Not far from Winchester airport, and the downtown area, this is a fun place. Family friendly, as very nice folks, who enjoy a good race. Stock car is my favorite, and this mud track is entertaining. It's rustic but that makes it even better. All of the staff who work here are great. Tickets are affordable, and concessions are very reasonable. As a single dad I appreciate this. Best spot is grandstand under the announcers box. Lots of shade hot summer nights. It's a joy to be back here, and ready for some fast cars close to each other!

I imagined that it would be similar to the driving schools of the past, and as a race car driver, I was skeptical. I took the class and I was so glad I did. Not only do they teach you new driving fundamentals that the books don't teach you, the skills they teach you can be expanded upon beyond the road and onto the track. I never put two and two together on how drastically your basic driving skills affect your track racing skills before this. HIGHLY recommended. I would take it again in a second, was so much fun! I especially enjoyed the obstacle course and the challenge of controlling the skid car.

Prior to living in the area I had never been to a horse race. The staff was helpful in explaining how the betting worked. It was fun to pick a horse and watch the races and possibly/hopefully win a few dollars. They have live TVs inside to watch the races as well as a nice, large outdoor area to watch - right up against the track! We've also gone up to place bets on the big races (Derby, Preakness and Belmont). We're not big gamblers but it's fun every once in a while. And watching the horses is pretty cool. Kids are welcome in the outdoor area, too.

However, the track is very slick; the prep they put down isn't enough for more high powered cars to get good traction. One of our crew guys tested the track with his shoe to see how sticky it was, and all the prep came up with it and stuck to the bottom of his boot. Not good. Our car spun every single time trying to get down the track. Good place to go with a street car, but not so much anything else.

The pricing: We did axe throwing for the option of 1.5hrs (which was about $33 per person) and go karting. In my opinion, they should really have the option of purchasing one race, which is approximately nine laps. However, this isn't the case. They apparently only do packaged races. The option we selected was three races, which was about $54 per person. Supposedly, if you don't use all your races in one visit, you will still have access to the remaining races whenever (no time limit) you go back (I will have to confirm this at a later date). For the go karting, you are required to purchase their annual speedway license which was approximately $8. The activities: Axe throwing was a great time. Our demonstrator/trainer as very interactive and got straight to the point, which we appreciated. He detailed the safety requirements, gave recommendations for how to throw the axe, and gave a handful of games for us to play while axe throwing. The go karting was such a good time. Got to drive like my inner speedy, while feeling safe enough to do it. I would definitely recommend this for an interactive date night, sibling outing, coworker bonding session... Essentially, any styled outing that desires a good time with some friendly competition. I will definitely be back to collect my remaining two races.
