I've tried this place plenty of times and it's always poppin! I decided to switch it up and try their matcha and maybe I'll stick to the ice cream desserts lol. The macron ice cream sandwich was so good and perfect for the summer! Luckily I work nearby so i definitely see myself stopping by during lunch for some ice cream! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by MiniMonster! The prices were super affordable--around $5.95, which is such a win for how cute and creative their desserts are. They had adorable options like ice cream macarons, and you get to pick your own macaron top! Some were shaped like bunnies, hearts, and other cute designs--it was almost too pretty to eat (but I still did). There were tons of Instagram-worthy photo ops, from the desserts to the aesthetic setup. There are maybe three or four sets of tables, but if you grab a seat inside or outside, it's such a vibe. This playful, fun dessert and beverage place was a delicious stop after having lunch a few steps away in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. We love going to this area to eat or walk around because there are so many choices. Inside Mini Monster they make a variety of coffee, tea and Boba drinks in unique flavors. The cafe is also set up with som fun shopping too. The baristas were helpful in suggesting which drinks to try as well. They have the most beautiful matcha flight! It's so unique, all the drinks are placed in a garden. The flavors were regular, strawberry, and banana. Both the regular and strawberry were 10/10. But personally, the banana tasted like those banana candies with artificial flavoring. Which, I'm not a fan of. I know other people love those, so it depends how you feel about the flavor. The boba was 100%! We got milk tea classic and peach tea both with boba. Sweetness levels and boba chewy was was perfect. The ladies working today were all super nice, even with the high heat. No AC, so we were all sweating haha. But I don't know hot it gets over there these days. The macarons were good too! They have a little mini store in the front which they sell specialty Asian snacks, ramen, candy and drinks, as well as a gift shop area. Ambiance was super cute. I wanted to like it. It's a cute place that sells a lot of fun things and imported snacks. Menu has a variety of different items but when it comes to milk tea, there's only 4 different flavors. I was there today and ordered 2 milkshakes and added boba to it. Tipped when I paid only for the service to not be good. When they called my name I went up, and they gave me 1 drink when I ordered 2. So they started making the second one. Then they had to fix the first one because there was no boba in it when I ordered and paid for it. It shouldn't be very hard to follow drink orders especially when you are the one that took the order. read more

We came here for dessert after dinner. We wanted to try something new and out of the ordinary. This was near to where we live so we choose this. After looking up some menu choices right here on Yelp. We settled on two items that we were more than satisfied with. The churro macaroon with the horchata ice cream is a must! The flan with ice cream is also a solid choice. I love the coconut drink here and I usually always get someone really nice but today at 5:46 the person working made us feel very unwelcomed. I have never had this type of distasteful service when I've come here and I come pretty often for the same coconut smoothie in the coconut shell. When I ordered it she asked me what size and I was confused because I had never been asked that when I order it so I looked at her confused and noticeably annoyed she says "Well it can be in a cup or shell" and it wasn't what she said but how she said it and the attitude she had since the beginning. She then told me they had no more coconut shells which I would usually say it's fine and order something else but at that point we just didn't want to purchase anything because of how rude she was. read more

This place is an absolute gem! While the seating area is small and cozy, you still have enough room to place your order at the counter and enjoy looking at all the unique items they have. I had the iced Vietnamese coffee and it did not disappoint! So so good! I' definitely be back to try more things. I also purchased the cutest little stuff animal! I shark with a six pack! The jasmine milk tea is just as good as I remembered it. I'm drinking it around 2:00 p.m., so I can hope that it will not interfere with my sleep. The upstairs cafe area is blocked off, most likely a victim of the pandemic reorganization. This is unfortunate, because the remaining seating area is quite limited. The outdoor patio remains available, but you'll be in full exposure of the scorching afternoon sun. The staff was friendly but nothing too special. Parking on 2nd Street is still a nightmare, but that's nothing new. read more

Mini Monster has been a beloved neighborhood cafe, serving delicious desserts, coffees, teas, matchas, smoothies, and boba drinks. Known for its signature take home glass jars, Mini Monster was the first to offer reusable jars for guests to bring back for refills to reduce the use of plastics. At the Belmont Shore location, we also create all our floral arrangements on site, dry our own flowers, and offer a variety of gifts, snacks, and more ♡

While I don't blame her bc she likely had nothing to do with that decision, she wasn't kind in relaying that information or trying to help me find something on the menu I may like. Her demeanor remained the same when my friend ordered his drink, and we both felt a very negative energy coming from this woman, simply put it didn't seem like she wanted to be there taking our order. This was around 1pm last Saturday (the 21st of March), so they had a decent amount of customers, but it wasn't some crazy morning rush. Forward to the drink : we grabbed our drinks which came out promptly. I tasted my matcha and just as I suspected due to the lack of sweetness, it just tasted like grassy chalk. I assumed that my friends latte would be better, as matcha can tend to have an earthy taste to it to begin with. Then I tried his... chalky and sour. Due to the lack of customization and the barista's attitude, we just took a couple sips and tossed our drinks. It was a super negative experience for a place I really really wanted to like. I think allowing people to use sweetener and cold foam on more than just seasonal lattes would be a great first start, and perhaps training the staff on appropriate customer interaction would also help. Loved the branding on this spot, but it seems like the people who work there don't want to be there and it really put a damper on the experience, and for a place so cute, the drinks and vibes should be top notch.

Seeing the pride flag and a "Black Lives Matter" banner already comforts me since I love to support businesses that align with my values. Solid coffee, seasonal offerings and good pastries. I will never not try an Almond Croissant offering. There is seating on the outside and inside. Support them.

When the employee finally came out with my order, I said "hello" and got no response. I then said "thank you" while grabbing the drinks and was met with an extremely rude, dirty look. His attitude was immediately hostile for no reason. When I calmly told him he was being rude, he responded sarcastically and then escalated the situation by yelling at us and saying "f*ck you" before walking away. I was honestly in complete disbelief. That is unacceptable behavior from anyone, especially someone working in customer service. If you're in the area, you're better off going to Stereoscope Coffee down the street. The staff there are friendly, welcoming, and they don't curse at their customers. Philz seriously needs to address how this location treats people, because no one should be spoken to like that just for picking up coffee.

I absolutely love this coffee shop! Not only is it a great place to study because of the cozy…read moreambiance, but the service is always wonderful and their hot herbal teas are so good. I came here often while studying for an exam, and it was the perfect environment to stay focused. Being surrounded by other people working and studying really creates the kind of atmosphere you need to get through long study sessions. Definitely one of my favorite spots to spend a productive afternoon.
