Due to the changes in the mortgage / real estate industry, it has left me needing to get a storage space. So I have been there for over a year now. This manager from day 1 showed compassion and understanding. He has proven to be a very professional, attentive and fair representative of the company. When I leave a voice mail, he returns the call usually the same day. I just want to say Thank you Eric - you go above and beyond for your customers!

They have a very sneaky policy called " pro rate in and NOT out" meaning that you will pay for the…read moredays used when you start your service after the 1st, so if you started the 5th, you will pay only for the remaining days of the month used ( 30 or 31 minus 5). But, if you move out before the end of the month, the very nice ladies from customer service will call you to appreciate your business and let you know that they will rent your unit to someone else. I asked if I would get any money back for what I pay for in advance ( pro rate out) and I was told that the policy clearly states that NO pro rate out. Also, I was told that it was mentioned to me about that policy before I signed off which I don't remember if someone have had mentioned it to me. Management tries to make as much money as possible by keeping the pro rated money already paid and on top of that, they are trying to make more money by renting my unit to someone else. Very unprofessional and disgusting way of doing business.

Some how a misunderstanding came about and at the last minute (I do mean last) and she was able to fit me onto her site whew ! When we arrived she had just finished cleaning and treating the unit to be rented. We started the paperwork, she explained everything and later delivered an envelope to me knowing that we were on a time schedule. If you need a storage unit call about availability Ark fills up pretty quickly and the "special rates" are "good for six months only."

Public Storage is essentially a bait and switch operation which engages in deceptive business…read morepractices with its customers. For example, you cannot trust consumer ratings on the company's website which are all collected on the first day of move in and curated by the company to publish only the most positive of reviews. You will note that there is no way to publish an independent review of Public Storage on its website after the first day of move in. Beware of reviews posted on Yelp and Google reflecting satisfaction with the first day of move because the company facilitates their placement. Concentrate on reviews of Public Storage over the length of the rental experience. I am a deeply dissatisfied customer particularly because of Public Storage's bait and switch pricing practices. Without stating so, the company attempts to lure you in with a rental rate that is superficially reasonable. There is no opportunity to sign an annual contract or to lock in a long-term rental rate. In my case in what I understand to be standard practice for this company, the company arbitrarily announced a 35% rent increase six months after I rented my unit raising my bill from $281 to $381/month. The amount is, no doubt, calculated to squeeze as much extra income as possible out of the renter while still making it uneconomical to hire movers to change to a different facility. In essence, one you store your stuff with them they have you over a barrel and exploit that mercilessly. When I objected, I was told they did not care, and I was welcome to take my business elsewhere. I would suggest you do so as well.
