As I chatted with the friendly owner at the counter, when seeing the sewing machine and colorful rows of threads, I couldn't help but think of my late Mother, as she too was a seamstress. I have her old Kenmore sewing machine among the treasured ancestral artifacts in my sacred space at home. I had been wanting to make a change in where to take my dry cleaning, and reading the positive reviews on Yelp for Dry Clean City, although they're further from my home than at least ten other dry cleaners, I decided to make the trek to give them a try. I felt a kindred spirit as soon as I walked in the door. This is not your usual chain operation here, this is a husband and wife team who've put their personal touch into their business for the last 21 years. As I'm on the verge of taking a long anticipated trip to Portugal and Morocco, I took 12 shirts, three pairs of pants, and one sport coat for dry cleaning, with one shirt also needing mending, after the edge of the lint filter in our dryer grabbed the hem of that garment, and wrapping the shirt into a tight ball, it also tore a hole at the seam. First, the wife at this cleaners did a masterful job of saving that shirt for me, it's as good as new, and for a very reasonable price no less. As for the dry cleaning, I'm sold, everything came out perfectly. I'll be looking dapper for my upcoming trip. But most of all, the reason I know I've found a new place to entrust the care of my highly valued garments with, is this husband and wife team, who put love into the work of their hands. As icing on the cake, their friendliness draws you in upon entering the door for the first time. You just know, these are great souls, they're caring people, and this is a clean operation, a business whose workmanship will help to build our self esteem, as we wear the stylish clothes they've renewed for us time and again. I went for the dry cleaning, but I'll be returning for the friendship, and for their personal touch, in helping their customers feel good about ourselves.
