I had a very bad first ( and only) experience at Mina's and as I look back I feel completely cheated out of $60+. First of all, my stylist greeted me and immediately yarned in my face. She laughed it off rudely and rushed me to a chair. I was then treated in an abrupt manner, no polite exchanges or interest in the me as a paying client, no offer of coffee or water. My hair was washed fast and I was handled with zero respect and the hair cut was fast and only with a razor which I had not asked for- I felt like a car at the car wash. My stylist talked to her coworker the entire time. Nothing pampering about the experience at all. I have never experienced anything like this. I NEVER write reviews but I just had to... Do not bother wasting your money, time or self respect. read more

I used to get my hair cut at Mina's by a great hairstylist named Heather, and was never disappointed with my hair cut, but was disappointed that her fee kept increasing. It started at $30 and was quickly up to $45 in the 2 years that I saw her. If you can fork over the cash, I would recommend going here, especially if you're new to the area and need a nice hair cut. If you have the time (and the courage) to try a few places, you might want to skip Mina's as they tend to be the most expensive in the area. read more

Seriously livid right now. Had appt for a spiral perm and ask Martha the stylist 3 times could she do it ? Yes is her reply . Did I get it ? ( absolutely not) got a basic perm. Not even a decent one. When I said I did not get what I ask for , the receptionist replied , I don't know what to tell you... the only thing that they got correct was the price they quoted me ... 130.00 . I have never left a public complaint about a place, but this is worth my time to keep other people from spending far too much money for subpar services. I scheduled a haircut and facial at Mina's after seeing them ranked on Indy's best in the triangle. The cut was fine, nothing amazing or detrimental to the experience (I only ask for a clean-up of my ends, so not much could go wrong). My facial was scheduled for 30 minutes after my cut finished. I was told that my facialist was just finishing setting up and it'd be any minute when the appointment was already 15 minutes late starting. Well, just under an hour went by and finally i was called back. Being an hour late was annoying, but i wasn't going to show agitation and let it spoil my experience. I had scheduled the most expensive procedure, so I knew i'd have a good amount of time to relax and ease away this stress. My facial felt rushed as if she was trying to make up on time for another client. The longest part was letting the mask dry on my face, which she just sat there doing nothing the whole time. When I had a facial at the Grove Park Resort, my facialist massaged the tension in my neck, shoulders, arms, hands and head. Although it was listed as a part of the relaxation and part of the facial at Mina's, this was not part of mine, which is a big part of a facial to me (especially feeling stressed at losing an hour of my day sitting and waiting and then being rushed while i was spending so much money). I was so disappointed and initially thought I'd found a great place to start going regularly. Now, i know that is definitely not the case. read more

I was pretty satisfied with my first visit to Mina's--until I went to pay the bill. I was charged nearly twice the price I had been quoted. If you schedule an appointment here, make sure you get the *full and final* total before you commit. My regular hairdresser was "on leave" for family reasons, so I looked around and read very good things about Mina's. I called and asked for the price of a coloring. I was told that the price differed according to expertise level, so I asked for a certain level. I was given a price, which I twice asked them to confirm. I emphasize that the only "ranking" and "starting price" was for the LEVEL of stylist--NOT for the hair treatment. I had to subsequently call twice because of some schedule conflicts, and each time, I re-confirmed the price. The stylist was fine, and she did good work. But when I went to pay, the price had nearly doubled, and I was quite jolted; I told them what I had been quoted. First, I was told, she had had to use extra color, and they said the **starting** price was what they had quoted but that it could increase for "added expenses." I told them they had never said this; they only said the **starting** price related to the expertise of the stylist. Second, I was told that the blow dry itself was $35.00. They had never mentioned this on the phone, even though I'd confirmed the price several times. For a long-established business, this kind of misleading information is inexcusable. And it is unethical. So, buyer beware. Get your price in writing. read more

He is always up on the trends and seems to constantly be upping his game. Being new to the NC-Triangle area, I was getting a bit desparate to find someone to color my hair and give me a much-needed pedicure (my sandals were starting to revolt by hiding behind my closed-toed boots in the closet). So, purely based on its location I decided to give Mina's a try. It's a busy place. It's not cheap, either, but you definitely get what you pay for. Mariana gives fantastic mani/pedi's and she is very skilled at ingrowns. Enrique is a wonderful colorist and haircutter, and he doesn't try to oversell. An extensive line of Aveda, Bumble&Bumble and Dermalogica. I want to try the facials there; the spa area looks pretty sweet. If you want to try a new look, this is the place to go. read more

Kati is a great esthetician!!! Best bikini wax I've ever had (least painful that is!). They use hard wax vs soft wax for the bikini which doesn't stick to the skin! More expensive than your typical nail salon wax but more sanitary conditions and less painful! I'll pay the extra! Cash/check for tips though...can't put on the card which can be a pain! read more

