Good food, but don't accept offers for fries. They're four dollars and not included with your meal. (And definitely not worth it.) Waitress casually asked me and my friend "fries?" with our sandwich in an offhand way like "are fries okay or should I substitute something else?" and next thing we know we owe 8 dollars for fries we didn't even really want. Minella's is good. So good in fact, we drive out of the city and past numerous other diners to eat there. I work nearby so it isn't all that far most of the time. Even when they're packed you sit fast, the service is great, and most importantly the food is always delicious. I've never had anything from them I didn't thoroughly enjoy. And come on...disco fries. First of all, I pulled into the parking lot, trying to find a space, and a moron in a minivan flew from the other side and nearly t-boned me. But I've come to know that most people on the Main Line have a false sense of superiority. I ask for a table from what looks to be a bratty, apathetic teenage girl. She neither smiled nor made eye contact with me. And she spoke so softly that I had a hard time hearing her with the hustle and bustle of the kitchen nearby. I see a man give me a passing glance and grab a menu, but the hostess does not tell me to follow him. Thank goodness my instinct to do so did because he sat me at a table but just walked away. My server was very polite and nice, but it seemed forced and bare minimum. My food was sub par. I got a breakfast sandwich with an order of home fries and everything was out promptly and tasted fine. Nothing spectacular. I went to pay for my food, and again this hostess did not look at me, did not ask me if everything came out okay. I practically had to pry out of her if I could leave a tip on my card, to which she replied under her breath with an exasperated "yes". Then when I left there was no smile, no thank you, no have a good day. The diner wasn't even that busy! You know, sweetheart, you'll catch more flies with honey. I live on the main line and have been there for years, but this bill made me changed my mind about Minella's, regardless of the nice service. I put the bill picture on my profile picture, I don't want to ruin someone else's appetites. And yelp may remove my post, but I really do want people to know that it is totally outrages to charge me for a single fried egg for $4. The waitress said that the fries are free whether I wanted it or not. I eat low carb meal so I didn't order it, but I did order bacon on the side. I complained to the owner, and he said that if I wanted one single egg without anything else on the plate then it is $3!!! OK. It must have come from a golden goose then! read more

Food was just the way we wanted it and Nichole was just fine and handled our special requests as a good server should. Guess car guy Alex came in with a chip on his paint and needed to be burped a bit. Typical diner fair with lots of choices. i went to minella's diner for dinner tonight ONLY because my 2 friends like it there. I was there about 2 months ago and my dinner was terrible and everyone else's dinner at the table looked very unappetizing. My friend wanted to go back tonight because it's convenient, so I gave it another try (somewhat unwillingly). This place has mastered the use of "fillers" in their food. This time it was the chicken croquettes (last time it was stuffed crabmeat). When you put a fork in a chicken croquette it should be soft. At minella's, it's hard as a rock filled with something other than chicken. They don't appear to be using fresh food and cheapen everything with these fillers. My mother ordered a shrimp salad that came out with tons of mayonaisse and some shrimp underneath. Just disgusting. There was 3 other people eating dinner at the table and they didn't even serve rolls. The last time I was there I ordered their special that was supposed to have crabmeat. Again as mentioned above, I don't think there was one piece of real crabmeat, just a total mix of fillers that was terrible. This time I said something to the manager who was working the bakery dept. His response "Oh so the shrimp salad had to much mayo and the chicken croquettes were hard". Nothing else. Any professional would have asked if they could do anything to make things right. Somehow, I felt he heard complaints before about their food and just is trained to "do nothing". If you go to minella's, order something like eggs or something very simple like peanut butter and jelly. Their bakery is good, but the food chef is dreadful and the fact that they are not using fresh ingredients really bothers me. I'd love for Gordon Ramsey to visit this place and cut into the chicken croquettes on national television. That would truly expose this restaurant for what it is.....terrible! read more

I have been coming to Minella's since the late 1990's. Typical diner food, open 24-7 which is convenient. Minella's is generally as packed as it is because there really is no other diner in the area. I come to Minella's almost every Saturday with my Grandmother. I always deal with the same host who always seems to have an attitude. Today was the last straw. My Grandmother turned 100 so I took her to lunch at her favorite place, Minella's. We were excited and told the host it was her 100th when we came in. We also mentioned it to our waitress. Nothing! No one ever bothered to congratulate her. In the past, wait staff has acted put out when she asked for a refill on her coffee or some more water. I've tolerated it because it is quick, convenient and consistent but after today I will never go back! Go if you must but if you're looking for a neighborhood diner where people will take the time to get to know their loyal customers, you'll probably have better luck at an IHOP. read more

The last time I was here, I was here for a casual birthday dinner with my friend. I ordered a cheesecake (which included a strawberry on top) for dessert. After I've already eaten half of the strawberry, I see a maggot between the strawberry and cheesecake. I told the server, and they did absolutely nothing or apologize. I eat here quite a bit (lots of morning appointments). So my view is from the breakfast angle...and Minella's is consistently good, but not great. The pricing is a bit high. The service is good once you get your waiter or waitress - but the hosting is abysmal. They look at you and don't even acknowledge you, and then ask "how many", and then if all your party is not there yet they grunt like you have inconvenienced them by taking up a table for four with just three people. This happens every time. On the positive side, the omelets are tasty and decently proportioned and you can substitute your sides pretty easily. But don't stay too long or you will get the impression that you are taking up precious business space and you better get a move on! read more

The food here is descent diner food. I have been coming here for years with no significant complaints other than about the service. The wait staff is pleasant but unavoidable encounters with the host and owner are regrettable. Even as a semi regular patron I have been denied a table if dinning alone for a quick bite or if my plus one hadn't arrived no matter if the place was empty. This seems ridiculous considering that I could have just as well purchased something while I wait. Being told to wait in the rain while my friend arrives is the last straw. Minellas is a perfect little spot for college students and families alike. I frequented this diner throughtout my four years of living in Wayne. The menu is extensive and affordable. Seating is almost always available and the staff is very kind. Minellas is open 24 hours a day, which makes it a perfect stop for those 2:00 AM study breaks during finals week. While the food is not gourmet by any means, the portions are very generous and you can never run out of options. Be sure to order an omelette when you visit Minellas; they're heavenly :-) I always enjoyed ordering their avocado and crab meat omelette; its absolutely delicious. read more

Minella's is top notch. Despite the fact that it's always packed, they get you seated really quickly. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. At brunch, the service is amazingly fast. You sit, they come and get your drink order right away. They bring drinks, take your order and you have food in front of you in less than 10 minutes. I don't understand how they are so fast!! Also, the service isn't compromised at all by the speed in which they work. The servers are super attentive and on point. Things are slightly more relaxed if you go for dinner or lunch- you don't feel rushed by any means. The food is great. Everything I've ever had there is excellent. I go to Minella's on most weekends. The food is always good and the diner is very clean. The only problem that I have is the attitude of the owners who are truly "miserable" on every occasion that I have been there. Some days, I can be seated without my brother present and on others, I have to wait, even though there is no one in the particular dining room where I want to sit. I always get a lot of attitude when I ask to sit in the large dining room. Once, I wanted to compliment an excellent server and spoke with the female owner of the restaurant. Instead of thanking me for my comments, she responded "all of our waitresses are great". As far as personality, that statement is not true. Our waitress had been exceptional in service, as well as very friendly. I continue to go on Sundays because the diner is equi-distant for me and my brother.
