this is an ayce place where there are a few rules but the food is pretty decent. you can only order 4x dishes at a time per person on a tablet, and you can only do one round every 10 minutes. it seems like not a lot of time, but we took up the full two hours and were stuffed at the end. this place is pretty efficient and brings the food out so fast so you can really maximize the time. the food here is decent for ayce. sushi is fresh but i think the chinese dishes like some of the stir fry is the best part. the noodles and rice are mid though, so would skip the carbs. the desserts are also amazing, my favorite dish was the fried banana. definitely think this place is worth it, especially considering how high amsterdam food prices typically are. read more

Such an elegant and beautiful place to walk into! The setting is so classy and modern. This is one of our best experiences in Amsterdam. Normally I don't expect too much from all-you-can-eat sushi place, but the experience here is an exception. Every item was freshly prepared per order. You are not picking out half cold food from a buffet. You are picking 4 items at a time. The chef makes them with warm rice and crispy seaweed. Once you finish a round, you can pick 4 more, and so forth. I liked every item I tasted: Eel sushi Salmon (both sushi and sashimi) Tuna sashimi Grilled sea bass Wonton soup with shrimp BBQ spare ribs BBQ Peking duck The staff are very nice and attentive. We have been here on a launch. Lot of things here are bad. And we won't go here again. Every person has 5 rounds by 5 dishes (max.). Menu choices are very small and at every round you order the same things. Also you should write your order on a special order list by pencil (this isn't really well). Waiter deliver your order by parts and it looks a bit tricky (you should always keep in mind your item set at all). Drinks are obligated on each person and not included in a price (you cannot order tap water). Sushi are not so good as well. They are very small, just 3 rolls per 1 dish, not so tasty. They do an "All You Can Eat" thing...but this is NOT your run-of-the-mill buffet place...ohhhhh NO...! ;-) They give you a menu, with wee numbers next to the dishes; then you get a ticket where you indicate how many you want of a certain dish...you can get 5 dishes per person each "run" (that's what they call each time you indicate you want more food...!) You're allowed 5 "runs" in all...a BARGAIN for €19.95 pet person (before 6pm) Him Indoors has never been too fussed about sushi, but he VERY happily tucked in to the sea bass nigiri and salmon maki...he has declared we WILL be back-apparently!! ;-) The food is all prepared to order, so no worries about raw fish lying around unrefrigerated or anything like that...everything is EXTREMELY fresh-and VERY delicious!! Why wasn't this communicated before we begin ordering? What was he gonna do if we never ordered a drink to begin? Tell us "you have to now pay for the meal you ate a la carte since you didn't order a drink" ? Please this is a ridiculous excuse your waiter used to tell us. This all you can eat is only 5 pieces per person for 5 rounds so each person only gets 25 items. With many restrictions and limitations, this is the worst all you can eat place. It's quite spacious inside. Went there with a group of friends. Food was nice, variety is so so, do not have many choice after 3 rounds. This is the most interesting concept I've experienced! The menu is extensive with each item having an assigned number. Each person in your party selects 5 menu items for 5 separate "courses." A menu item may be a piece of nigiri, three pieces of a roll, a miso soup, etc. The server brings each course to the table and once you've finished, they process the order for the next course. There's no waiting! I think the average person will only make it through 3 or 4 courses! The atmosphere is very warm yet spacious. The toilets are spotless! Really enjoyed this place and I was not expecting it to be good. The "all you can eat" advertising is true (you can eat probably enough to be over stuffed), but they have safeguards against waste, which makes the quality of the food much better than other all you can eat sushi places. You have to pay for food you order and do not consume, and you make choices in you order during 5 rounds. This allows you to get a ton of food, without wasting it. The price was good for how much good quality food we were able to get. The service and ambiance were also quite nice. Probably will be back if I am ever in Amsterdam! read more

