Great little neighborhood donut shop! Convenient corner location, plenty of indoor seating (overlooking a nice little succulent garden), and of course a great maplebar! Love this little donut shop! I'm surprised I haven't already left a review here. I've been coming here for a few years now and the donuts are always fresh and delicious. The apple fritters are my favorite but they are so large I have to split it into two. A dozen for us (we get some specialties) runs us about $21. Pretty standard for donuts these days. They have the canned Thai teas for cheaper than the grocery stores. It's my go to place for them now. They are on Too Good To Go which is an amazing way to save waste and get some donuts at the end of the day for cheap. While I love getting my favorites, the "left over donuts" are still a great option - they throw in plenty of good ones. read more

Been coming here for years and they never disappoint! I love this little mom and pop shop. The donuts are airy and soft, like biting into clouds. Especially their donut holes. I used to eat a whole box to myself. The stuffed croissants are so delicious too, ham, cheese and jalapeño is my favorite. And no other donut shop beats their old fashion's. We, Nick Van Wrinkled and I, were walking my nephew's dog, Baby, this morning when we happened to come upon this little donut shop. NVW went in while Baby and I patiently waited outside. I don't know whose olfactory organs worked harder. We were both overwhelmed by the sweet scent of donuts, muffins, pastries and coffee. My friend came out w 2 coffees and a bran muffin (better for his digestion). Brandon served us both times and there couldn't be a nicer person in this family-owned business. He couldn't have been any more accommodating than he was, explaining the various selections and flavors, and their pricing. The donuts in the left-hand case are mainly traditional donuts beside glazed donut holes [6/$1 or 12/$2], this case is priced lower than the right-hand case, which contains your special donuts such as filled, bear claws, cinnamon rolls and many others. I have eaten the glazed donut holes and they are freshly made, sugar-glazed, and tender 2-bite morsels. The cinnamon roll I ate was huge, but I managed to eat all of it in a single sitting! I just couldn't stop!! The cinnamon rolls are dotted inside with a substantial portion of cinnamon/sugar, and then sugar glazed over the top. So so delicious! The butter bar was great and hit all the notes I liked, except for the inside being a little more cake like than I would of liked. This review is based on buying K-T Donuts at 5 PM. First of all, it's great there hours stretch into the evening. I ordered three donut staples. The owner seemed very nice and threw in a dozen donut holes for free. The donuts were good, but one wasn't the freshest. Granted I did come later in the day. Best small business donuts in San Diego hands down! Service is fast & friendly. This place has been open since I was kid and the quality has never gone down -- in fact, I could almost believe it's gotten better. Not many donut shops are open late so that's a huge plus if you've got a sweet tooth. Came in after 5PM the other day and all donuts purchased were still soft and tasted fresh.
