Went here for dim sum with the family. I appreciated that all servers asked if there were any food allergies. My party has a peanut allergy, so it was appreciated that our server immediately warned us that all bbq items contained peanut butter. We normally would have ordered the bbq pork buns or roast duck, but because of the presence of peanut, we ordered other dishes. Our server reviewed our menu selection to make sure we weren't ordering anything that would contain peanuts. The food itself was tasty. I was amazed at the hom sui gok (fried pork dumplings). They were crispy and hot. Lots of fillings-- normally I don't find fillings until I'm past halfway in, but I'd say I saw filling within the first 1/4 of the dumpling.
Love Minghin. It's one of our favorite places. The food was delicious as usual. We shared crag ragooons, combination fried rice and egg yolk buns. I also had the wonton soup. Everything was great. The service is always prompt and helpful. The ambiance is a casual but classy. Always a great experience here!
Always gotta get dimsum when in Chicago. This was our second time here and it did nto disappoint. We got there around 1pm and were seated right away. We ordered a bunch of dimsum and crispy chowmein on the tablet. Food came out quickly, was delicious, and the service was very friendly. My kids gobbled up all the food. They love dimsum as much as me!
MingHin is such a gem for dimsum. We came on an early Saturday afternoon and it was relatively busy. The service was quick and pleasant. We ordered entirely too much food but we needed to try many things. We the wonton dumpling soup was the starter and was followed by many dumplings, shrimp shumai, leeks, bao, fried rice, Peking duck and more. It was only three of us so we had a ton of leftovers and made sure to bless someone else with them up the street. The restaurant was bright and clean. A high end casual feel.
This stop is an annual must visit! Service is attentive and fast, everything is clean and the area is spacious and well decorated. Ordering is on an iPad and payment is at your table-and yes, they can split the charges amongst your tablemates. Pictures of the food are on the iPad, categorized by main dishes to beverages, and you can customize with ADD ONS like chicken, beef, veggies, etc!!! Main dishes room run in the $17-25 range and are generously portioned. And yummy-obviously, since we come here ANNUALLY. And yes, you get a fortune cookie with your tab. Super convenient - and we order almost the same thing every year...but! If you ever wanted dim sum for dinner? Yes, you can! You can also dine outdoors, by the way. PS. Clean restrooms and they are spacious! Enjoy!
Service was good! And the restaurant was beautiful! Food just missed the mark. Everything needed more seasoning or flavor very bland. Ended up adding a sweet and sour soup half way through the meal thinking it would be delicious and it was not it also lacked major flavor! Not spicy at all. Soup dumplings horrible. Black pepper short rib had sooo much fat! Half the serving was fat. Best item was the wood ear mushroom and pork dumpling. Maybe the hot dishes are better then the dim sum. Skip this place!
Excellent all around!!! Stopped in for a late lunch after checking into the nearby Marriott magnificent mile-side note- nothing magnificent about that dump. I digress. MingHin is definitely worth checking out. I had two lunch specials- don't judge me- I needed comfort food after dealing with the hotel- and a dim sum order. The specials I had were bbq pork and Chinese broccoli over rice! Order this! Chicken with veggies! Also excellent. For dim sum I got shrimp with chive dumplings, siu mai, and baked buns. All amazing. Service was phenomenal and they did not make me feel weird for ordering so much food! Hahaha!
Been a loyal patron of MingHin for over 10 years. When I lived in Chicago I discovered their og Chinatown location, and dim sum brunch became a monthly tradition. I live in Austin now but make sure to visit MingHin whenever I'm back in Chicago for work trips. Went to the Streeterville location for the first time and was impressed by the interior design, service and food (of course). Lots of seating and no wait times at this location (yay!). I ordered my staples - shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp rolls, pan fried potstickers, chow mein, and egg custard tarts for dessert. Each item was better than the last! All the food came out quickly, tasted like it was freshly prepared and was very flavorful. I enjoyed complimentary tea with my meal as well. Still reasonably priced.
