The menu is extensive and has plenty of seafood options as well as meat dishes. We ordered a variety of both and everything was delicious. My only critique is the portion size. It's okay for a few people but for a family meal, we had to order two portions of some dishes. There's another gentleman that brings the food out and buses tables that's also very friendly. The west lake soup is also a classic done so well - pro tip to add white pepper to give it a little kick. The steamed pork belly was okay - sauce is flavorful (a touch salty) along with the preserved greens but the pork wasn't as tender as I had remembered it. The fish filets are fried to perfection, full of salt/pepper flavor, and pairs well with the jalapeños. If you don't like fish, you can get the same flavor with the pork version of this dish, which I also really like. The service can be a little slow because it's just 1 chef and 1 waitress who own the restaurant - same people that have run the show since I first came here probably almost 30 years ago! The lady working was sweet and was working her butt off with the 5 tables she had. Felt great to support a local business. The restaurant itself is out dated but the tables and utensils were clean. The atmosphere added to the experience and the background music was just perfection.

It even had real orange peels in it, which gave it a ton of flavor and made it feel way more authentic than most orange chicken I've had. The portions were huge too. I ordered takeout and still had enough food left over for another meal. The menu is massive, and I had no idea what to get at first. Chris (server) took the time to help me look through the menu, explain some of the dishes, and make recommendations. He didn't make me feel rushed at all, which I really appreciated especially for the takeout focused style they have going on. The owner, was also super friendly and welcoming when I came in. It was also cool hearing about some of the improvements they have planned for the restaurant. You can tell they care about the place and want to keep making it better. Great food, great people, and great portions. Definitely won't be my last visit! Edit: Literally downloaded Yelp to review because after looking at some on Apple Maps and Google, this place doesn't deserve the outdated reviews from previous ownerships.
