Nice ambiance! Unprofessional service! The lady server gave us the food through our next table and wanted us to get it by ourselves ! Good Chinese flowers tea! Not too much authentic Sichuan flavor , but suitable for local people that I can understand ! As a cooking teacher and food critic , I have something to say: MaPo Tofu not enough Brown pepper corn scent . Pork Belly with Garlic sauce is OK, but pork was not boiled enough time, skin is still hard , tough to chew ! The garlic's sauce even wrongly got thicken with Cornstarch paste ! Red Oil WonTon changed to dumplings, flavor ok ! Pickled Sour Mustard- Green with Fish slices and glass noodles is good . Steamed Rice is a bit dried , May be cooked at lunch time ! Not as fresh as I expected!
Wow, Wow, Wow. We stumbled upon China Sichuan not far from our hotel. We all kind of stopped thinking Chinese in the Netherlands, but it sounded so good for our last night in the city. We took our chances and walked through the front door. We felt like we had been transported to China. The atmosphere is lovely. We were greeted right away and seated right away and started exploring their amazing menu. The menu is large and filled with beautiful photos of each dish. There were four of us dining, and we ordered spicy spareribs, sweet and sour duck, kung pao tofu, and Peking duck. We started with spring rolls which were perfectly fried, not greasy, and scrumptious. The food was spicy but incredible. Honestly, this was the best Chinese food we have had in a very long time, and we live in Southern California with a vibrant Asian population. I truly wish China Sichuan was close to home, we would be regulars. You must go, you will not be disappointed.
This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a while... The waitress came right away, I said we needed a minute and she didn't come back for about 40 minutes when we called a bus boy over to try to order. The menu is really terribly laid out with only one item in each page so it took a while to go through but we got the eggplant thing and the lamb (both house recommendations). The lamb dish was okay, imagine cheap American Chinese food around the $8 variety in the states... Except now it's 20 euros! The eggplant was terrible (also 20 euros)! My friend got sick and refused to eat anything for the rest of the night. I went to pay and asked them to take the eggplant off and they argued with me for 20 minutes, saying I didn't day anything (to their invisible server) and that I ate most of it already (false). We ended up settling at half that dish, a concession I almost had to walk out for. I hate writing bad reviews. Maybe the kitchen had a bad night, but 40 euros for 2 waters, a bowl of rice and one dish of back alley Chinese food quality is was worth writing this review.

If you come here expect these 3 things... One: EXPECT IT TO BE BUSY & Therefore, EXPECT TO WAIT TO BE SEATED! If the food WASN'T great, it WOULDN'T be busy, right?! This is common sense... but common sense isn't always so common! If you are a "hangry" person, get a quick appetizer somewhere else before you come and be prepared to wait. It's worth it! Two: EXPECT TO COME FOR THE FOOD, not for the service! Again, this is a very fast-paced restaurant. Their menu is literally a BOOK. Dishes are coming in and out of the kitchen constantly. The servers are moving quickly in attempts to get the food out hot and fresh. They're NOT rude, they're QUICK! Take time to look over the menu CAREFULLY. There are a LOT of options. The servers do NOT rush you to place your order, though they do leave and come back abruptly because they're checking on other tables. This is why they're busy! Good food, cooked fresh and served fast! Three: EXPECT GREAT FOOD! I mean, really. I travel for a living and I'm already planning my return trip for this restaurant (among other things... but this pushed me over the top)! This is not, "American Chinese Food." It's Sichuan... AND IT'S GOOD!
Chinese food in Amsterdam isn't the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of where to eat. At least for me it wasn't but I saw this place and was intrigued. I ended up coming here and LOVED it. The options were endless here and all looked delicious and authentic. I had the duck and it was super delicious. It was perfectly crispy and I enjoyed the two choices of sauces they provided. The lady working was super nice and attentive and always had a smile. Over all I would love to come back here and try the other dishes!
Soooo good. Is it weird that my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam was a Sichuan place? The food was so good, the atmosphere was really nice as well. We got the spicy chili pepper chicken and ants climbing a tree noodles. I think we were really missing Asian food, because the food here really hit the spot. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, I would say it is comparable to Sichuan places you can find in the Bay Area, CA.
This place is always bustling doesn't matter which time of the day you come here. The place is very compact (of course the whole of Amsterdam is compact). We called for a dinner reservation but it was a come and serve basis. We reached 8 Pm and it was 15 minutes waiting. We were told by our friends, it's one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. We got a table. The ambiance was great and ceiling decoration was amazing. It's just the compactness of the restaurant that was making me uncomfortable. We ordered Spring Rolls, Sichuan Spicy Dumpling, Vegetable fried rice, and Barbecue mixed Vegetables, Sichuan special chili chicken and WATER too. In chili chicken- there was one ingredient (I guess Sichuan pepper), every time it was going in the mouth, the whole mouth gets numb for 10 seconds and ruining the taste of the dish. Sorry to burst your bubble folks, but it wasn't good. My dish was full of them. Pork dumpling was great and so was barbecue vegetables. Let me say it- service is very slow. Yeah, you guys are full but at least don't make us wait for the order and getting the food. Even we thought of order something else but knowing it 'll take them forever to come and take the order and then waiting for food, we ditched the idea. And what's with water thing. Why should I pay for the water? Coming from the USA, we are not used to paying for the water. And that is 7 euro per bottle. Not cool. Glad they did not charge me for using the restroom.