This is my first time here and the food we had came out fast and fresh. Wow! I'm very impressed with the ambiance, lighting, design as well as the quality of food and service. This is a must visit when you're in the Chicago area. We had our own table of five round table with lazy Susan and it felt very nice to have some partitions in between other tables but open enough to blend in with the rest of the room. Check out the photos and you will be able to see it for yourselves.
Husband got take out dinner. He raved about the egg rolls with lots of cabbage & pork in them. 12/10 Crab Rangoon was also great quality with lots of cream cheese and crab! 12/10! Sesame chicken was really good also! 8/10 The restaurant itself is actually gorgeous!!! Love all the chandeliers and how open, airy and bright it is! Highly recommend coming here for a date night or just getting take out!
For my first lunch in Chicago, I decided to find a place that had Cantonese-style Chinese food. After some research, I settled on Minghin Cuisine. This is a chain of restaurants across the city. This location was within walking distance of the hotel. I went with a friend, and we were led to a table immediately. Before we could look at the menu, water was on the table and the menu is on an iPad. The dishes look exactly as what comes to the table. The servers were attentive and were not intrusive during the meal. The restaurant is much bigger than the entryway would have you think. I had shrimp-fried rice and sesame chicken. The thing to know is that the size of the servings is not lunch size, but family size, and the serving size is enough for 3-4 people, particularly if you order more than one dish. The shrimp fried rice was well prepared, but the rice was a bit crunchy. So often the fried rice has carrots and peas, but this had bean sprouts, and they were perfectly cooked, so the sprouts had a bit of a crunch. Too often, this dish comes with tiny shrimp. The size was unexpected, and the lunch was very full. Chili sauce and hoisin sauce are placed on the table, but you have to ask for soy sauce. The tea was nice and very, very hot. I enjoy beginning a meal with tea. The sesame chick en was well prepared and I forgot that this is a dish that is more on the sweet side. I did enjoy it, but thought I ordered a more savory dish with greater heat and spice. I would definitely return, but I will go with a friend and order less.
This is a legit Cantonese Chinese restaurant in downtown Chicago on Ohio street, Streeterville area. They don't have set banquet menu but you can easily create your own menu. We had a mixed group where some have never had true Cantonese Chinese food so I got to order. Soup - they have fish Maw on the menu but it was too adventurous for the kids so we ordered won soup and the broth was flavorful and clean and won tons juicy and bouncy. Vegetables- pea sprouts and tofu. When I saw this on the menu, I knew it was legit because I order this all the time in my hometowns of San Francisco Bay Area. Seafood birds nest- solid dish, lots of seafood and the best was made with taro root and not noodles, which is the right way of preparing this dish instead of being cheap and using noodles. Seafood chow mein - good amount of seafood and the noodles were crispy but not burnt and the sauce beautifully softened the noodles for a great contrast in bite. Peking duck - this was an average Peking Duck but I'm a Duck snob so very picky about preparation and seasoning. Orange chicken - I would never order this but the kids wanted it and I can tell you it was delicious! This is no Panda Express orange chicken. The flavor was deep, not heavily sauced yet still crispy. Dried scallop and egg white fried rice was deliciousl. Chef had enough "wok hei"!to get that flavor that you can't achieve at home or know how to handle a wok. Not greasy at all and bit carried so much flavor from the dried scallops and bits of gai lan. Fish fillet with vegetables was another solid dish! I would definitely bring my parents (very picky about good Chinese food) when we come to Chicago again. Service was great and the restaurant was bright and clean. Highly recommend!

