He may have meant no harm but child please.

The lack of parking is stressful. First visit left a familiar and unpleasant taste in my mouth so I should have left when the young man in the picture took it upon himself to "call out" a perceived lack of greeting. I politely informed him... Baby I spoke but my question remains unanswered... He said he didn't hear it. Does the 4pc white dinner come with 2 breasts 2 wings? Order was told to take 20 minutes. Had I known that was the standard here then I would have ordered online for pick-up or just tried another day. Alas I'm waiting and writing this review. My order 4 pc white with 2 sides. There's an upcharge if you choose onions rings. It wasn't disclosed to me so I'm informing you. 1 hotdog sans ketchup. I'm cool with cooking upon ordering. I'm not happy with no 20 minute forewarning. They've made it this long without me and I trust they'll continue to thrive given it's locally owned+ a neighborhood fixture and recently covered on TV for their tenure is what led me here and I've been around since 2011. Even having 1 attendant at Northwest School of the Arts. Support Black businesses Lobby and Parking lot is clean This is grab and go. Tap pay accepted. Toast Tab online.

Great service, hot food,, smack your lips happy!!!! Fun little find in the city where the locals go. I haven't had a fried bologna sandwich in 40 yrs. Enjoyed it w/just mustard!!

This is a classic charlotte staple with a long history in the Queen City dating back to the 1950s. It is onto its third generation owners in the same family and was even featured in the Green Book permanently cementing it in history. If the long ties to the city don't make you want to check it out, believe me the food will seal the deal! It is a take out spot with picnic tables if you want to eat on sight. Burgers, hot dogs, barbecue ribs, fried chicken, it is all there. It is one of my favorite spots to go for lunch when I have the time and I really don't have too much else to say that hasn't been said already by the legions of adoring fans who has supported the over the years. Stop in for some delicious and affordable food that is cooked with love.

Loved this local spot for good food served hot and quick. Menu has a good selection of burgers, chicken, fish and assorted sides. All pricing is reasonable. Quality control is excellent as they are very clean and quite organized. Service was warmly provided along with getting recommendations. Had a large Arnold Palmer which is a sweet tea and lemonade mix that was awesome. Interior seating is small. Orders are placed and cooked to order. You get a text message when your order is ready for pickup. Everything was good and I'm going back soon

It was crowded when we went, so we expected this place to be super bomb. The place is small and seems like an to-go order only type spot. Our order was wrong unfortunately when we got home. The food was just average. We had the perch and chicken wings. I don't think I'd try this place again but I can't say the same for my hubby!

Stopped to get a pork chop sandwich for mom she said it was great and fried perfectly. Rib snack for my nephew with a salad he loved the ribs and BBQ sauce. Salad was very fresh. Lots of items to choose from on there menu. I loved this place before going vegan. Service is always quick and great! There is no dine-in but you can sit outside at the picnic tables. Stop pass and check them out!

Just a little chicken shack on the near north side been dishing out food to the locals and tourists alike for 70 years if it's been a day... chickens, ribs, sammiches, fishes, and all like that. If you're at all clever you can call ahead and when you show up you get your food... otherwise you go in, order, leave, and come back in about fifteen or twenty minutes to get your food. I didn't know I was coming here until I got here and wound up doing the order, wait, and pick-up on my way to the airport to collect the cutest of chicks. chicken & rib meal thing with greens and potatoe salad and a beverage; took a bit longer than twenty minutes but there was people coming and going the whole while so yeah, that happens. got my food and got on my way to the CLT overlook to enjoy while watching the planes come and go: two piece dark was still hot and crunchy and moist when I tucked into it, pork ribs are just crazy good and meaty; the pig-sickles were dripping sweet red stickiness everywhere. potato salad was a pleasant distraction and has little colorful bits in it as well. really could have used a dash of red pepper vinegar on the greens, but when that's my biggest complaint I have no complaint.

For dinner, I ordered the pulled pork combo and had my two usual sides when at a BBQ place: Mac n Cheese and BBQ baked beans. The large combo was just about $2 more than the regular sized one and was enough for 2 meals yet I managed to eat it all in one sitting. Hmm, imagine that. The pulled pork was plentiful and delicious and served with no sauce. This was perfect so one could choose how to have it. There's 4 sauces on the counter to try including Carolina specialties. It was was nice to try a variety. The BBQ baked beans were prepared with the North Carolina vinegar based sauce which is surprisingly tasty. I enjoyed this side. For the pork, I loved both of the Carolina sauces on it as well as plain. The Mac n Cheese was also good as the texture was just like I make in a casserole style and very tasty and complemented the rest of the meal very well. While at the bar I watched the Thursday Night Football game between the Steelers and the Browns (Browns won!) during my solo visit. I found there's a few of these Mac's Speed Shops around so it's nice to have location options when in Charlotte and it is a great value. If ever in this area, I'll look them up again.

