The donuts are amazing! The sandwiches are good. Extremely large but tasty. Today we ordered a Heap sandwich and a Cattle Drive sandwich. If I get the Cattle Drive again I will ask them to leave the garlic aioli off as it was a bit too much for my taste. This time the service was great. Stopped by this morning, picked up a dozen sprinkled donut holes, which were obviously delicious. I also got The Veggie sandwich, $13.99, this was so gross. The onion bread is thick, and chewy. The spread made the bread soggy before I could even get home. Mostly that bread was horrible, I ended up throwing it away. Wasted $14. Wish I could go back in time! read more

This is the third time I've been in to purchase donuts, there will not be a fourth. We are so disappointed, the school near by frequently purchased from here and even they have stopped purchasing. Donuts are so dry and the icing is literally cracked because it is so hard. The shop itself is extremely hot which may be a contributing factor to the problem. read more

I find it hard to believe that I have never reviewed this place (I probably reviewed their other location though). I come out to the Lakeside area to visit family once or twice a year. For years, and has been a tradition to always visit Mary's when I do. There's a very good reason for that. For one, they have some of the best tasting donuts out there. Down to earth, great employees, and you're always in and out pretty quickly. They're super twist donuts, bear claws, and fritters are all so very fantastic. As well as the rest of their donuts. But those are my favorite outside maybe the custard filled. This however, was the first time I got a sandwich. I chose a breakfast sandwich, since it is breakfast time after all. Croissant, egg, ham, provolone cheese, spinach, tomato, and chipotle mayo (toasted to melt it). The sandwich is an experience for sure . So incredibly delicious. So not only are they the king of donuts in these parts, they are absolutely on my top three favorite donut places anywhere. On top of it off, they have great sandwiches to go with it. I can't wait to come back and try there lunch menu options. So if you're in the area, make sure to do everything you can to at least stop by once to try it out. First of all, this is my spot every Friday I get the same thing. I have never been an East county girl till this past year and once I found this place, I felt like I was home. I had them make a birthday donut cake for my friend for his birthday I also wanted to make sure that we celebrated pride . First time checking out this Mary's location. I went with my mother around lunch time to try out their sandwiches since my mother said that they were pretty good. As soon as we walked in, I could smell the sugary sweetness of all the donuts... so good! I almost derailed my plan. It's a spacious waiting area and clean. Cute decor for the location. The girl at the counter was friendly and welcoming. We needed a few minutes to decide on what we wanted, and the girl offered us a paper menu (not pictured) with more options for sandwiches and salads. My mom had decided to order a sandwich, but as a salad. I ordered a Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich. Both came with the option of chips, mac salad or potato salad. Both the sandwich and salad with one side each came to $36 and some change. Seemed a little pricey. The menu posted above the counter has some prices, but none of the other menus (including the paper menu that we ordered off of) list any prices on anything. No additional mods so a little thrown by the price. After all was said and done, the amount of meat in both the salad and sandwich was more than sufficient. All the ingredients were fresh and both items were fully loaded. It made the cost of the bill more understandable. I was only able to eat half of my sandwich but it was delicious. The avocado was super fresh and the bacon was perfectly crispy (tons of bacon on the sandwich too). My mom split her salad in half and shared it with my aunt. My mom was full off of her half of the salad. It had this delicious but spicy bacon in it. Definitely spicier than expected... the kick of spice kinda bites at the end. The side of mac salad was pretty small (4oz cup?), but your standard tasty mac salad. Overall was a good visit and I was impressed with the amount of ingredients and freshness of them. I look forward to trying one of their other specialty sandwiches with one of their spreads. Maybe a donut to take for dessert too! read more

Love coming to Mary's Donuts! Small shop with BIG flavor! Even though it's a bit of a drive for us to come here it's worth it. The donuts are always fresh and so doughy. They have some creative donuts like the bear claw filled with peanut butter and jelly, or a huge size cinnamon twist. I have a huge sweet tooth so I always get the buttercream filled. My wife and I were just in there to get a dozen donuts and some soda and the lady behind the bar was totally rude for no reason we were polite we were nice we were in a great mood but she was just rude as hell, as well as a smartass!!! I guess beware going in there late at night. On a side note the doughnuts didn't taste that great either a long with being out of a lot of flavors. Oh dang! We live in the Serra Mesa area and had to take our son to a birthday party out there. Just so happened to see this place and decided to give it a try. My wife and I ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich, and two donuts. All were fantastic! First off, the sandwich was huge. Plenty of food for my wife and I to split. It was delicious. We also ordered a pb&j bear claw and custard filled donut. Both above average as far as doughnuts are concerned. Very friendly staff behind the counter that tolerated how green we were as far as ordering food in there is concerned. I've been wanting to go here for a while now. Finally for the first time was able to make the trek. The one lady in line next to me said "I'm sorry to be rude but the buttermilk doughnuts are the best and I'm came from Phoenix for these." Open disclosure my coworkers wife works here and he talks about how it's the best in San Diego. Who doesn't want to try the best? Apparently there are a few Mary's but the quality at this location in Lakeside is the best. They are open 24hrs. I might have gone overboard by buying a dozen doughnuts, a dozen doughnut holes and 2 sandwiches the Cali and Heep. The appetizer doughnut holes were pretty fresh. The maple bar with bacon was delicious and I could only eat a half of fresh sandwich. The area inside is not large and only an area for the line to go down and back. They have plenty of parking in the back and tables to eat the doughnuts and sandwiches. I wish they were down the street. read more

So unfortunate but the older ladies especially the Mexican lady with glasses are some of the rudest people. Like just mean and unhappy. The younger girls are super nice. I felt compelled to make this post so that hopefully a manager or owner sees it and behavior can change. It's also a bit dirty. Usually it's very clean. We never got a hello and the lady acted like she was doing us a favor. It was a special day for my son so we stopped to get him donuts. Just very weird and rude behavior.