In all honesty, the food was good and they got to our table quickly. The only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 was because it was uncomfortably hot in the dining room. We thought about leaving before placing our order but decided to bear it out since we were craving Sichuan. The chicken and the green beans were my favorites. It was really nice being able to taste the Sichuan peppers on the dishes. All together, great food but uncomfortable dining experience. read more
We ended up having a meal here tonight- had a Thai place in mind but they weren't open so tried to find something similar. Their menu is impressively large and the dining room is small but inviting. Prices are quite high, but you are in a tourist area. We ordered a Kung pao chicken and a chicken fried rice to share. We both had a very weird 'chemical' taste that would occasionally occur with the Kung pao but neither of us could figure out what it was. The chicken fried rice was fine but contained very little chicken. My house white wine at 4.5 was fine as well as hubby had a Heineken. The biggest issue was the many Gnats that just descended on us once our wine arrived. If you zoom in on the picture, there were quite a few just hanging out after our plate we removed. We have been to many restaurants since we arrived here and this is the first with this issue. It got even worse once our food arrived. Very irritating. Service was just ok. We were here at a weird time because we are very jet lagged and trying to get on the time zone (needed dinner early). The staff were having their dinner so we felt a bit of a nuisance. If you're in the mood for real Sichuan food in Amsterdam, this place is a great choice. The flavors are bold, well-balanced, and authentically spicy without being overwhelming. The portion sizes are generous, so you definitely leave satisfied. Service is friendly and attentive, and everything came out at the right pace. There's nothing to complain about--just a solid, reliable Sichuan restaurant that does exactly what you want it to. read more

Great Chinese restaurant offering spicy Szechuan cuisine in Amsterdam. All the dishes we ordered packed a nice firey punch in terms of spice in an absolutely delicious way. The fish and chicken dishes we ordered were especially delicious and tasted amazing with the sides of white rice. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to try some spicy dishes. read more

I went with my friend Jerry. He found this place and picked it. He was so jazzed up about it because he knew it would be fantastic. Jerry is from Sichuan, China and knows his way around a menu. The waitresses exchanged with Jerry And after some time in the an asSortment of amazing dishes came out. I was the only one not from China so no one told me what we were eating. I would ask and they would just say "EAT!" And so I ate. A lot. And then some more. But what I do know is that it was beef and cabbage soaked in Chile as well as some dumplings and a few other random slightly identifiable dishes that blew my mind. So why write a review if you don't know what you ate or how to describe anything? Well because it was delicious. And you should eat here. read more

