This is not a surface-level, small store where they display a tiny collection. They have almost everything. I think that's the most important thing you need to know about this place. I did notice the retro consoles and games like the SNES are priced quite steeply here. They are rare to come by in Northern Virginia, so I'd expect that.

I immediately fell upset because 1. I didn't inspect it prior to buying it (part my fault) and secondly, staff didn't inspect the product prior to bagging either. 3. Trying to catch a restock, in today's climate is extremely rough when you have a day job and or lack reliable inside scoop to vendors restock schedules etc. Makes finding any ETBs scarce at close to MSRP ($49.99). So giving this rating was hard because overall I appreciate this LCS (local card shop) for giving their customers a chance to own new release products for TRUE MSRP prices over Target etc.

Toy Trains! Model Kits! And all the other art sets, car tracks, European and Japanese toys and "Stuff." You know how a modern store just has people behind the counter? Hobby Works has staff walking the floor to help you. And they really help. And they know their stuff. And when you're there, it's got that friendly clubhouse atmosphere like you stopped off here while walking home from school in the 6th grade. Sometimes it feels like with online shopping, kids won't ever experience the friendly local stores like we did. Not while Hobby Works is open, it's all modern, but it's a shopping experience that most stores lost over the years- and our kids deserve to experience that friendliness.

In addition to the various hobby shop related wares - there are lots of neat little bits to the store - a miniature old school pinball machine; a little red wooden wagon mounted on the wall; upstairs on a door - a sign that painted with the words: "The Speakeasy," harkening back to an earlier time when a previous business conducted wine tastings and such upstairs at this location. Lots of RC cars and planes too. I found a model just like my old 66 Ford F150, Old Blue!! The folks there are helpful, extremely knowledgeable and nice to deal with. We'll definitely be back. ~
