I wasn't buying into the hype about this place because, honestly, the hype around places is usually exaggerated. That all changed when my wife brought me here and we left with two dozen donuts! These donuts are unbelievably good! The texture is soft, fresh, and perfectly light. The flavors aren't overly sweet, and they have just the right amount of glaze or whatever topping you choose. Everything was just right. The staff was also incredibly friendly and welcoming. They greeted us with big smiles and great customer service, which definitely makes you want to come back and buy another box. Great place, great donuts, and great service. I was asked to bring in special donuts for my workplace. I knew this place had donuts and really good cream puffs, or so I thought. I had asked one of the ladies for a dozen random donuts. She crammed almost all the same kind into a tiny box so all the donuts were squished. The cream puffs were so overfilled no one could eat them and no one did. What should have had a tablespoon of jelly had about 4 tablespoons, quite possibly more, no exaggeration. Way more than a mouthful. They were terrible. I was so disappointed. Came in to check out Mary's Donuts great donuts, fresh and a lot of options. Grabbed some coffee and went over to Lindo Lake County Park to chill, nice little spot with water, birds, and a good vibe. I'll come back when I'm in the area. They also sell sandwiches and have muffins too. Honestly, the size of these muffins is crazy big like way bigger than I expected. I tried the blueberry cream cheese one and yeah it was really good. I love a good pumpkin anything and Mary's Donuts has the niche in making a very good pumpkin muffin. The muffin was very flavorful and soft and moist. It was a little gummy towards the center, as if it needed a little more time in the oven, but it was still great. The lady at the counter was nice enough. Mary's is my go to for a classic blueberry glazed donut. It always hits home. Their classic donuts are always consistent and good. We tried the pistachio today donut today and it was a miss. I'm not sure what spice they used in it, but it was overwhelming. The service is always friendly and fast even when they are busy which is appreciated. Went in last night for a half dozen. The lady working behind the counter was rude. I said Hi she didn't say anything. I was walking back and forth deciding which ones I wanted since she didn't have the one I really wanted. She straight told me very rudely to decide if I wanted anything from one side before I make her move over to the other side. Because she didn't feel like walking back and forth for me the customer. I just looked at her and basically thought to myself yeah I'm done with her service. Turned around and left. Not the first time, but the first time making a complaint. It's Mary's Doughnuts. They are open all the time. They always have a large variety of doughnuts, sandwiches, and coffee. Employees are friendly enough, service is fast, weekend mornings are busy, naturally, but they keep the doughnuts coming out fast. There is a cheesecake doughnut that is insanely delicious. They are usually out of them, but if you're lucky, there might be one in the refrigerated section left. SO good! Prices are on par with other doughnut shops. Again, always open! Literally 24 hours. I've only been to Mary's a few times for donuts. So today I came it for a sandwich and an apple fritter. Maybe it's just because I'm not a regular but all of the workers always act standoffish. Never a greeting when I've walked in. I take my time to look at the sandwich menu and the lady at the sandwich register leaves. So I scoot down, looking at the donuts they have. The donut cashier stands there until I ask about a certain donut in the case. She answers and I order the donuts. I ask, "Do I need to order my sandwich at the other register?" She says yes, but rings it up anyways. I get the California sandwich and two donuts $25.89 with tip. Asked for Jalapeño bread for my sandwich, didn't receive that, no biggie, I can live with that. Sandwich was a little bland. Plain turkey, provolone, mashed avocado, sprouts, tomato. I will have to add a little garlic salt and pepper to the other half. Now, I have been to Mary's before for the Apple fritter and it's been okay. But today, 12/4, my fritter tasted burnt. Not like a little crispy burnt, like burnt to the point that it's the only thing I can taste. Either burnt or they are using really old oil? It's hard to say. Maybe it was a rough morning for production but to burn, then also put out product for sale is never cool. I'd be more understanding if they said they didn't have fritters because they burnt them. We went there today for a breakfast sandwich but ended up with a Hot Patrami and a Bacon, Turkey and Avocado and of course the cream filled donuts. We get home and open the box, this pastrami and provolone has huge. See the pics. This sandwich was delicious. Mary's you are back in rotation!!!! I also saw they have açaí bowls which I'll definitely get next time. As always everyone was so friendly. Big outdoor patio and plenty of parking in the back lot. Mary's is an East County institution and they're always reliable. I mostly stop in for donuts to bring to the family on the weekends and they tend to sell out of the fan favorites quickly, but the donuts are good and the service is quick. I've heard the sandwiches are delicious and giant. Our construction company has been doing a huge job right up The street from here so we have ordered donuts dozens of times and they are great but holy smokes I had no idea they had sandwiches. I consider myself a Reuben sandwich connoisseur and this was the Absolute BEST Reuben I've ever had and don't even get me started on the "DIRTY" potato chips. Seriously fantastic.