It turns the meal into a kind of pleasant roulette: you never know which dish is going to land on the table next, but it's always hot and fresh when it does. Ordering on the iPad menu is surprisingly helpful. Every dish has a photo and a description, which is perfect if you're not familiar with something or just want to make sure you're getting exactly what you think you're getting. Staff checks in often enough that you feel looked after, but never in that hovering, "are you done yet" way. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable for downtown, and the food is consistently solid. Of all the Asian spots in Chicago, the Crab Rangoon here is my favorite -- crisp, creamy, balanced, and not weighed down with that overly sweet filling you get elsewhere. The Seafood Egg White Fried Rice is another go‑to: simple, understated, and excellent. It's the kind of dish that doesn't need flash because it's already doing everything right. MingHin is one of those places you end up returning to because it's reliable, comfortable, and genuinely good at what it does. Whether you're grabbing a quick meal, introducing someone to dim sum, or just craving that fried rice again, it always hits the spot.

Ever since moving from LA to the Midwest, we have been on the hunt for a good dim sum place. It's hard to find authentic Chinese food out here so when we found MingHin, it definitely scratched our itch! The last time we were in Chicago, we came here 3 times. That's how much we missed Chinese food! We also brought our friends here and they enjoyed it too. The service is incredibly fast and efficient and the staff is very attentive. Their dishes are hot and fresh and well seasoned. Some favorites that we always order are the Hot and Sour soup, Sui Mai, Ginger Beef Stir Fry, Fried Chow Mein, and Salty Fish Fried Rice. Their dishes are always consistent and they also serve a pot of hot tea that is refillable throughout your meal, as is customary at dim sum. Their portions are very generous so we often have leftovers that we can have later too. We will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago! If you are looking for quality and authentic Chinese dim sum, look no further. MingHin is a spot worth checking out. read more

Came here to try brunch and l thought it was ok. The service was alright. The exterior and interior is definitely attractive . Tea service : l thought you get to pick your own tea flavor ? Back in L.A. , the staff would ask what kind you like. Maybe they have 1 kind only. Surprised l was not given an option. But the chrysanthemum tea was your typical tea-- no complaint. Staff service : subpar The egg tart was hot. The jellyfish dish was meh ( it tasted dry and didn't have a kick. I think it needs more sesame oil in it ). The spare rib lacked black beans and it was chewy. The common har gow and shiu mai were good. My fave turnip cake was very fulfilling . read more

We dropped by MingHin Cuisine with the family on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised by how upscale the interior felt and how fantastic the customer service was. The staff was so attentive and welcoming! We tried a whole range of dishes: the braised beef honeycomb tripe came in thick, delicious pieces; the choy sum with oyster sauce was super fresh; the pan-fried turnip cake was perfectly crispy; and the salted pork with preserved egg congee was rich and full of flavor. Even the sweet and sour chicken was a hit- not too spicy, which was perfect for the kids. Overall, everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. read more

Pretty swanky place for a 10am dim sum experience. Menu is provided on an iPad with selections (with photos) and prices. Very extensive menu but there's a little category section on the left to keep it more manageable. Dishes came out as they were ready. Didn't get a photo if the sticky rice in lotus leaf, but that was my favorite. Everything was delicious. Individual pieces were LARGE. Much larger than I expected. We ended up taking some home. read more

I was thrilled to discover MingHin Cuisine had opened a location right on the ground floor of the Grand Ohio. This is legitimate Chinatown Cantonese cuisine (with a few other regional specialties mixed in to the menu). The room is elegant, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making this an even more exceptional spot to bookmark in Streeterville, where the "value" pickings can be slim. read more

Happy hour (2:30 -5 PM) brought us in and we're glad it did! We enjoyed the lovely restaurant decor and comfortable, large sized booth. The dining room was nicely lit and the service was excellent. Several servers checked on us throughout our meal. We enjoyed an order of pot stickers, shrimp fried rice, and rib eye steak with fresh mushrooms. This is another restaurant that offers iPads to place your order. Love this opportunity! Food was tasty and the hot tea was perfect! read more

