Fantastic! Service and food stellar. My daughter gobbled up the mac & cheese. Pork was zesty! Keep up the good work!

The barbecue smells good getting out of the car I enjoyed my barbecue sandwich. It was a little light on barbecue. I enjoy the sauce choices But, not a fan of the Styrofoam cups not a fan of pre-cooked french fries and pre-cooked hush puppies taken out of a warmer cheesy for a restaurant very cheesy. read more

Mint Hill Rock Store BBQ - Looking forward to giving rock store, barbecue, mint Hill another try - Barbeque Near Me - Mint Hill, North Carolina

I can say that the actual pork was pretty decent overall. However, everything else was not great. We got there about 5:30pm and it' wasn't busy, but hot as heck. I asked if the a/c was broken and was told, no. It just gets. hot from the smokers. I immediately thought, "who smokes indoors"?. There were numerous flies throughout the eating area, but my wife insisted on eating there. The sides, we lack luster to be nice. Overall, I would not likely go back. read more

Literally the best BBQ I've ever had. We've gotten it multiple times since moving here recently, and it is always so delicious, so fresh, and so affordable. It is definitely one of our go-to take out meals. 10/10 recommend! read more

Very annoyed. Spent over $50 on take out and we were going somewhere where we would not have plates. Asked for a few and was told "sorry, you don't get them With take out" we were headed to the pool. Note to self and any one else that might need anything extra like a plate, fork or napkins..."NOT INCLUDED In TAKE OUT!" read more

When you come from the north, you do crave for some good ol' southern comfort food. My relatives and I needed a place nearby to grab some authentic, luscious, and saucy southern eats and we went with this recommendation. The hush puppies were addictive and we had to stop to make room for the other goodies we bought. They ran out of chicken this day but beef brisket was shredded nicely, the baby back ribs drenched in a zingy delicious bbq sauce, and bbq baked beans texture was great and the potato salad was buttery plump perfection. Our host was so nice and graciously took good care of us with our order. Gave us good recommendations on what to order when some items weren't available. Will come back here whenever we have a hankering for ribs and southern comfort sides while visiting from out of town. read more

Food is very dry and tasteless. The service is lousy. Mint Hill needs a good BBQ place. This is not it

I ordered brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese and baked beans. Everything was flavorless. The brisket tasted like nothing and it was dry. The Mac and cheese was disgusting. The baked beans taste thy just popped open a can and warmed it up. A waste of my money. The only thing that was good was the soda. read more

I order using Instacart and get the pulled pork and ribs. Very good and always correct order delivered. 10 orders out of 10

Terrible. Mac and cheese tastes like it was made with water and canned cheese sauce, pulled chicken was watery and not seasoned, beans seemed to be straight from a can. It's a shame because we were really craving BBQ but wish i read the reviews first. I hate leaving bad reviews because i want businesses to succeed ! But someone needs to let this place know that people want a good Mac and cheese and going for BBQ is about the sides . How are they able to serve this ? read more

The best barbecue you can find in the Charlotte area. A treat to anyone traveling through or a local for that weekly comfort that we call home. As a North Carolina native I'm proud to chow down at this spot every time I can. I'm even OK with them having Mustard barbecue sauce as one of their choices to represent South Carolina as well but they also have a proper North Carolina mop sauce, eastern style and a few other nice tomato sauces on the table to mix and match. The hush puppies are to die for and the Brunswick stew is smoky goulash style. Not to mention, Charlotte raised and family owned. read more

This is a local fave for our family! We ordered a bunch of food to go due to COVID-19. Two racks of ribs, brisket, green beans, hushpuppies, Mac and cheese, slaw, bbq sandwich, and banana pudding. The ribs were so tender and pretty much fell off the bone. The brisket was delightful and we love the sweet sauce! The hushpuppies were crispy on the outside and very yummy. As an added bonus the staff is great! We also have used Rockstore for catering and they did a phenomenal job. read more

Great food and service. Always clean and fast service. Don't miss out on the cornbread!!

I have been very happy thus far with mint hill rock store barbecue. Note, this isn't premium Memphis, Texas, or St Louis hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint, so I'm grading them on their class, which is fast food, comfort food, and quick eats. They are good for convenience, pulled pork sandwiches, and basic items if you add sauce. Their beans are terrible and the cornbread so dry and bad I didn't order it again. I found them via Uber eats with their monthly American Express offer. I prefer to pick up my own food rather than have it delivered and mint hill, rock Hill store barbecue is one of the few restaurants that allows pick up under Uber eats unlike other restaurants where you have to have it delivered. Bonus points for being customer friendly and fast. I ordered the family pack with pulled pork and buns or 8 hush puppies. I added a Brunswick stew and banana pudding. Their pulled pork is quite delicious and I always ask for extra Carolina gold and their tangy vinegar sauce. I've ordered from them six times now and one thing I find is the banana pudding - which could be a game changer is sorely lacking. It's inconsistent and sometimes just the plain custard and air with no cookies or banana, other times, just whip cream and custard, and rarely have I received a nice layer of softened, vanilla wafers, custard, whipped cream, and cookies. Your banana pudding has so much potential since I notice fresh ingredients, but it's not made or portioned with consistency. Everything else is pretty good. I'm happy to have a reliable BBQ joint with fast service within a 3-5 min drive. 4/5 stars if I can get a meal with both well-made banana pudding and hot fresh hush puppies. read more

