bartenders were patient and conscientious. It was also the first time I'd ever seen a twist used to rim the stem of the martini glass. My advice: Go for a drink. This is the sort of restaurant that is all about itself and not terribly interested in those who come to dine there. The place has fantastic views of Amsterdam -- that the restaurant seems determined to make sure diners can't enjoy. If you hit the bar, you can move around and see what you want to see. In the restaurant, the food is good at best. Had a great asparagus starter. Ordered the haddock for an entree -- very bland. As for the view... We were pleased to be seated at a table that provided a clear shot to the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the IJ and Central Station. My view was blocked by a 7-foot potted plant placed right in front of the window closest to us. Why you would put a big bush in front of a tremendous view is beyond me. Anyway, if I craned my neck a bit to the right, I could look out another section of window. That view was blocked by a ledge halfway up on which was placed a big box of menus and to the right of that a big box of wine and to the right of that a big tub of chilling wine. After I asked our server if he could move the menu box a foot to the right, so I could look out a sliver of the window, he gamely stepped up and did it. It was lovely, for a second. He was then excoriated by the hostess who had seated us and he sheepishly moved the box back and blocked my brief view. The hostess then came over to our table and said that while she understood we were excited by the prospect of looking out over Amsterdam, all the stuff that was blocking our view (other than the plant) constituted "our work space." Hmmm. I wondered why it was those who worked there, worked there. To make money, sure, but maybe also to please customers? Maybe not. Anyway, the whole thing felt a little bit like a Saturday Night Live skit on the hottest restaurant in town. So, go for a drink. Skip the pricey, mediocre food. Great view over the city, very nice personnel and great atmosphere. However, there is disorganization on the overlook vs the bar. The wait staff needs to learn the small bite menu. I would recommend the place, but research what parts you want to research before arriving. read more