This was my first and last time at Mina's. While the staff was very friendly, my hair cut was horrible. I still had split ends and my layers look like I got my hair chopped and then some hair underneath. I was growing my hair out and now I have to take two steps back to make it look somewhat decent. I also got color done and the color started fading after two weeks. It's been a month and I have bleach blonde streaks in my brown hair. I look like a skunk. When I called to talk to someone at Mina's about this, they said my two week period for a free fix was over, but I could have a free consult. A great experience! I walked in with a bad grown out cut and brassy color and walked out a whole new person. Tony was amazing and fixed it all with a beautiful color and cut. I highly recommend him. The salon is in a convenient location with a clean, professional and relaxing atmosphere. The pricing is what every salon charges in the area and offers many other services. After today, I would be interested in trying them. I especially liked the option to make an online appointment with a quick reply to my request. The receptionist was also lovely and made me feel welcome and comfortable. After trying quite a few salons in the area, this one shines through and I look forward to going back. read more

I have been to Karen twice now and have not been disappointed. She spent as much time with me as I needed, including showing me how to curl and pin my hair at home. She was personable and professional, making me feel like I've known her for years. Karen is up to date with trends, understands what I want, and confident in her excellent work. I love going to see her! I cannot agree with the negative reviews here. My experience with Karen has been totally opposite. Terrible experience!!! I treated myself to a blowout here before a friend's wedding. The stylist washed my hair without using any conditioner and asked me later if my hair is always super tangly (it isn't). The end result of my blowout looked no better than I can do at home, but worse than that, my hair was so tangled and knotted that I couldn't run my hands through it, let alone a brush. I called to complain immediately and was told that they have a no refunds policy. They did offer to see me again, but I didn't have any more time before the wedding. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she would call me on Tuesday. She didn't, so I tried to reach her again. The receptionist wouldn't connect me with the manager but repeated the message that they never do refunds but could give me a credit to come back (they knew I live 5 hours away). So I paid $38 to get a bunch of knots in my hair and they were unwilling to do anything meaningful to make it better! I would say stay away! read more

Mina's studio has taken a turn for the worse. After several years of good service, I went to Alejandra for a cut. I have long hair and asked her to cut it to my bra strap well below the shoulders. About 2 inches. The stylist apparently was too distracted by conversation with another stylist and didn't listen. She cut it to my shoulders. The length is wrong and the cut was poor. During the cut, she repeatedly yanked on my neck causing me pain. At the end of the cut, she asked me how I liked it and I politely said it was too short and not what I asked for. Instead of apologizing, she made an excuse and walked away. I'd be very cautious about returning. This was poor service for a very long-term client. read more

Junior stylist didn't do much layering (though I requested it multiple times while she was cutting) and finished in a ridiculously short amount of time. It didn't look great and has grown out worse. So...I hate to have to post a negative review because I go to Mina's regularly for haircuts (with Sam, who is great!) but my experience with this studio for my wedding hair/makeup was disappointing. I exchanged several emails with Louise, their bridal coordinator, earlier this year. She was polite and helpful, though not always super timely with responses to my questions. I set up my trial hair and makeup for the day of my bridal shower, on a Sunday at 12pm, which is when the studio opens. Enrique did not show up to do my hair until around 12:30. Granted, he did a fabulous job, but I literally just sat in the waiting area for 30 minutes. By the time hair was done and makeup started, it was 1:15ish. I ended up being nearly late to my own bridal shower because of this. If I hadn't done the trial one month before the wedding, I would've picked a different salon based on this nonsense alone. Additionally, you will pay for your hair and makeup trial - which is fine, it clearly states this on the website. It came out to about $175 though, just FYI. I will say that Louise took 10% off each person's service for hair/makeup for the wedding because of the trial debacle, which was nice. The main reason I am disappointed with Mina's though, is the day of my wedding, hair and makeup was to start at 9am. I had sent the mother's and grandmother to our venue where Mina's was traveling to and instructed them to be ready by 9am. Enrique didn't show up until around 9:30am, and hair didn't roll in until 11:30/12. It was particularly frustrating & stressful to not know if/when they were going to come. I couldn't get ahold of anyone at the studio since it was a Sunday and the studio wasn't open until noon. Granted, hair and makeup still got done for everyone with plenty of time to spare before the wedding, and everyone looked phenomenal - but still, punctuality is not their strong suit. Overall, I would not recommend this studio for bridal hair and makeup. read more

Here's the thing. I LOVE MOLLY!!! She is just an awesome esthetician and wonderful person. But the front desk is sooooo rude!! I just went to get my eyebrows done the other day and they were clearly laughing at me together...even another woman noticed it (It's hilarious cause none of the people at the front desk have the looks and personality deserving of such a condescending attitude). The manager needs to make it clear to the staff that just because they're a high-end spa, doesn't mean they have to be dismissive. Class means acting politely! What a concept! read more

