After all of my numerous visits to PCM, I finally stopped by Minero. Honestly I never thought to stop by because I have a few restaurants that I frequent at the food hall, but I was influenced by Yelp ATL's CM Erica's recent review. I ordered the crab dip, steak taco and a fried fish taco. We got our food to-go because we were attending an event at the O4W park. I placed my order and received a text when it was ready. First off, the tortilla chips were delicious!!! They're thin and seasoned to perfection. The crab dip was bomb!!!! Seriously, so good. It just needed a little sprinkle of Old Bay. I enjoyed the tacos as well. The steak was tender and seasoned well. They messed up on one of my friend's tacos, but she called and they credited it back to her card. The food was pricey, as to be expected in PCM but I enjoyed it and would recommend trying them out. read more

Visited Minero on a random Saturday night with my girlfriends and enjoyed ourselves. We were just on the hunt for some drinks after sushi and a Sephora run when we stumbled upon Minero. With most businesses at PCM closing, they stood out with guests strolling in and out despite the time. We were greeted and quickly seated and I was surprised to see a number of parties scattered about the slim corridor of seating options. We snagged a booth that was perfect for our party of 4. Because we weren't there for food, this review isn't focused on a full dinner experience. We did order the crab dip and the dip trio. All were delicious! It was super disappointing that chips and salsa weren't complimentary like we're used to, but I can imagine a long list of reasons why they wouldn't. The salsa was a touch sweeter than I like but the consistency was great, the queso was amazinggg and I'm not usually a cheese dip girly. For drinks, we all ordered different types of margaritas with me opting for the spicy margarita. Our drinks came out about 10 minutes later, freshly blended and garnished perfectly. Minero burrito steak bowl was good. Catfish tacos were good but missing flavor and a really good sauce. My fiancé ordered a kids cheese and steak quesadilla. It came huge, after eating we asked the waiter if it was a kids quesadilla he said no we told him we ordered a kids quesadilla, my fiancé even pointed to it and he basically lied and said oh I only heard quesadilla and we don't serve kids menu to adults, however that was clearly not communicated at the time of the order and instead of apologizing he just made excuses. Definitely a vibes place with some outdoor covered seating as well as indoor seating. Chips/salsa/guac were just classic and tasted fresh. Food came out pretty quickly. I got the al pastor burrito and I think the construction of it was not the best. It had a cheese skirt on the outside of it, but didn't really crisp up or had much flavor. The al pastor that I'm used to comes off a trompo and crisped up. This was more like carnitas and stringy and kinda dry. Most of the guac was at one end of the burrito so one half was dry and the other half was full of guac. Didn't have much flavor but was a huge burrito. They have an indoor and an outdoor situation so you can actually catch a breeze on a nice day or stay in and sit at the bar or any of the other tables as well. Quick Dinner for 2 We were headed to a show in the area and were looking for a good pre show dinner. We entered Ponce City Market, checked out a few of the food hall options and decided on Minero. Where was this Mexican place hiding? We had been to Ponce many times and I even surprised myself that I had never been here before, especially since I love Mexican food. We entered the restaurant and read the sign on the podium instructing us to wait to be seated. I could see the host walking towards us with menus in hand. He led us to a small table for two in the back. Our server quickly came by and dropped off water as we quickly reviewed the menu. There were plenty of good food and specialty drink options with about 10 different beer choices. When the server returned, we were ready to order because we were in a rush to eat before the show. Wifey and I both ordered the Pacifico beer and for food we both decided to go with a couple of tacos. Wifey ordered two Al Pastor pork tacos and I ordered one Ancho Chicken and one Al Pastor. The beers came out quickly and the food came out soon after, very fast. We started digging in, and I went for the pork taco first. It was delicious and tasted like the meat had been slow cooked for hours. The Ancho chicken was good too, with a little spicy kick, but the Al Pastor was my favorite of the two. One minor annoyance was there were a few gnats flying around, so we had to constantly cover our food and drinks. The table next to us also was waving and shooing the gnats. Overall, we really enjoyed our 1st trip to Minero. Our server was very attentive, and the atmosphere was nice with lively latin music playing in the background. Inside of the Ponce City Market, this restaurant with its killer margs, patio seating, and scrumptiously seasoned fare, is a jewel. The food items may seem few on the menu but the portions are so plentiful that even if there is only two amigas to share the Tres Amigos Sampler or you are the lone compadre at your table, this is the place you want to satiate your hunger. 3 Amigos Sampler: Their roja salsa is smoky, smooth, and so good-- the flavors burst onto your taste buds and hits every taste sensation. Pairs well with the seasoned chips. This salsa is great for you non-spice eaters or those prone to easy heartburn. The cheese is mildly spiced and held its liquid state very well even in the cooler weather of the outdoor patio. The guacamole is so fresh and creamy. And you really, cannot stop eating this, even after your food comes out. My friend had the burrito-- it's massive. It easily weighed 5 lbs and it had so much packed in-- she only ate 1/4th of it before packing it to go. I had the 5 cheese quesadilla and OMG it was like the best grilled cheese with steak. We both had XL frozen house margs which were so so so good. We had great service from a very attentive waiter. We were also able to spy on the food that was ordered by the table next to us. They ordered the wings and you get tableside shake&coat service. Amazing, the level of intentionality and detail that goes into your tasting experience. There was only one issue that I had from the whole experience and that was, unless you were directly in front of the host/hostess stand, they didn't "see" you. (The only reason we were far away from it is because we were standing near the "please wait to be seated" sign to allow passage for the ppl exiting the restaurant.) But this was easily remedied once we figured that out. And it's obvious from the rating above, that it didn't have much of an impact. If you are in the area, this is worth the parking fee. read more

