Favorite Chinese food in DFW area! We always do the dinner special for 2. Today we got the fried rice with kung pao shrimp and Thai style lo mein. We love the egg drop soup here. Being from NY and now living in NJ I have to say I didn't know what to expect for a Chinese takeout in TX. But I have to say the food was good. I ordered the shrimp with broccoli w/ extra sauce, shrimp egg foo young, Szechuan shrimp and chicken wings for me and my family. The gravy for the egg foo young looked suspect as it was very loose/watery but it was really good. Just not thick like I am used to. Everything was good. And the portion size is very generous. Reminded me of my favorite Chinese restaurant growing up in the BX. Family owned-the husband/wife/son team was so nice and friendly. We all called the wife mommy. We've gotten food here multiple times for take out and it has always been amazing., Generous portions, the vegetables are so fresh, and the woman at the counter was very kind. They have vegetarian and healthy options available as well. I find it really hard to find Chinese food that I like and I absolutely love this place. First, I should have known when I walked and the smell of a nail salon kicked me in the face. There are boxes and trash everywhere on the back side of the restaurant. No one was in there and the employees were in the back. The food was TERRIBLE, with no taste when the place is called China Taste gross place. Even my cookie was old and off colored. Was really having higher hopes for this place I asked the cashier if there were crunches for my hot n sour soup. She assured me there was but I should have just checked because they're weren't and the soup was bland. My rice was over cooked and dry and the sesame chicken was alright sauce was good but I don't know when every Chinese restaurant decided to change their breading on their chicken but I hate it. We usually carry out from China Taste but we decided to dine in for the first time recently and really enjoyed our experience. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and cozy. It's definitely a family owned business and everyone helps out. We were in for dinner and started with fried pork dumplings and hot and sour soup. I'm not even lying these are the best pork dumplings I've ever had anywhere. How do such simple ingredients stand out so well? I don't know. I want more now. I always get the hot and sour soup. It's especially good when I'm sick. The small size is what other places call a bowl. The large size is HUGE. And the soup is packed with good stuff and HOT. Not American hot. Really HOT. It's great and a good value for something that's not easy to make at home. For entrees, I got orange chicken and hubs got Szechuan chicken. This is the best orange chicken on the planet. Never go anywhere else, ok? It's so good. So, so, so, so good. It's crispy. The sauce is thick, sticky and fragrant. There are actual pieces of orange zest in the sauce-not grated because that could get bitter pith into the sauce-larger pieces removed with a paring knife for max orange oils with no possibility of pith. The steamed broccoli florets were perfectly cooked and arranged around this masterpiece. I'll never order anything else. It's. So. Good. When my hubs saw my orange chicken his eyes got sad. I could tell he was crying inside because he wanted my dinner instead of his. He kind of picked at his Szechuan chicken and so I offered him some of mine. He gobbled it down and his eyes got big O.O Fortunately, an entree is more than enough to share at China Taste! I'm sure the Szechuan chicken was fine, but Dat. Orange. Chicken! So, tldr: China Taste is a great family run small business in Rockwall with the best dumplings and orange chicken anywhere! Get some! read more

Tried this place for the first time at the beginning of July and had to go back again today! The food is good and offers a wide variety, especially if you want to get away from chains like Panda Express and Pei Wei. Service is friendly and fast. I am 67 years old and grew up in Hawaii. I have been looking for good Chinese food in Texas for almost 2 years. I can not believe how good this food is. Everything was cooked to perfection. The egg rolls were the best I have ever had in my life. What amazed me with each entry we tried it was perfect. Honey Walnut prawns to die for. Hot & sour soup perfectly balanced. The fried pork Wontons again perfectly cooked, crispy and not a bit of oil. The scallops & shrimp in a garlic sauce was a masterpiece flavor. I could go on, but you can get the picture. We tried this place twice and will never make the mistake again. The first order we had delivered, the delivery guy insisted that we had to pay for it although we had paid by phone. Easy enough, a phone call took care of that. However, the second time we did not get part of our order tha we paid for by card; when I called the place to explain, the girl on the phone just wanted to argue with me about it, not even letting me speak to another person. Really solid Chinese spot. We ordered take out a few nights ago and