I've been to multiple Wagamama locations and enjoyed each experience. This specific location was a nice surprise, located right across the street from where my husband and I were staying in Amsterdam. I was excited to show my husband this spot, realizing he'd never been before. The wait staff was very kind and accommodating. Even giving us our preferred booth seating. With that being said, the wait for our food was a little lengthy. And when I say a "little lengthy" we waited about an 45-an hour. The best part of Wagamama is perhaps its organized environment. The price is average but with the 25% discount we had as part of the Iamstersam card/city pass, it was relatively affordable. The food portions were good as well. We got the wagamama ramen and noodles with bulgogi. Warning that while these dishes were good, they are not the standard ramen or bulgogi one would be expecting. The broth was clear and the egg was fully cooked, unlike usual ramen where the broth would have been cooked for hours with oil and a tint of light brown. The usual egg on the other hand would likely have a liquid core. Nonetheless, the soup noodle was still good. Meanwhile the bulgogi with noodles was not as tasty unfortunately due to the overcooked meat. We had requested for medium but it came out fully cooked. Just a suggestion to caution that request. Outside of food, environment and service were both good. We walked away feeling satisfied. read more

On August 8th, my wife & I came here for a nice dinner around 19.20 PM. Having seen positive reviews , we were encouraged. First host started to seat us at a table with a bench like a picnic table. We are older and it is difficult for us to sit on a bench and get in and out, so we requested a booth. A second host began to seat us , yet he would not seat us at a booth. He began to argue telling us he would not sit us at a booth because they were for larger parties. I pointed out there were several booths open and other twosomes were in booths, but he denied us the opportunity to sit at a booth. We told the second host that we would leave. I went to the manager to say that what had happened to us was wrong in my opinion. The second host came over arguing. I quietly and firmly told the manager that I wanted to speak to him and I had to tell the arguing host, " I would not talk to him. " The manager dismissed the hostile host and listened to me and explained why we could not sit in a booth. I told the manager that I understand that he is supportive of the second host, yet I felt what happened was not fare and was wrong. I can not recommend the Wagamama Restaurant, on the reasons of hostile , poor treatment. read more

Dropped by wagamama after a long cold walk in the city. It's one of the few restaurants that has a good scene and get seated pretty quickly. The restaurant is usually pretty busy, but the service is surprisingly reliant. Overall looks like a cute Asian fusion place with yummy fresh juices and a good Asian selection. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Udon, Tofu Pad Thai and the Chicken Katsu. While I won't tell you everything is very authentic to its cultural flavor, it is far better than I expected from a Dutch Asian fusion chain. Every dish is tasty and unique. Attempted to eat here. Yes, attempted. We thought it would be good to give this a place a try before catching a train back to London. It had a sign at the door that says: "please wait to be seated." A few minutes go by and nobody comes. Went up one of the servers and asked to be seated. Okay, good. 10 minutes go by, nobody comes around. I looked over to the people sitting next to us, and they were waiting impatiently for their bill. That was when decided to just get up and leave. None of the servers seemed to notice. The place has a rather big dining room with lots of seats, and large rectangular tables - so there's room for many guests but it kinda lacks personality. Can't believe I got a cold while in Amsterdam. Good thing we found Wagamama! Loads of noodle soup bowls were consumed. Soup is for what ails you and this worked like a charm! The availability of spicy alternatives helped too. Once I was better I was already hooked on the bowls and we came here at least 3-4 more times. We probably should have purchased stock. After Amsterdam we were off to London then Edinburgh. Locations in London were no where near as inviting or yummy so we decided to stop and just focus on the comfort of the Amsterdam locations. (The one near Amstelstraat was our main go to but we did hit another location). Service was OK and I'm not really into the communal table thing (especially when sick) so we did some to go orders and enjoyed our food in the park. Yesterday we found ourselves near Rembrandtplein in search of a NORMAL place to eat and stumbled upon Wagamama. Interior seemed modern, it smelled delicious from the open kitchen and the place was quite full for the hour. We easily found a table for six though, the waitress was friendly and took the order right away. All the dishes came at a different time, and though we were told it's the style, it still disappointed me, especially when you are with a few friends (some people already finished their food whilst others were still waiting). I guess if you order small plates to share that won't be a problem. The food itself was quite decent. Ebi Katsu (Deep-fried Shripms) were tasty, Duck Gyoza were nice (reminded me of Beijing Duck taste, though the dough was a bit dry), Terikyaki Chicken Donburi was good as well, but the Pork Ribs were the star of the evening. Really sticky, flavourful and fell off the bone. The Teppanyaki and Donburi dishes our friends had were all really big and delicious. Next time i'm coming for one of the Ramens. As the menu is quite big I would really recommend you order several dishes to share with your friends, to get more samples and the idea of different tastes presented in Wagamama. Keep in mind they also have a small but nice selection of Asian beers. Averall Wagamama is not something really distinguished, but is quite a decent place to eat with fitting price tag and big portions. I wouldn't expect wonders, but it's definitely better than majority of places near Rembrandtplein. I had a good time at Wagamama. There was a bit of trouble getting seated in a timely manner. However, there was only one server today. The kitchen seemed to be slightly short on staff as well. The restaurant is spacious and has a pleasant atmosphere. My rice dish was very delicious and I was satisfied after the meal. I also tried some of the ramen. The noodles were subpar but the wontons were good. In general, try the rice dishes, as long as you don't touch the ramen dishes, it should be fine With the I-Amsterdam card you can also get a 25% discount here. Just a tip for tourists. read more

A warm and inviting restaurant, the interior has a unique feel to it making you feel at ease and comfortable. Sadly there was only one member of staff working making drinks, serving food and cleaning tables. This made for impeccably slow service and doesn't give a great impression when you see one guy doing three people's jobs. Thankfully the member of staff was friendly and efficient with all the work he had to do. The food arrived well presented and was vibrant with flavor, the meat was tender and cooked to just the right standard. I would suggest in future a minimum of two members of staff working to make sure service is efficient and what one would come to expect from a well known restaurant.