I have nothing personal against this restaurant and want to give my opinion on a Friday night dinner. I do not wish to offend anyone. I disclose that on a scale of 1-10, I'm probably a level 7 sushi snob. price: 28 euros per person on weekends, limit 25 dishes per person. service: We didn't have reservations and were able to be seated. Our server and the floor managers were nice and fairly attentive considering it was a full house. The food runners on the other hand slammed the dishes on our table. I normally don't care about service if the food is good, see my food review below. Tap water not available, we paid 5.50 euro for a bottle water to share. food: mediocre at best. This is where I felt misled by all the 5 star reviews. It was a mix of dim sum, sushi, fried/grilled items. What did I expect when eating in the middle of the most touristy area of amsterdam? This is what I sampled: 1) salmon nigiri and handroll: the only item I found to be edible, but salmon is generally pretty good in Holland. The salmon was on par with supermarket sushi which is decent. 2) scallop and amaebi nigiri: mushy and nasty 3) salmon sashimi salad: too heavy on the fish sauce and didn't go well with the salmon 4) grilled lamb chop and spareribs - too heavy on the brown sweet sauce on an otherwise good lamb chop 5) fish roe sushi - just ok 6) beef carpaccio - not bad 7) tomato soup - tasted like watered down ketchup and syrup sweet. not good 8) miso soup - can't mess this up 9) tuna and cucumber roll - canned tuna. enough said. 10) fruit salad - good 11) tuna nigiri - stiff piece of fish that tasted frozen 12) soft shell crab roll - mostly batter and tasted like rancid oil 13) spicy tuna roll - not bad, I ate it. ambiance: nightclub scene, no windows, full bar, english pop music. bottom line: if you're looking for an authentic sushi experience, this isn't it. Happened to see this sushi place at lunch time. It advertises at the entrance there are over 100 items to choose from. Actually there are very limited items on lunch menu. The waiter brought us the dinner menu the moment we sat down. We were told that there were more selections if we chose dinner menu €26.95/person instead of lunch menu €19.95/person. Chose lunch menu for trying out. The food is ok. You will get the quantity. I ordered the salmon sushi, gyoza and seaweed salad again for the second round. Ordered the green tea (€5.5) for two. At the end I asked the waiter for some hot water to refill my tea cup, the answer is that you need to order another cup. Overall it was disappointing experience. Will not go back. read more

So much to say about this place. Interior is claustrophobic. There are absolutely no windows in the main room or upstairs. Decent all you can eat place, BUT with the common hidden costs! You are oblidged to order drink with your food, leftovers are being charged with 1 euro a piece etc. So it is practically impossible to stay at your 28euro for the all you can eat. All you can eat? Sure. But you have to make one order at a time and then jump through all sorts of hurdles to get what you want. The staff is not very accommodating either, and they make it plain that you'll be charged 2 euros for every item you leave behind. They constantly ask you whether you need more water or another beverage (their beverages are quite small by U.S. standards), but they are very slow to complete your all-you-can-eat orders. It took me an hour and a half just to get enough so that I felt full, and I had a train to catch not long thereafter. That being said, the sushi was fresh and of good quality. Really great food, but the service sucks. Came here Friday night and ate some sushi. Was so good that I wanted to come back again the next day for the early bird special - which was advertised very largely both at the front of the restaurant, on the menu, and even on the bathroom door stalls. Clear, large print saying 4-5:30 pm, all you can eat, 21.95 Euro. After 5:30 it is 28.95. My friend and I came in the restaurant at 5:12, very excited about getting the all you can eat. The restaurant had some people in it, but it was by no means busy. There were a good 15-20 tables open. The hostess/manager told us that there was no way we could come in to eat, that she had so many reservations for 6 pm that there was no way she could accommodate us. It was completely booked up. She told us the next time we could come in was 8 pm. We discussed with her that we had been excited about coming here all day, and really just want to eat here. After a while, she said, okay, you can come back at 6 then, I think I can fit you in. So we said wait, if you can fit us in at 6, then why can't you fit us in now? Then she started pretending to not understand, and said there's nothing she can do, we just have to come back at 6. Guess what. We came back at 6, and there were now even more tables open, at least 20. The whole point was so that we could not get the early bird special price. It was incredibly obvious. For that reason, as well as the service during dinner, I have to give this place 2 stars. Really bad management and customer service. However, like I said, the food is really good.