Cold bbq? Attitude? GTFO impressions? No one's got time for that…read more Restaurants are so expensive nowadays, you really should pick somewhere great. This isn't one of them anymore in my opinion. I think they used to be good, the food is still pretty good if you don't mind it arriving cold... but we think the service is absolutely abhorrent, especially after our experience. Husband and I recently visited for a late lunch/early dinner, and came here because we normally love their food. We ordered the pulled pork and hush puppies. They forgot the hush puppies, and the pulled pork arrived cold - I'm talking the sides were warmer than the pulled pork cold, must've been in the fridge or something? Then the service. Ohhhh the service. Lady was acting SO pushy for us to leave. The food took forever to arrive, and when it did and we were only about 1/4 of the way through it, she asked if we wanted boxes. We said no, we're still eating. When we asked for her to check on the hush puppies, she was real dramatic about it and did manage to get those to us hot, AFTER the pulled pork arrived. Then she gave us the receipt without any tray or any indicator that we were to give payment to her, so we though Oh, this must've turned into one of those fast casual places and we pay at the counter. She kept hovering and hovering and taking our plates the MOMENT that she could - which in etiquette really implies gtfo, finish eating and go. When we were done and went to go pay, she barked at us and said something along the lines of "No, you pay ME. That's why I've been around so much!" and flounced off. Wow. Never eating here again. Maybe takeout at best, but absolutely not sitting in for that kind of "service." So sad because we watched this place when it was built. We still remember when we rolled up in our motorcycle, and the owner was handing out wine glasses on Opening Day. Heck, we were there during our wedding anniversary we liked it so much. Now I really think it's turned into something resembling trash.

I'd eaten here before and had good food memories, so after returning from Memphis with barbecue still on my mind, it seemed like the perfect time to go back. First, know what you're walking into--in the best possible way. Sweet Lew's is rustic, casual and charming. This is not fancy barbecue. They have their own private parking lot, which is a huge plus, but it's gravel. Ladies, leave the high heels at home unless you want to risk an ankle before you even get to the brisket! There's a screened-in porch/patio dining area and a small air-conditioned dining room inside, where you'll also find the restrooms. And when I say small, I mean small. It adds to the neighborhood barbecue-joint charm, but I can easily imagine this place getting packed during peak hours and weekends. I apparently hit the sweet spot because it wasn't crowded during my visit. The setup is equally casual. You line up, order and pay at the counter, grab your sauces and utensils, find a table and settle in. There's no wait staff. If you want a beverage, you'll head to the bar area and order that separately. Everyone I encountered was friendly, and service moved quickly. My usual order is the one-meat/two-side combo, which is $17 and includes hush puppies. This time I ventured away from the pork shoulder and ordered brisket with barbecue beans and potato salad. I also added the boiled potatoes as an extra side and a sausage link because I wanted to sample more of the menu. Unfortunately, the brisket didn't hit the same way the pork shoulder did on my previous visit. It was heavily peppered, not particularly moist, and had a thick fatty layer that peeled away from the meat. I was also missing that flavorful exterior bark I look forward to with brisket. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable. I sampled several sauces trying to find the right match. The mustard-based sauce was far too mustard-forward for my taste, and one of the sweeter sauces had a thick texture I didn't care for. The spicy barbecue sauce remains the winner for me. I'd enjoyed it previously with the pork shoulder, and it was the one I kept coming back to. The boiled potatoes looked delicious on the line but were underwhelming once I tasted them. They'll need a little doctoring up at home. The sausage took a few extra minutes, which I didn't mind since it came out fresh. Then came my biggest surprise: the bill was almost $35. Once I looked at the menu again, the math made sense. The combo was $17, but an additional side is $5 and the sausage link is $10. Lesson learned! The combo plates are clearly the better value rather than building your meal à la carte. I still like Sweet Lew's. My first meal here was stronger than this one, and next time I'll go straight back to the pork shoulder, spicy barbecue sauce and a combo plate. One disappointing brisket isn't enough to erase those good food memories. If you're around Belmont just outside Uptown and craving some barbecue, head over to Sweet Lew's. Wear sensible shoes, grab a combo, find your favorite sauce and enjoy the rustic charm. Life is too short not to sleep well, travel well or eat well. So get out there and find your next meal.

When we asked about the delay, our server, Justice, apologized but explained that he had to make drinks for other tables, so we'd just have to wait. The restaurant was dead when we visited, yet we still sat there largely unnoticed for far too long. When a place is that empty and you're still being ignored for 90 minutes, that says a lot. The food didn't make the wait worth it. The pulled pork was fatty and unpleasant, and the barbecue sauce was bland and watery -- not what you want from a barbecue joint. To make matters worse, no additional sauces were offered even when we specifically asked. The sausage came out burnt. My son ordered lean brisket and got a plate that was essentially all fat. Another son tried to order ribs, only to be told they were out. The one bright spot was the brisket chili, which was genuinely excellent -- but one good dish can't carry an entire meal. The fries were fine, nothing more. The value doesn't add up either. A combo plate at $24 that doesn't even include brisket is honestly a little absurd for a barbecue restaurant. Bottom line: between the poorly prepared food, the missing menu items, the questionable pricing, and service that left us waiting nearly 90 minutes, we would not recommend Jim N' Nick's and won't be coming back.