really enjoyed it. We got the honey walnut prawns, sesame chicken, mongolian beef, chow fun, egg rolls, pot stickers, chicken fried rice, and lo mein. I really liked the honey walnut prawns and sesame chicken. The prawns were really sweet and the pecans were nice and crunchty, and the season chicken had a nice fry to it. Truthfully, I really liked it all, but these were my two favorites. I ate here for first time today. I got there right at 11 just as they opened. Place looks clean inside. Menu has been prices and ingredient list has been changed several times, and they just white outed and hand wrote the new details. I had the King Pao chicken lunch. Came with hot and sour soup and a egg roll. Was $7.04 total, so way cheaper than other places around. Over was exactly what you think a Chinese food place would be. Nothing spectacular, but food was good, and friendly staff, at excellent price. I'll go back from time to time. read more

Service was very good but food was disappointing. I don't recall the dish I ordered but it came with broccoli and even though the meat portion of my entree was hot, the broccoli had cold spots like they put it in the microwave and didn't heat it up long enough. Same with the rice. When I took a bite, it was hot in some spots and cold in others. It definitely didn't just come right out of the wok and IF it did, they didn't heat it up thoroughly. Took the leftovers home and attempted to eat them the next day for lunch. It was not good at all and ended up throwing most of it away and if you know how I hate wasting food, this says quite a bit. Best Chinese food in Rockwall! The only thing I can say is that their orange chicken is really bad. Their fried rice is amazing. Their pepper steak is pretty good but feels like they rip you off with the meat and there's more peppers and onions than meat. We have not ordered from them in over six month due to poor quality food and wrong items delivered. Today we thought we would give them another shot. Amazing inglorious the order was wrong and we received an order of tofu. We x asked back and asked to have it corrected. The girl on the phone conveniently could not understand what we needed. All I asked was replace the order way paid for that was wrong. She said that they only had one driver and hung up on us. An employee did call us. Back and said they would send out a replacement. The options for Chinese food, even the cruddy Americanized variant, are pretty limited east of the lake. This place is nice enough inside, the staff of young HS students were bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Very helpful and responsive. Ample parking for a strip mall establishment. The problem? The food was, well... bland. Uninspired, just lacked flavor, how do you make shrimp fried rice tasteless? They managed. The shrimp were fresh, the veggies were even fresh... it was just bleh. I ordered beef, water chestnuts and chilis in a szechuan sauce. Holy-mother-of-waterchestnuts! It looked, and tasted, like the guy busted out a can of La Choy water chestnuts and dumped them water-n-all into the wok with some premade La Choy szechuan sauce. Everything, again, was cooked properly and the ingredients were fresh... just well... (ran out of ways to say tasteless/bland). I got a pair of what appeared to be fresh pork eggrolls... and I assume they were home-made because of the utter lack of pork in them... they were more like cabbage rolls with some specs of pork. Fresh again, but uninspired and bland (how does something deep fried STILL come out bland *boggle*). I'll keep trying other places in the area, it's pretty limited and all-in-all this place is better than Hunan whateveritis in DT Rockwall. Unfortunately I can go only one. We ordered a meal for 4. It actually was ok in taste but they forgot our egg rolls and they charged more than their menu price. I called to question this and they just hung up on me. I drive to the store and they still argued even though I showed them the menu. They have 8 yr old children running the place and at the end of the day I told them it was ok to keep the 6.00 extra, but they shouldn't do that. I said it's just not ethical or honest. Used to be our go to spot for Chinese. Not after last night, 12/19/20. We called in our typical takeout order and was told 20 minutes. I arrived in 20 minutes and was told just a few more minutes. The woman at the counter stayed on her phone while flipping a stick like a baton. After listening to her drop the stick on the floor for 15 minutes I asked again about my order. She walked over to a table which held 3 or four takeout orders and handed my bag to me. So my order was on the table before I arrived. I questioned her about the wait and whether my food would still be hot. She said my order just came out , which was not true. My food was lukewarm when I got home and everything needed the microwave. Moved recently to area. Wanted Chinese food & was going to the Walmart & spotted their sign. I went in was greeted by ladies that were very kind & explained menu items of some I wasn't aware of.
