Been a loyal patron of MingHin for over 10 years. When I lived in Chicago I discovered their og Chinatown location, and dim sum brunch became a monthly tradition. I live in Austin now but make sure to visit MingHin whenever I'm back in Chicago for work trips. Went to the Streeterville location for the first time and was impressed by the interior design, service and food (of course). Lots of seating and no wait times at this location (yay!). I ordered my staples - shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp rolls, pan fried potstickers, chow mein, and egg custard tarts for dessert. Each item was better than the last! For my first lunch in Chicago, I decided to find a place that had Cantonese-style Chinese food. After some research, I settled on Minghin Cuisine. This is a chain of restaurants across the city. This location was within walking distance of the hotel. I went with a friend, and we were led to a table immediately. Before we could look at the menu, water was on the table and the menu is on an iPad. The dishes look exactly as what comes to the table. The servers were attentive and were not intrusive during the meal. The restaurant is much bigger than the entryway would have you think. I had shrimp-fried rice and sesame chicken. The thing to know is that the size of the servings is not lunch size, but family size, and the serving size is enough for 3-4 people, particularly if you order more than one dish. The shrimp fried rice was well prepared, but the rice was a bit crunchy. So often the fried rice has carrots and peas, but this had bean sprouts, and they were perfectly cooked, so the sprouts had a bit of a crunch. Too often, this dish comes with tiny shrimp. The size was unexpected, and the lunch was very full. Chili sauce and hoisin sauce are placed on the table, but you have to ask for soy sauce. The tea was nice and very, very hot. I enjoy beginning a meal with tea. The sesame chick en was well prepared and I forgot that this is a dish that is more on the sweet side. I did enjoy it, but thought I ordered a more savory dish with greater heat and spice. I would definitely return, but I will go with a friend and order less. read more

Pretty swanky place for a 10am dim sum experience. Menu is provided on an iPad with selections (with photos) and prices. Very extensive menu but there's a little category section on the left to keep it more manageable. Dishes came out as they were ready. Didn't get a photo if the sticky rice in lotus leaf, but that was my favorite. Everything was delicious. Individual pieces were LARGE. Much larger than I expected. Happy hour (2:30 -5 PM) brought us in and we're glad it did! We enjoyed the lovely restaurant decor and comfortable, large sized booth. The dining room was nicely lit and the service was excellent. Ever since moving from LA to the Midwest, we have been on the hunt for a good dim sum place. It's hard to find authentic Chinese food out here so when we found MingHin, it definitely scratched our itch! The last time we were in Chicago, we came here 3 times. That's how much we missed Chinese food! We also brought our friends here and they enjoyed it too. The service is incredibly fast and efficient and the staff is very attentive. Their dishes are hot and fresh and well seasoned. Some favorites that we always order are the Hot and Sour soup, Sui Mai, Ginger Beef Stir Fry, Fried Chow Mein, and Salty Fish Fried Rice. Their dishes are always consistent and they also serve a pot of hot tea that is refillable throughout your meal, as is customary at dim sum. Their portions are very generous so we often have leftovers that we can have later too. We will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago! We dropped by MingHin Cuisine with the family on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised by how upscale the interior felt and how fantastic the customer service was. The staff was so attentive and welcoming! We tried a whole range of dishes: the braised beef honeycomb tripe came in thick, delicious pieces; the choy sum with oyster sauce was super fresh; the pan-fried turnip cake was perfectly crispy; and the salted pork with preserved egg congee was rich and full of flavor. Cantonese style dim sum with six locations in Chicago and Chicagoland. This location is beautiful as others have commented. We appreciated they had the sweet and sour sauce found in Cantonese dim sum. Orders: Steamed salted egg yolk bun (6.5/10): filling wasn't as flavorful; not enough of the filling; the bun was a bit mushy. Honestly we could have gone to a supermarket, bought the buns and made the filling Siu Mai (8.5/10): in true Cantonese style, it has pork and shrimp. Came here for a Chinese food fix as my previous trips have been tasty. This time we didn't order dim sum for dinner. The scrambled eggs with shrimp and bitter melon was good. But the bbq pork rib was disappointing w soggy ribs and super bad cuts of meat. The service was often mediocre as with most Chinese restaurants. The main dining room was super hot when we went in and we had to request a new seat in the side dining room. In addition, all the seats in the main dining room room seem to be ripped and that made me very uncomfortable. Throughout the restaurant, all the tables and floors were super greasy. They are not amazing, but they're not bad either in the middle of Chicago downtown. Okay this place is stunning. The high ceiling decor is so unlike standard Chinese/dimsum restaurants and I am obsessed. I love that we can order off a tablet with pictures which made ordering super easy. The dishes apparels freshly steamed when ordered which I appreciate. The fried shrimp roll was delicious! There was much shrimp packed in the roll and it was perfectly salty and crunchy. I wasn't a huge fan of the scallion pancake because it had a more bun texture than crispy. First time at this location. I usually go to the location in the Loop but my friend suggested this location. This location is gorgeous. I was surprised with how high-end the decor was for this location. Definitely was much more glamorous than I anticipated. On this occasion I met some of girlfriends for dinner and drinks. We all enjoyed some sips. I had a mai tai and it was good. I wished there was more selections white wine. For appetizers we got crab rangoons and beef on a stick. Crab Rangoons were delicious. For food we ordered general tao chicken dish, beef lo mein, chicken fried rice and bok choy. It was plenty to feed four ladies and we even had leftovers. All in all it was a good experience. Summary: Decent dim sum in a convenient location for out of town visitors. I was in Chicago for a conference and this was a 10 minute walk from my hotel. I went with two colleagues and we ordered the hot and sour soup, turnip cakes, shrimp dumplings, crab meat and seaweed roll, siu mai, roasted duck, BBQ pork ribs, wood eared mushroom dumplings, mapo tofu, Chinese broccoli, stir fried beef noodles, and egg custard. Obviously this was waaaaay too much food for 3 people...it was enough food for 6+ but there were so many things we wanted to try. We ordered our food on a tablet and the food came out pretty quickly and was paced well. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Service was fine--nothing to write home about, but nothing negative. The total with a 20% tip came out to an incredibly reasonable $142. read more