Cantonese style dim sum with six locations in Chicago and Chicagoland. This location is beautiful as others have commented. We appreciated they had the sweet and sour sauce found in Cantonese dim sum. Orders: Steamed salted egg yolk bun (6.5/10): filling wasn't as flavorful; not enough of the filling; the bun was a bit mushy. Honestly we could have gone to a supermarket, bought the buns and made the filling Siu Mai (8.5/10): in true Cantonese style, it has pork and shrimp. The shrimp adds a bit of bounce Shrimp dumpling of green chive (8/10): the wrapper was more gelatinous than we would have liked but still a unique taste Ha Gao (shrimp dumpling) (7.5/10): it's standard and decent Stuffed bean curd skin with pork and shrimp (8/10): it wasn't too sweet (sometimes they can make it too sweet in other places) and the filling was good Fried rice noodle beef with XO sauce (6/10): this normally comes with soy sauce, but we asked for XO sauce. This dish was as a complete pass-- tasteless. Deep fried shrimp roll (7/10): it was decent but nothing to rave about read more
I've been to 3 different locations of Minghin and every time has been amazing! We usually get the BBQ Pork Udon Noodles, Chicken fried rice, Sumai dumplings, sesame balls and so much more. My favorite however are the soup dumplings! Delicious! The service is excellent and the decor (especially at the Ohio St location) is beautiful! I highly recommend. read more
Came here for a Chinese food fix as my previous trips have been tasty. This time we didn't order dim sum for dinner. The scrambled eggs with shrimp and bitter melon was good. But the bbq pork rib was disappointing w soggy ribs and super bad cuts of meat. The service was often mediocre as with most Chinese restaurants. The main dining room was super hot when we went in and we had to request a new seat in the side dining room. In addition, all the seats in the main dining room room seem to be ripped and that made me very uncomfortable. Throughout the restaurant, all the tables and floors were super greasy. They are not amazing, but they're not bad either in the middle of Chicago downtown. I just wish that they would bring back the quality that they used to have when I first visited them a few years ago. read more

I LOVE coming here for lunch. The free tea is a hit and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Very modern interior and order through an iPad. Staff is okay, usually quiet and working hard. Crab Rangoons are some of the best in the city, and their lunch menu is very nicely priced for the amount of food you get. Everything I've had here has been great from the noodles, to appetizers, to fried rice, and kung pao chicken. I highly recommend! read more
Okay this place is stunning. The high ceiling decor is so unlike standard Chinese/dimsum restaurants and I am obsessed. I love that we can order off a tablet with pictures which made ordering super easy. The dishes apparels freshly steamed when ordered which I appreciate. The fried shrimp roll was delicious! There was much shrimp packed in the roll and it was perfectly salty and crunchy. I wasn't a huge fan of the scallion pancake because it had a more bun texture than crispy. The food options for dim sum here are high and the service is friendly. Come check this place out! read more

First time at this location. I usually go to the location in the Loop but my friend suggested this location. This location is gorgeous. I was surprised with how high-end the decor was for this location. Definitely was much more glamorous than I anticipated. On this occasion I met some of girlfriends for dinner and drinks. We all enjoyed some sips. I had a mai tai and it was good. I wished there was more selections white wine. For appetizers we got crab rangoons and beef on a stick. Crab Rangoons were delicious. For food we ordered general tao chicken dish, beef lo mein, chicken fried rice and bok choy. It was plenty to feed four ladies and we even had leftovers. All in all it was a good experience. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again . Because of location, I thought it might be a tourist trap since so close to Navy Pier but it was just as good as the other locations. read more

I came here a few years ago and liked the food so I came back. I believe they have expanded the restaurant from my recollection. they seem to have a robust carry out service. I was promptly seated and given a tablet to order. The tablet was relatively easy to navigate and had good photos of each dish but could have used more description. I ordered egg rolls a beer and orange beef extra spicy. the food was good and quick . Not much staff attention while dining but I was asked 2 times before finishing if I was done. I eat fast so it was somewhat ridiculous and rushed. positive great food negative service is oriented around getting quick orders and a quick exit with less attention on patient experience. read more

Is this location kid friendly? It looks super fancy according to the pictures posted
Absolutely kid friendly. Wonderful food! If you are seated inside ,at least when I went it was mostly families from within the Asian communities. It's seemed that the outside seating was for more of the see and be seen crowd. Great food!
Is there valet parking?
There is a parking lot next to the restaurant that has parking for a fee. There is also some street parking available.
I read someone post Happy Hour? What days and times are they?
20% of all menu items from 2:30PM to 5PM, Mon to Fridays only. Very good authentic asian cuisine at good prices!
Is there a specific time for dim sum or is it any time of the day during operating hours? I'm visiting from out of state.
Dim sum is always available. I have gotten it in the evening.