Mint Hill Rock Store BBQ - No banana in barely filled cup. - Barbeque Near Me - Mint Hill, North Carolina

Solid local BBQ joint and on the cheaper end (BBQ is expensive these days!). Don't let the expensive rent location fool you. Their pork is great and not too chopped, so you get some chunks that are just full of umami (flavor)! Baked beans - just a little too sweet for my tastes. Red slaw - as the Carolinas intended. Sauce - I went vinegar based and it was just what the food called for. I originally went for the brisket, but prices have gone up for beef, and in Mint Hill, people won't pay 25$ a lb, so they aren't selling any at the moment. Bummer. I'd pay for this guy to smoke some brisket, if it is even close to same flavor zip code as the pork BBQ. Totally worth it if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Ordered via Postmates. BBQ was clean but was dry. I usually like to eat my BBQ without sauce but this was too dry to do that .... Was good with the mustard sauce. I'm a fan of the mustard sauce, cole slaw and hush puppies. Not to crazy about the breading on the potato wedges. (I'm going to try the Mac and cheese next time) Banana pudding should be called vanilla pudding. There was a vanilla wafer on top and I detected 1 banana bite about 1/2 the size of a dime....pudding tastes like vanilla pudding with too much whip cream in it....would not order this again. All in all ... decent meal and I would order most items again. read more

Love their bbq &green beans. The banana pudding is usually great but this time it was soupy & didn't congeal. I think the bbq is the best in this area! Usually go to their Stallings store (which is made of rock) but both are always good. Catering is really good also! read more

Should've read more reviews before trying this place out, but we live nearby and wanted to give it a try. We got the family BBQ Pork pack to go: 1.5lbs of Pulled Pork, 3 large sides (mac n cheese, green beans, and beans), and buns. The only thing that was good was the containers the food came in. We literally went home and re-seasoned all of the food on the stove. The pork was not seasoned but was the best thing out of what we ordered. EasyMac was better than their Mac n cheese, the green beans were tasteless, and the beans tasted like they poured them straight out of the can. Even the buns were stale. They could've at least taken them out of the package they came in instead of handing us the bag from the store. Could've went to Harris Teeter next door and got my own buns. I'd rather drive to Smoke Pit or City BBQ. If you decide to order food from this place, make sure to stop pass my house so I can make the food better for you. read more

If you are in Mint Hill and crave bbq this place will do. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the food is average...... except the ribs. Avoid the ribs! Completely void of taste and overcooked. Boiled, lack of smoke ring and bark proves that. I would be embarrassed to offer these on my menu. read more

Mint Hill Rock Store BBQ - How appetizing are those? Not very!!! - Barbeque Near Me - Mint Hill, North Carolina

Unfortunately this is the worst example of bbq I've ever had I asked the staff what do they recommend they both replied "the brisket is really like that today" I for some reason had some faith in these folks to lead me in the right direction but I was dead wrong the brisket wasn't sliced like it is traditionally instead it was presented to me in a mound of half pulled beef style something Idek what to call it with next to no flavor there was some but very little the mac n cheese tastes like it's straight out of the stoufers box the banana pudding tastes like it's diet idk if that's a thing but overall I cannot in good faith recommend this place to a bbq enthusiast maybe your 65 year old nana but not a bbq enthusiast read more

I called to get lunch catered at the last minute for a business meeting of 15 people. The owner was so courteous and was more than happy to accommodate. The lunch meeting was a big success thanks to the bbq! Everyone said the food was fabulous and plentiful! I will definitely contact them again for my catering requests and will also dine at the restaurant with my family. I had grabbed a barbecue sandwich to go once when I was in the area after they initially opened, and it was delicious! read more

The only thing I got that was palatable were the hush puppies which had a crunchy outside but the inside was still doughy. The mac and cheese was horrifically bland as well as the baked beans which seemed to have come out of a can. The cornbread had no flavor. I have never had bbq so bad in my life. How do you mess up sides?? The staff was nice and the sweet tea was decent, that's the only reason for one star. read more

