We visited the K Pot Matthews location about a month ago for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, they did not honor the birthday promotion, even though their website clearly states that the birthday person eats free with a party of four or more adults. When we asked about it, our female server said she didn't know why the website advertised the promotion because this location doesn't offer it. That was very confusing and disappointing. We usually dine with a group of 6-8 people, so we specifically chose K Pot because of the birthday special. We've been to the University Area location before, and they honored the promotion without any issues--they simply checked the birthday person's ID, and the meal was free as advertised. If different locations have different policies, the website should clearly state that. Otherwise, it's misleading and creates a disappointing experience for customers. read more

Came over to celebrate my 4 years with my company and honestly it was fun due to the company but the fact you have to choose either soup and meats or only meats it's interesting and only works well if everyone that goes likes the same things otherwise it's a waste of money. I thought cooking for myself would be so fun but it isn't and the flavor of meats was delicious due to my friend. One cool thing was the sauce and spice bar. Ambience it's a modern dive Korean spot. Our family came to celebrate my nephew's birthday with an early dinner. TIP: They do not accept reservations and will only seat a party at the table if half of the party is present at the establishment. However, we were the only guests upon arrival, so seating us was very fast. We decided to get drinks first and go over the menu. Our server explained how the kpot worked, he turned on the burners and explained how to turn on the soup burners. He also explained how to use the tablet to order more food. All the dishes were brought out very quickly, and cooking the foods was easy and quick as well. We did all 3 kpots, which are the soup, the BBQ style and the seafood boil kpot. TIP: Gratuity is included in parties of 6 or more people. They have a sauce/sides bar. You can choose sides like radish or cabbage kimchi or make your own sauces following the ingredients on the wall. They also have a dessert station. What an amazing experience. Visited on a Wednesday around 2:40pm and there were plenty of tables available. They will not sit a party if there isnt at least 5 people there ready to be seated. Our waiter Sean was nothing short than AMAZING. He explains everything in perfect detail if youre a newbie. You can choose from either the soup, grill or a seafood broil. We opted for all 3 at the lunch proce of $31 (if I remember correctly) per person. I think we could've done without the seafood broil but either way it was still tasty. Lota of food to go around. Plenty of vegtable, meat, chicken, and seafood choices. The have a hot sauce bar with a few recipes on how to make your own chili sauces. They also have a few French fries, chicken nuggets, eggrolls and desserts to pick from at the bar. Perfect for small little ones who just need something to much on. Experience: We had an amazing date night here, and we can't wait to come back! We started at the sauce bar and created some fun concoctions to dip our food in. Nestled into a strip mall, it was easy to find and park! We were greeted and seated immediately. What a vibrant eclectic atmosphere with endless seating, and I saw a few private rooms as well for big parties. The "salad bar" had tons of different sauce options, along with some fresh salads such as seaweed and kimchi, fresh fruit and then a spot with chicken nuggets, french fries and spring rolls which were tasty! The waitress easily walked us through our ordering process and away we went! We ended up with both the bbq and hot pot because for $5 more, why not?! Well worth it and the broth added another layer of goodness. So many options of fresh vegetables and meats, also seafood! We tried the thin sliced lamb, prime rib and mussels in our broth plus more beef and chicken bulgogi bbq. The spicy one was by far my favorite and not overwhelmingly spicy! Our meals were served with white rice, and a variety of noodles were also available to choose from. Overall, left stuffed after only an hour! Bad experience! Food was alright... first time there and first off the waitress never explained that if you add the soups it would be an extra charge to all people even if you don't eat it. Next I was told they didn't have any options for food for my child and still charged me even if he didn't eat anything, plus the soup extra charge! Next we waited 3x (40minutes) with 2 different workers to be told that our grill wasn't NOT working and that the host was well aware of the grill not working. Which to me was wild to put someone in a position like that and it was embarrassing just sitting there for 40 minutes and the food just sitting there too. WARNING - Long... K Pot - 74 in Matthews We had a tremendous experience at Kpot. First time