So, when we were wandering in Old Town Winchester the other day and there was a winter scene in the window of this store, I knew we were going in. The front room was full of cards and gifts. One section had Christmas items on clearance such as ornaments, napkins, teapots and plates. Right in back of that were similar items for every holiday you can imagine. In the second room there were lots of stuffed animals, infant toys and toddler items. My son was fascinated by a rattle that had a grip on one end and a plush baseball on the other. In the back room was the train stuff. Tiny trains, cabooses, tracks, model homes and miniature trees. There were also books on trains as well as t-shirts and hats. After this trip, we've decided to build a model train set in our house once our kid is old enough!

Shen-Valley Flea Market

This is an interesting flea market. We went on a Saturday morning. Admission is free and there is…read morea decent parking lot and clean rest room facilities. There were over a hundred dealers set up with a mixture local produce, baked goods, antiques, household goods and junk. In addition, there are about 6-7 food trucks serving tacos, smoothies and fair type foods. There is an indoor market with specialty dealers. We arrived early and filled the car with treasures. The local produce was really nice with decent prices. I picked up a delicious cantaloupe. I also bought some flowers. Most of the dealers were interesting and friendly. It took about 90 minutes to go through everything. The walk ways are uneven, I tripped at least once, so be careful. Pets are not allowed (but I saw several dogs). All the dealers I talked with were cash only sales.

The people at the outdoor stalls are typical flea market folks, they have all kinds of items, some people are helpful others are just there to make a sale. There's a little bit of old and new stuff. They have several interesting and somewhat unique elements that I've not encountered at other hobby shops: (1) They have constructed a steep rock adorned grade to radio controlled cars and trucks to attempt to navigate; (2) They have a long dedicated drag strip for side-by-side drag strip racing; (3) There is a large oval slot car track in the back for slot car racing. Not sure what the size/gauge cars the track is for. It's clearly for larger than AFC style/size cars. Looked to see what they had in the way of O-gauge train cars.