Mint Hill Rock Store BBQ - beans, mac n cheeese, corn bread - Barbeque Near Me - Mint Hill, North Carolina

Went here for lunch to meet a friend during December. It was so hot inside that we had to sit outside on the patio. (That was basically closed for the winter) other than the extreme heat inside the restaurant, the food was great! I had a pulled pork BBQ sandwich with the spicy vinegar based sauce, side of macaroni and cheese, and hush puppies. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it has four or so kinds of cheeses and was so cheesy I almost couldn't eat it. Who knew something could have too much cheese? I almost bought some of their spicy vinegar based sauce to take home with me it was so good. The place was empty when I arrived at noon and full when I left around one o'clock. The staff was very friendly. I would love to eat here again but I was so turned off by the extreme heat inside. I had read complaints of the temperature of the restaurant in other reviews and thought it can't be that bad. It was that bad. If I didn't live so far away, I would go there to pick up a to go order but it's 45 minutes away from me. It's not the best pulled pork BBQ sandwich I've had but it was good! It was also a great price. It's inside the harris teeter shopping center right next to the grocery store. read more

The people were nice but the bread on their pork sandwich was stale and the pork had zero seasoning. I am disappointed because we love BBQ and would have loved to have a go to spot in the neighborhood. I hope they read the reviews and switch some things up to help elevate this place. read more

Got the brisket sandwich, smoked chicken sandwich, and mac n cheese. First the mac n cheese. It was okay, but there was no baked cheddar anywhere in it....no variation in texture or pockets of melted cheese...just noodles and orange cheese binder goo. How is it Chick Fil A has way better mac n cheese and its a nationwide drive thru chain? Next, the chicken. It had okay smoked taste but was dry and unsalty....basically chunks of dry chicken on a bun. I get that I can add the slaw of choice or sauce...but still. It reminded me of that one aunt who made the most bland Thanksiving turkey you've ever had...like...no marinade...no flavor injection...no seasoning...just a pastey white meat laborious chew where you have to take a gulp of water halfway through chewing to finish and swallow the bite. And last buuuuut not least...the brisket sandwich. This was not "brisket" as most people who've seen shows on cable tv spotlighting destination restaurants or BBQ competitions would think, it was dry, hard, bland and stringy pulled pot roast...but with smoke flavor. Being pulled (vs cut against the grain) the meat fibers were even harder to eat when dry and hard, it was literally like chewing warm unsalted beef jerky and got stuck in my molars like beef jerky. If you're not going to offer slabs of sliced (against the grain) juicy beef brisket on a bun....at least drop the word "brisket" from the name because its misleading. The cut of meat may have technically started as a "brisket" but it ended up being stringy overdone chuck roast on a bun. I cannot explain how unsettling it is to bite through a very soft bun and instantly locate the hard chunks with my tongue....almost like I could feel the hard shaped meat chunks right away and had to instantly move it as far back and to the side in my mouth to have any chance of breaking down the meat. I should have quietly spit it in a napkin but I had spent $15.xx plus tip so I didn't want to waste it. Anyhow...the employees were very nice...no complaints there. I've never had issues at the Waxhaw Rock Store location...not sure what happened here in Mint Hill. I love supporting local businesses....and I've had great food at Rock Store before.....please do better. read more

This is a great locally owned spot for a quick bite of bbq. Great food, service, and price to go along with it.

During the big snow storm me and my so decided we would try their bbq. The two young ladies greeted us and made our dinners all while chatting with my son. I decided on the Brisket and a side of ribs. While not to the size and standards of the bbq I had the week before in Fort Worth Texas the food was delicious, portions could be larger but that is my theory on all bbq places. All in all a very good meal at a decent price. The store was clean throughout from what I could see. We will definitely be back. read more

I tried this place for the first time today. I ordered the brisket plate with mac and cheese and potato wedges. My wife ordered the bbq plate with white slaw and mac and cheese. The brisket was very tender... however, the flavor was severely lacking. They have several different bbq sauces to add to your meal but you shouldn't depend on sauce to flavor your meat. The mac and cheese tasted a bit bland but the potato wedges were good. My wife liked the pork bbq but absolutely hated the mac and cheese and white slaw. Although the staff was nice, I don't think I'll visit again. read more

Went there for second time today...it was AWESOME. Hushpuppies are, no kidding, the best I've had up here. Brunswick Stew was great as before..glad I went with a larger potion. Will def be back with family in tow. Service quick and friendly. ! Ordered through app. Ready really quickly. Got an order of hushpuppies and stew. The hushpuppies were awesome (the big round kind I like, not the long finger-looking kind.) Also ordered the Brunswick stew. It was very good and hearty, however, it was sweeter than I'm used to, but it was still great. I would definitely get it again. The only issue was the order was to-go and although I'm grateful it was ready quickly, the girl at the register kind of shoed me out of there (guess she was busy) but she forgot to put any napkins, butter or a spoon for for stew. Its my fault I didn't ask for butter for the puppies, but its kind of common sense to give napkins with any order and a spoon with an order of stew. Ended up having to drink my stew like a soda. Just make sure you ask for napkins and utensils (if they ever give you a second look.) read more

