There's everything from comic books and figures to games from Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Warhammer, and anything else you can think of. Some comic books are cheaper than on Amazon. I bought some on Amazon as gifts, only to realize after that, this place has them cheaper! I was just browsing and didn't have any questions or requests from the staff, but based on interactions with others, they know their stuff. This is not a surface-level, small store where they display a tiny collection. They have almost everything. I think that's the most important thing you need to know about this place. I did notice the retro consoles and games like the SNES are priced quite steeply here. They are rare to come by in Northern Virginia, so I'd expect that.

In addition to the various hobby shop related wares - there are lots of neat little bits to the store - a miniature old school pinball machine; a little red wooden wagon mounted on the wall; upstairs on a door - a sign that painted with the words: "The Speakeasy," harkening back to an earlier time when a previous business conducted wine tastings and such upstairs at this location. Toy Trains! Model Kits! And all the other art sets, car tracks, European and Japanese toys and "Stuff." You know how a modern store just has people behind the counter? Hobby Works has staff walking the floor to help you. And they really help. And they know their stuff. And when you're there, it's got that friendly clubhouse atmosphere like you stopped off here while walking home from school in the 6th grade. Sometimes it feels like with online shopping, kids won't ever experience the friendly local stores like we did. Not while Hobby Works is open, it's all modern, but it's a shopping experience that most stores lost over the years- and our kids deserve to experience that friendliness.