It was very easy to find a spot for a very large group but unfortunately the service was extremely scattered: receiving menus took very long, and actually placing an order was confusing. The soup and rice service do not make sense (they will hand very small side bowls per person only if you ask) and for the quality of the food, this was overall a disappointing experience. Stopped by on a Sunday just before noon and our group of 2 was seated swiftly. The decorations really make you feel like you're in a lavish restaurant in China (iykyk). Order your tea of choice from the waitstaff (jasmine, pu-er, oolong, chrysanthemum, etc), select the dimsum on a tablet, and your food will come out on a cart. Got the preserved egg congee, hargow, spinach pork buns, soup dumplings, gai lan, and salted egg yolk buns. Everything was quite tasty. Soup dumplings had foil pan underneath, so the soup wasn't lost - flavor was quite good. Salted egg yolk buns weren't the best (not a very runny filling), but to be fair, good ones are hard to come by. Overall, food is 3.5/5, but atmosphere brings it to a 4/5. Overall, would recommend. Me and my friends went to Minghin cuisine to try their food during lunch as they have a 20% of deal on weekdays. We did a family style arrangement and it was well worth it. My favorites were the soup dumplings, and the potstickers, I would definitely recommend ordering if you go. The drinks are also a little strong so you better come prepared lol. read more

This is a great sit down place for dim Sum. We came here when it first open in the morning yesterday and were seated right away. We were given two tablets to order from. Therefore one of the tablet my boyfriend and I use, while the other tablet the kids used to order what they want to eat. We let the kids order what they want as long as they finish the food that they ordered. The food was good and the servers were quick and attentive. Unfortunately, this experience was a letdown. I ordered my usual go-to: the Walnut Shrimp with a side of Crab Rangoons. The Rangoons were fine, crispy a bit skimpy but a decent flavor, which is why I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1. But the shrimp dish was seriously disappointing. There was barely any sauce on the shrimp, which left the entire meal dry and bland, just plain fried shrimp and steamed broccoli with no flavor. It was nothing like the rich, creamy, well-balanced version I've come to love from the South Loop location. What made this worse was that I had been really looking forward to it. I debated between this and another dinner spot and was genuinely excited to enjoy MingHin again after being away for a while. Sadly, this missed the mark and honestly I would have done better on taste and price by just getting frozen Honey Walnut Shrimp from Trader Joe's.