any of of us had ever gone. I want to give a shout out to JC who was our server? He was phenomenal. MVery patient, he explained and walked us through the entire process. First of all? The place is huge. It is very clean. It is very well organized. The staff? Stellar. Quality of meats/seafood - STELLAR, fresh. JC, was very patient and did all the ordering for us this first time. It's all you can eat - during the week $20, $30 on the weekend. If you do KPot OR Korean BBQ. If you do both it's apx $35 on the weekend. WAY TOO MUCH FOOD to do BOTH. Go twice, try the barbecue one day and the KPot (soup) another day. Too much in one sitting. When you see the pictures I post of the menu, what we ordered - you will understand what I mean. You can order vegetables on the side, which come on a platter. You can order noodles for the K Pot. Different kinds. You can cook the food either in the K pot to boil them in your broth (thin slices meats) or roast them on the table grill. It is all you can eat. However, please be cautious? If you order too much meat/food upfront, you could end up with raw/cooked products that are left over. They end up getting thrown out OR you pay $15 a pound if you choose to bring it home. I know this is very detailed, but I will do my best to explain in advance for awareness. I strongly suggest if you go one time, try the Kpot or BBQ - NOT both - again go back a second time and try the BBQ. They have an amazing sauce bar that has so many different seasonings and kimchi. Oh my goodness! The best french fries you will eat anywhere. I'm going to tell you that right now. They are battered and fried - I hate potatoes - LOVED THE FRIES!! They also have spring rolls which are OK and chicken nuggets, which is probably really good for kids. If you do the ribeye? Know they only give you one at a time - so you would have to ask up front IF you are ordering for 'the table' - for example if there's three of you? Ask for 3 ribeyes if all of you want 1. If you do the shrimp, ask them to take the heads off! I believe it states the same on the menu, but who wants to eat shrimp with heads on? Just saying lol! The very thin meats? Please make sure the grill in the middle of the table? Is on low. The reason being? If it's on high, the meat will stick even with the oil spray because it's shaved. So know how to navigate the temperature of the grill, which is on the outside of the table. Go high to sear your shrimp, ribeye, other thick meat like pork belly and short rib. You will want to go low for the thin, sliced meats and salmon so you can flip them in one piece. If you do the seafood, you can ask for tabs of butter and use that instead of oil spray. The salmon, shrimp were excellent. VERY fresh! Everything was so fresh, was so good! Be prepared to cook your own food and know how to operate the grill so it's not on high the entire time. You server will come around and switch out the grill which is a great because using butter for seafood? It did blacken a bit! We did do barbecue and kpot but way tooooo much food! It was very good, but go slow so you don't waste food - order two or three items for BBQ, then go from there so you don't waste food. If you have questions, let me know but I will say our server JC? He was wonderful! They definitely walk you thru the process but I caution yet again? You don't want to have leftover food at the end unless you want to pay to bring it home. I feed the homeless so it killed me to see so much leftover food? Which is why I paid the $15 a pound to bring it home. Now that we know? Going forward when we go back, we will definitely order the minimum because again? There's no limit! SHORT REVIEW: Absolutely recommend this location 200%! Be prepared to cook your own food. Learn how to turn the grill from high to low depending on the food that you're cooking. Make sure you only order a couple of things at a time so you can eat what you order and don't have leftovers that will get thrown out or you will have to pay to bring home. Can't wait to go back and bring Friends with me! I had a blast! Every product we sampled? As you can tell from the pictures, we definitely ate a lot? Fresh fresh fresh meats, and seafood - such a treat! If you do the Kpot (which is the soup) vs BBQ - I did the mushroom broth and I loved it! I did it with udon noodles and ordered broccoli, different types of mushrooms, onions, spinach. You put it in the K pot - it boils at a high temperature that you control on the table, with dumplings and meats. It was so good so yes I did pay my $15 to bring it home lol! Do either the K-Pot or BBQ - do NOT do both because it's just too much food and you don't want to have to pay more than the $30 on the weekend and the $20 on the weekday. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

I love the concept but be prepared to make a ton of decisions when you're seated. You place your order on an iPad and it comes to your table fairly quickly. Everyone at the table has to pick the same order (bbq, ramen or both) but you can pick your own various options for your meal.