Minero at Ponce City Market did not disappoint! We scored a beautiful day in Atlanta, and outdoor seating was the goal... it was perfect for people-watching (my favorite activity). The service was excellent, attentive without hovering, and our water glasses stayed full (a small thing, but it matters!). I started with the drink of the day: a spicy margarita that hit all the right notes. So good, I had to get another. (Yes, I was day drinking. No judgment!) For lunch, I went with the elote and three tacos: two catfish and one steak. The catfish tacos were flavorful with a great crunch.. my only wish was for just a bit more sauce. The steak taco? I forget sometimes that Ponce City Market has some solid food options. I was in an incredibly indecisive mood and Minero drew me in. Can you ever go wrong with tacos? I think not. I'm not sure what made me happier, the cocktail, the guac, or the stellar tortillas, but my tastebuds were doing a dance. The menu says tortillas are handmade fresh daily and I believe it! Not only were they delicious, but they did not crack and fall apart, which made me incredibly happy. I knew it was going to be a great meal when I took my first sip of the Piña Quemada cocktail that my server suggested. Perfection. On first sip, it reminded me of one of my favorite cocktails, the Pain Killer. Perhaps it was the charred pineapple juice. It's the type of cocktail you could put in a 32oz cup and sip on. You wouldn't remember the night, but you would be happy. I really wanted to try some of the other cocktails on the menu because they looked unique, but I decided to wait for my next visit. My tacos were really solid. I had the fried catfish and al pastor pork. The ingredients were incredibly fresh and I loved the green tomato tartar. Chef's kiss! I appreciated the option to add a small side of guac that was fresh, not the puréed kind. There is ample seating both inside and out. I had a very disappointing experience here, mainly due to the way we were treated by staff. We added our name to the waitlist during a very busy time at Ponce City Market, which is understandable given all the BeltLine activity. While waiting off to the side, we had beverages from another nearby vendor--something that is fairly common in this environment since multiple spots have bars. A busser approached us in a very rude and dismissive manner, telling us we needed to throw our drinks away. I completely understand that establishments may have policies about outside beverages, but the way this was communicated was unnecessarily harsh and unprofessional. When I asked to speak with a manager, Miranda, the response I received was even more disappointing. Instead of addressing the tone and situation respectfully, I was told, "at this point it's his word against yours and it's a legality issue," with no real effort to de-escalate or handle the situation with basic customer service. What made this more frustrating is that there were other guests nearby with drinks from other vendors who were not approached or spoken to in the same way. Again, I respect that businesses have rules--but how you speak to customers matters. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism from both the busser and management left a very negative impression. I would say of the two spots we tried today this was the best. Tacos had really good flavor and were done pretty quick! My only drawback was the two tacos I got were cold. And I mean literally. Like they were not warm at all. My friend said his fish taco was warm tho so I can't attest to that. Considering they were done in less than 5 min of us ordering i don't know why they weren't hot but oh well. The pastor taco was also very very greasy, I mean grease sliding across the Togo box when I lifted it out of there. Fun fact: Minero was the first sit-down dinner my husband and I had when we moved to Atlanta. Coming from LA, we were thrilled to find a solid Mexican restaurant right away (though we've since discovered that Atlanta has several pockets of amazing Mexican food!). The setup is casual--silverware is in buckets on the table, and paper towels are on rolls for you to use. That said, the service is always fantastic. The reason for three stars is simple, it wasn't bad but isn't great. Nice bar up front and service was good. They have beers and mixed drinks. The tacos were decent, pastor and cauliflower I got. Very nice establishment with a very unique tasting cuisine. Their chips and salsa have a secret seasoning according to our server. Nice seasoning with a salty yet tangy taste. Reminds you of Tajin. We ordered the Three Amigos Sampler (queso, guacamole and salsa). Pretty good portion size for 2 people. They also have a crab dip and chips which was savory and sweet with bits of corn and fresh crab with a cheese topping. Delish. Their spicy margarita was not very spicy but yummy nevertheless. Came here last night to sit outside on a nice night in Atlanta because I had a really good burrito bowl for takeout I remembered from a couple years ago. I will say that the experience is definitely better if you takeout vs. eat in, because unfortunately the service was pretty poor. Seems like this is a pretty common experience based on other reviews. I want to start by saying if I was just rating the food it would be a 4-4.5. The tacos were excellent. The quesadilla was the best looking quesadilla I've seen in a LONG time, and so full of chicken + veggies! Very hearty meal for $17. The salsa sampler was OK overall but the Salsa Benne was a standout and we asked for more. It's more of a creamy salsa than what you would typically picture with salsa. Chips seemed freshly made and were well seasoned. Where Minero didn't hold up to my expectations was the service. I started out with a glass of water that had clearly been used and not washed/not washed well enough, as there were clear lip + lipstick marks on various edges of the glass. When I asked one of the staff outside if I could get a new glass, she rolled her eyes but thankfully went to get me a new one from inside. Our server never filled our waters again after I got the new glass, and we had to ask 3 times for more chips, yet he acted like we had never asked each time. Ordered the cheese dip as an appetizer: exceptional cheese dip. Scarlet Bean quesadilla as an entree: really good, especially with some cheese dip on it. Those were the biggest beans I've ever seen!