I was looking for a good Sichuan restaurant in Amsterdam for 3 weeks. I didn't find any Sichuan restaurant until the day before I left. I love this one restaurant. The waitress and chef are all from Sichuan. I heard they were talking in Sichuanese. The food is really authentic. I ordered sichuan spicy fish. The fish is really fresh. Glad to eat seafood next to ocean. My coworkers said it's the most spicy food they had in their life. All other Chinese in Amsterdam are Cantonese restaurants. At least they all have really good seafood. read more
Not entirely sure why this place has low yelp reviews. My friends and I were craving some asian food after a week in Amsterdam and decided to have dinner at China Sichuan. This place is legit! It serves authentic and delicious Chinese food. We were a party of four and we ordered cold noodles, Sichuan dumplings, sizzling lamb, the palace eggplant, and of course a side or rice. I kid you not, all the dishes were on point. The cold noodles wasn't too spicy and was quite refreshing. The Sichuan dumplings weren't soggy and tasted great with the chili oil. The sizzling lamb was so flavorful and tender at the same time. I am not fond of vegetables but the palace eggplant was just plain good! We completely destroyed all the dishes even the rice. I know some people have this mindset that Sichuan dishes are mind numbingly spicy and the spiciness completely overpowers the taste of all the dishes. But dishes we ordered at China Sichuan have their own unique tastes that are only enhanced by the chili/hot oil. Service is what you'd expect at any Chinese place, not all that great. Lucky for us, one of our party is a local from China so he ended up ordering for us and chatting up the servers. Really recommend this place for those in the De Wallen area. read more

You can't miss this place if you're walking around the red light district. They have a Chinatown right next to it and it's located there. This place is BUSY! But with all Chinese restaurants, the food comes up FAST! We ordered chicken and egg soup which was ok. We also ordered their fried duck which we really enjoyed! And we ordered some dumplings which were great as well. They're open pretty late so it was a good spot to eat at late at night. I typically shy away from Asian foods when traveling to Europe but a girl's gotta eat when craving hits and this place satisfied my soul (LOL). read more

Ordered Chicken Nodes (10€) and Hot & Sour Soup (5€). The resturant is clean and busy at nights, nice stereo typical chinise decor. Hot & Sour contained bamboo shoots carrots and ginger was missing chicken and for some reason had peas that had been frozen before over all ediable but "meh" in flavour. -not authentic Sichuan food (says My Chinese friend): 1. Not spicy enough 2. The fish we ordered was totally a different dish from the one we though it would be/should have been (also very different from what was displayed from the menu picture) 3. Small portion large plates I think it's for more delicate palates side it wasn't spicy enough for us. read more
Amazing! Came here on a Sunday evening and had a delicious meal of spicy glass noodle soup, cucumber salad, spicy dumplings, beef and preserved vegetable soup. Even the rice was steaming fresh. The service was very fast and courteous...was not expecting this due to previous yelp reviews. A pleasant surprise. I will definitely come back. read more
This place has good potential! Let's just first start off by saying how beautiful this place is decorated inside. It was so vibrant in colors and decor that it really enhanced the dining experience. As it goes for food, I ordered the spicy dumplings and sesame chicken. The spicy dumplings were great and tasted super fresh. My sesame chicken on the other hand never made it to the table. I started realizing that it was not going to come after all of my friends finish their entrees and I still hadn't gotten mine yet. When I asked I was told it was coming out shortly but then the server came back a second time around and told me the kitchen staff forgot. So at that point I told them not to worry about it since I didn't want to hold up everyone at the table and make them wait for me to eat. The server did apologize and I honestly was not even upset I was just bummed that I didn't get to try the chicken since everyone else's food tasted amazing. I would return to this restaurant and give it another try. read more

I was introduce to this restaurant by my "Asian connection" in Amsterdam. This little gem is hidden amongst one of the most touristy and in my opinion, least desirable places in Amsterdam. That being said Sichuan offers great traditional Chinese, from the sichuan region, food. This regions cuisine is characterised by the use of hot spices almost in every dish. The Sichuan dumplings, the Mongolian beef and the Chinese broccoli are among a my favourite dishes. If Ij doubt, ask the staff as they are very helpful and always willing to help. I have been going to this place pretty much since I moved to Amsterdam and the only floss I have noticed is that as it has become more popular the prices have gone up. read more
