I had ordered the seared tuna and my wife had ordered the rump steak. Both were cooked to perfection and both very tasty. We had ordered fries, beet root, and stir fried veggies for appetizers to share. The fries came with a garlic aoli/mayo, that was very tasty. Overall, our service was at Vlaming was impeccable, the food was excellent and the price was in line with what you'd expect. Sat outside on a lovely warm night, started with a beautiful and tasty lentil salad and a creamy rich yellow pepper soup. Both were yummy. The mains were three large pieces of filet of sole and a perfect medium rare duck breast. Both were delicious and good sized portions. We also shared a side of crispy fries which were also very good. Service from the staff at Vlaming was exceptional. Friendly and gave very good advice about the wine and food choices. Had a nice time talking to another family sitting next to us, also from California. Vlaming was an excellent restaurant choice for our first night in Amsterdam.

When the manager realized our friend was sitting there with a salad while the rest of us were waiting for our food, he told the kitchen to fire our plates. We had a burger and scallops coming. At least our friend's food wasn't going to get cold. When our food arrived, mine was baked chicken. I ordered what said 'scallops' in their English menu. The manager came over and explained that there was a misprint on the English line of the menu and they haven't had it fixed and the waitress didn't know but he promised the chicken was good. We were pressed for time at this point. We had plenty of time when we arrived but since the waitress was waiting for us to eat my friend's salad as an appetizer before telling the kitchen make our food, the time was burned by the time our food finally arrived. The worst part was they don't do take away in Amsterdam, apparently. I had to admit it smelled divine. I shook the manager's hand and thanked him before I dug in. This is probably the best chicken dish I've ever had. Seriously. It was so perfect. Juicy, perfectly cooked, crispy skin, and flavor throughout. The Pommes friets were perfect too. It was awful that I didn't have more time to properly enjoy the whole dish and get my fill but we had to run to catch a boat for a canal tour. Highly recommended to give them a try.

A very warm and romantic eatery with just the right lighting and ambience that fits the city. The menu was great. We started with the Beetroot salad with goat cheese and apple. You could taste the apple and cheese instantly which in turn made the beets taste sweet and tart! It was a genius combination! There was nothing left when we finished...our main course were both equally as good. I had the risotto with Parmesan cheese and mushrooms. Cooked to perfection. My spouse had the grilled swordfish with green asparagus and sals! The fish was very fresh the asparagus was outstanding!