They did me a favor when they asked me to pay for an appointment I missed because they had entered it in the appointment book incorrectly. I want to like this place. It's super convenient for me. However, I've had multiple negative experiences and won't be returning. I always feel rushed through and as if what I'm asking for goes straight into a vacuum, completely unheard. The stylist actually has a habit of doing the opposite of what I ask for. I can't speak for the rest of the stylists at Mina's, but Lane is fantastic. I'm relatively new to Raleigh, and have been searching for a stylist high and low. I've found a few that were alright, but nobody won my loyalty until I met Lane. I have lots of thin, dry hair that won't play nice due to a persistent thyroid problem. Lane manages to color and cut my hair so that it looks full and shiny. Even if I don't know what I want to do that day, he's ready with suggestions...and honest with me if the look I'm considering won't suit me. Love Mina's and Lane! read more

Had an appointment on 3/21 for hair and makeup for my son's wedding--first trip to the salon. I was booked with Gabi and I thought she was fantastic. My hair came out beautifully and my makeup did too. Was it pricey? Yes. Was it worth it? Heck yes. The point of having a service like this is to get what you couldn't possibly have pulled off yourself, and that is exactly what I did. it's 2 days later and I still look like a beauty queen! (Okay, an older beauty queen....but it's my fantasy, let me have it.) Points for new/out of towners: This salon has the highest end products for hair and they aren't shy with using them. Huge Bonus. Makeup selection was varied and on trend. Had false eyelashes applied and they were beautiful. The receptionist managed my return taxi to the hotel and was very pleasant the whole time. Don't think twice-book your event hair/makeup appointment here and breathe easy. read more

This place is great. My mom has a degenerative brain disease. She needs some extra attention in service. Some places pretend like they like my mom, but you can tell they are really annoyed. This place treats my mom so well. I feel comfortable dropping her off. She always comes back with a fantastic hair cut and color. She always comes out smiling. After a long search, I am so happy to have found someone who can give me the haircut I always tried to get hairstylists to give me (with no luck). So far, the overall salon experience has been fine. I love the setup of this place but would never go back because of the poor front desk staff. I came in a couple weekends ago and one of the front desk women appeared intoxicated and was very inattentive and rude. My wife and I believe that customer service overrules everything else that a business has to offer. Our appointments were screwed up and I spoke to the front desk manager about it the next week but saw the same lady working yesterday when I came for a walk in so I turned around and left. They obviously don't take customer service seriously and with the prices they are charging, customer service should be the LEAST of problems. Do not go to Mina's Studio! I only went to get feather extensions put in my hair and the stylist acted like she didn't have time for me to pick out the colors I wanted and said she only had seven minutes. So I picked out one feather and I was trying to determine the yellow feather I wanted and she took the feathers away and just cut whatever yellow feather she wanted to. I was rushed through the entire process. She was rude and was no help in determining where I should put the feathers. The stylist had another client and ran off to get another girl to put the feathers in. The second girl was nice but an hour after I left the feathers came out of my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my first time going their and I will never go back! If they can't put feathers in right how can they cut and color hair? The only reason I went to the salon is because they were open on Sunday and had the feathers in stock. Don't go to Mina's Studio! read more

I have used Mina's in the past for Keratin treatments and have also had a haircut by Alejandra both of which I was very pleased with. Due to a cancellation with my normal hairdresser I took a last minute appointment with Mary Credendino for a base color and cut. I had the formula for the color from my original hairdresser and I asked simply for a trim of about 2" with some long layers in the back. I had hair to my mid back upon entering the salon. The color was not disastrous but much too dark compared to my regular hair color and too dark for my complexion. The haircut is the worst cut I have ever had in my life. First of all the 2" trim ended up being more like a 8" cut and on top of that there is a myriad of choppy uneven layers through my hair that make no sense at all. I doubt that I have 2 strands of hair that are the same length anymore. The layers start at chin length and traverse my entire hair. There are long strands next to short strands, truly I have no idea what this cut is supposed to be, a bad 1990's Jennifer Anniston meets John Bon Jovi perhaps? It is most definitely NOT what I asked for. A truly atrocious hair dresser who claims to have 30 years worth of experience. I will not be returning to the salon. read more

I went to Mina's for several years because I loved the nail technician but she was forced to leave. I also went to one of the owners for my hair care because I assumed that she would be one of the best. But she was more interested in other conversations going on in the salon and really began to just not listen to what I needed with my hair. Then they began to have someone else do various parts of my treatment whether it was actually applying the color mix, or blow drying...but that was not what I asked for...getting bangs when I did not want them but opps, too late, the bangs were cut without really asking me...more like, this is what I was getting... I want one person as a stylist to work with rather than not knowing who would do what part which is the point of developing customer loyalty. At Mina's prices, I asked for a specific stylist and while I expected that stylist would do my hair, I didn't know what I would get. I even switched to another stylist finally in hopes that she would actually be the one to consistently work with my hair and she was wonderful but sadly left not long after I switched to her. I gave up and started going to the Aveda School Salon in Chapel Hill, figuring that if I never knew who I would have for a stylists, then I at least should not pay premium prices and the Aveda School Salon was VERY inexpensive for a great product...and at least I knew to expect someone new each time but they did listen very closely to what I wanted. read more