Class? Show of hands for those who think a Yankee should not have the first review of a BBQ joint? Thanks for your input. I tried the BBQ plate of pulled chicken. Comes with a hefty portion of pulled chicken and white bread bun (they can keep the bun) along with two sides. I got the mac n cheese YUM and the green beans and stewed tomatoes(they can keep them too). The chicken was great with some Carolina gold sauce. Also tried a full rack of BBQ ribs. These are stellar. Big, thick, meaty, fall off the bone, baby back ribs, nicely coated in BBQ sauce. I also got a side of BBQ baked beans.Delicious. 4 star ribs! Here's where the stars start to fall from the sky. I tried a "by the bulk" order of pulled pork. (we're talking 1LB) I was disappointed that it was dry. By dry, I mean no sauce. Yeah, they gave me a few (three) little cups of sauce but each was a different flavor? So I ended up with 1LB. of pork and about three tablespoons of sauce. Each container approx. a tablespoon in three different flavors? This BBQ thing is confusing the sh*t atta this Yankee. I do see on their menu that you can order a bottle of their sauce($5) and I would have , had I known, because the portion I got to try with the sauce was good. I guess they assume anyone ordering BBQ has done so before and knows how to roll. Me? Not so much. Over all, I thought the service was great on each visit besides them trying to confuse the crap out of this little damsel in distress (*blink *blink) My, my, my, I do declare confusion. read more

My hush puppies were raw on the inside. At first I was upset but then I thought you know what? I'm trying to watch my diet so I don't need bread anyway. I let it go. I ordered the pulled chicken, it was okay. Not all that. The green beans taste like it came out the can. And the Brunswick stew was the nastiest I've ever tasted. It tasted like tomatoes, literally. No flavor or anything. My fiancé barely finished his food because he didn't like either. Everything just lacked season. I will say though, I tried to eat around the hush puppies since it was raw on the inside and the little bit that was edible was really good. That was the best thing on the plate. I will not be returning back. read more

You see those reviews that say this location is nothing like the one they've got in Stallings? THEY ARE ACCURATE. We ordered to go from this place, which started with an extremely awkward phone conversation where the person on the line did not acknowledge us in any way or give us a proper pickup time/total. It was like talking to a plant. So we were off to a great start! I got the pulled chicken with all white meat. It tasted like school cafeteria food. There were a lot of indiscriminate chicken bits I couldn't really identify. Just awful. I had a few bites and then gave it all to my dog, who was actually a fan. The potato wedges were decent, and I ate them with gusto. They were still underseasoned, though. Not nearly salty enough. Coleslaw tasted like I could have just eaten a glob of mayonnaise. I think I got three bites in and gave up. My dog didn't eat it. Bad, bad BBQ. Make the drive to Midwood--don't kid yourself by thinking this place will be edible. read more

Came in for lunch and ordered it to go. I did the Brisket sandwich plate which includes slaw, 1 side and a drink. Chose the Stew as my side. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but not impressed at all with the food. read more

We have gotten take out from the Rock Store in Stallings for years. Was in Mint Hill today and decided to bring home dinner. The staff was very nice. BBQ chicken was great, as always, but the brisket was bland and tough. I am the one in our family who complains restaurant food is too salty. The brisket was smoked, but nothing else, not even salt or pepper it. The texture reminded Hubby of crock-pot meat (which he does not care for). Sides were ok. Green beans weren't salted. Slaw had too much mayo. Banana pudding had no bananas. Or Nilla Wafers. Not to worry. We added our own, although we shouldn't have to do so for food we paid hard earned money for. read more

Stopped in for a bbq sandwich. Floor was dirty, every table was dirty. The batrooms (both I checked) had no paper towels to dry your hands. Went out to order and said I need some paper towels to dry my hands since none are in the bathrooms. No one responded so I walked over and got a bunch of napkins and dried my hands. There were three young kids working behind the counter. No one had a mask on, no one had any plastic gloves on as the worked on the food. I thought this was required. Maybe not. Two of the kids looked lost as they gazed out into the place. When we left, our table was cleaned (we cleaned it when we sat down to eat) but the other dirty tables hadn't been touched. Floor still dirty and still no paper towells in the bathrooms. Never saw a face mask on or even around their neck. It's sad, but we won't be back. With out paper towels how did the workers dry their hands after a bathroom visit? It was apparent no one cared. read more
