Excellent food and beautiful views. We went twice during our two day trip in Amsterdam! I was craving salad after being in Paris and Seville for a week and the goat cheese salad was excellent and so fresh.

    Bitterballen balls. Excellent

Stumbled upon this place. It was cloudy and slow. Really needed a snack and a beer. This place is perfect for that. Bitterballen are meatballs and 8.75 for 7 delicious meatballs. Caution they are as hot as lava when they first come out. The mustard dip does not cool them. On a sunny day I'll bet the patio rocks. I Iike inside. There was a local named Nigel having some afternoon bevys and chatting with the bartender. Love the chit chat.

Very classic coffee shop. Great service, great coffee and the cookie was a bonus. Will certainly be back!

    Spareribs! Delicious!

We chanced upon this most excellent bar and restaurant purely due to location; Myrabelle is located directly across the B&B we stayed. Plus, the B&B owner recommended it highly. As soon as we walked in, the gentleman and I could tell that we had made a good choice: the bar area was full of locals and no tourists were in sight! We ordered some lagers and some bitterballen (a Dutch specialty! a kind of fried meatball). Then, we proceeded to split an order of the spareribs. Trust me, one entree-sized portion of the spareribs is quite ample for two. They were served with fries, salad, and an assortment of great sauces. Yum! Service was wonderful, with both our bartender and owner explaining the menu and chatting with us. Highly recommend.

Low key bar that opened late and still serve food. There's not much options on food late at night in this area. We got the burger and fried pork chop. Decent but nothing special. We were able to fit our stroller inside so that was nice. Toilets are small and there's no changing area for baby.

Lunch is considerably cheaper than dinner, but dinner portions were large- those ribs is a full rack!

Have to agree with everyone else here, food is great, ribs were a full rack of delicious. My wife got the sea bass which was also very good. Was only able to eat 3/4 of the ribs and not even half the fries. €40 for 2 entrees and 1 beer. Didnt have room for starters or dessert.

Great place for lunch. Loved their sandwiches and a very good value.

Found this place because of Yelp, and it was a gem. We had lunch there 3 times, trying differ sandwiches. The roast beef was very good but the hands down winner was the tomato and mozzarella with pesto! They have great fries, too! Outdoor seating available on the canal or the street, the inside seating is limited but charming.

This isn't the full serving of French fries! I put some on my plate for a picture.

Great cozy restaurant. Not a lot of room, but the food was great. I had liver for the first time here and loved it.

We came in and grabbed a seat at the back where there were tables and booths. I had to go to the bar because nobody comes to you. 3 beers 3 tequilas = 50 euro, had our drinks and left.

We arrived pretty late around 3am, and they didn't let us order any cocktails which seemed strange (maybe it was because it was too late at night?). No matter -- we ordered 3 pints of Heineken and sat down at a table by the bathrooms. Tip: This was a terrible table. I got hit by the men's bathroom door upwards of 15 times before finally rage-quitting and making all my friends scoot close together at the other side of the table. Everyone here speaks English, and the small dance floor is lit up with different colored lights. The atmosphere is very San Francisco dive-bar-esque. On a Sunday night at 3am, there were about 30-40 people there which was pretty impressive if you ask me. Also, the bouncer is hilarious and super nice. They started kicking us all out around 3:50am so we just walked along the red light district and canals for the rest of the night before heading back to the airport.

Cafe de Wetering…read moreis a very quaint, charming bar that was an excellent place to stop and get a drink on an 18+ family trip to Amsterdam. It's not noisy, has a charming interior and exterior, and has a very local vibe. The bartenders speak great English (just as virtually everyone does in the Netherlands), and the prices for drinks are good. We almost didn't stop by here because my Dad doesn't like to go to places that don't have hundreds of positive Yelp reviews, so hopefully this review helps convince someone wary of trying places without doing extensive research in advance to stop by.

Here is a cool list of them: https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/see-and-do/eating-and-drinking/brown-cafes Brown cafes were my favorite part of Amsterdam. Some Internet info about them: "The brown café, the "bruine kroeg" in Dutch, is known for its dark wood and smoke-stained walls. These cozy watering-holes are an essential part of Amsterdam culture. For many people, their local brown café becomes an extension of their living room. Many of these establishments have been around for centuries, and earned their nickname because they feature wooden interiors surrounded by walls stained a yellowish-brown hue due to years of smoke." Of all the brown cafes I visited, this was my favorite. For one single reason. A working fireplace! And they had a cat roaming around. Contrary to what you might think, brown cafes have food! Some, like this one, just have meat and cheese, while others have fried goodies like bitterballen. What a wonderful place to spend a cold or rainy afternoon.
