Light, fluffy, with a slightly fried taste like biting into a little sugar cloud that tastes like heaven! I've been on the search for something comparable ever since! Miss donuts is it! I happened to come across this donut shop while in the area for accupunture, and just keep coming back for more! The shop is never empty and I'm sure it's super busy in the mornings. I usually get there late morning and upon my initial visits they always ran out of what I want... Which are the basics... ham and cheese croissant, sugar donut and the chocolate bar. Super sad, the owner told me to just call it in early morning and she would hold it for me until I was in the area. I've been doing that and I am to get exactly what I want saved for me each time! I picked up a Chocolate and Sugar Glazed Butter Milk Bars and a Old Fashion with a maple frosting. They all tasted great, but what I liked the best is that they all had that crusty crust from the frying and soft center. Another words, they all had nice texture. Miss Donut is a family run neighborhood business that I have frequented the last few months. It's close to work so occasionally I will bring in a dozen donuts for my coworkers and I. Giving a sugar rush in the AM is my gift. They serve all the classics- Bavarian cream, old fashioned glaze, chocolate sprinkles, Boston cream, jelly filled. Yup, they got it covered. Fresh donuts daily and piping hot coffee is what the doctor ordered. With friendly service, there a line usually out the door but I wouldn't fear. The line moves pretty fast. You will be in and out in no time. My personal favorite isn't a donut though. It's a ham, cheese and jalapeño. Wrapped inside a giant croissant is tasty ham, gooey cheese and chopped jalapeño for the perfect kick. Definitely have them warm it. It is a flaky mess. So if you can. It's best to wait until you get to the office or your home before eating it. If not, you will get croissant flakes all over the inside of your car. This is from experience, lol. So if your in the Casa De Oro area in the AM. Skip the corporate chains and help a local family owned business. Fresh donuts and coffee in a clean establishment. Friendly faces and great service. I stopped by here to grab a cinnamon roll donut. The donut was light and fluffy, definitely fresh and nice to bite into. I was, however, just surprised at the small selection presented, considering how big the store front is. There was only a few trays of donuts with the basics. The rest of the store had stock and boxes on the other side, seemed like a lot of unutilized and cluttered space. But for a basic donut they do a really great job. read more

Highly disappointed... Came in to get a dozen donuts for the office. 7.95 for the box, pretty average. The selection was so sad. There were only two trays to pick from- when we asked the owner for glaze he said there were no more. Ummm, it's 9am- what gives. There was pretty much nothing to pick from. It seems like they just put out what was not sold the day before. I don't think they make a new batch until they sell what they have. Unless you get lucky- you will be picking from left overs. Locally the chain has mostly vanished from its heyday of 25 years ago, leaving only a few remnants under that name, but from their wreckage several now-independent donut houses sport a refurbished triangle sign and a suspiciously familiar menu. So it is at Miss Donuts, which has two locations in the county. After a recent breakfast nearby, I took a walk around the area and my whims decided a donut would hit the breakfast-dessert spot. They had all the donuts I recalled from my wayward youth: sprinkled cake, glazed cinnamon rolls, enormous fritters. I zeroed in on an old favorite: the airy maple cruller, which was as insubstantial a chunk of calories as I remembered, yet it sadly failed to trigger an epic reverie to my childhood. Still, as a single cruller can be had for pocket change, even the lacking nostalgic experience seemed worth the while. Came here early on a Sunday morning to pick up a couple dozen donuts for everyone at work. I was seriously disappointed. Like I said I was there pretty early and pretty much all of there selection was already gone? For a place that specializes in only making donuts which are typically consumed in the AM hours you would think they would be making more through out the morning to make a profit. But not here. It seems they make one batch in the morning and after it's gone, it's gone.
