Salmon Bowl
Masumi T.

Came here after yoga down the block. The interior is well lit, clean with nice employees. Great for a quick, cheap filling meal. I had the salmon bowl which was topped with seaweed, cabbage, avocado, edamame and rice on the bottom. The rice was surprisingly good. There was a good portion of salmon which was marinated in sauce but the meal came with a variety of sauces as well - soy, tonkatsu sauce, ponzu, spicy mayo, and sesame dressing. I would come back.

Second time here for a sit-down meal, because it is one of the not-crowded places in St Marks. The flavors are there, and while nothing stands out, there isn't much to complain about, food-wise. The spicy salmon roll with 8 pieces was very good, as was Rozena's spicy tuna bowl (packed with cabbages!). I do wish more care were taken toward making the place look more vibrant; the sit-down experience ends up being sub-par, considering the service is barebones as well (no glass of water was served, for instance). Perhaps, they market themselves more as a to-go place, which is what I think Min Sushi is best for, anyway.

Came here exhausted after a long day of work. Totally revived me. Great deal with the udon soup + four piece roll, and I got the seaweed as an extra treat. Yummy and quiet

I ordered the Spicy Tuna Don and Udon set. The Udon tasted light and flavorful and the Tuna Don tasted fresh. Also, each portion was enough to be its own meal. The lady who took my order was super appreciative of me stopping by to check it out and packed everything with care. This place is so so worth it. I will definitely be back!

Beef Udon 8 Piece Salmon Cucumber Roll

I took out salmon & cucumber sushi and beef udon. Both delicious and generous in portion relative to price. Especially impressed by the beef udon which has a deep broth perfect for a cold winter day. I went because I love Suki and this new spot is just at fantastic, living up to their great standards!!

The broth was so delicious!

My rolls were fresh. Beef Udon OMG! There was a lot of beef for the price and the BOMB was a very healthy tasty soup.

Sad lonly me

Completely got my order wrong and refused to exchange it or refused to give a refund , very unprofessional and felt robbed , gave attitude. Wont be back here ever, i felt so disrespected and disappointed that the fact that they ignored my exchange request and just said "itll be a waste of food to exchange" as if im in the wrong . I really hate giving bad reviews but this in particular was unacceptable sorry. (For those wondering i orderd a beef udon soup bowl and they gave me a kyodon rice bowl)

Spicy Tuna Bowl

Had a shrimp tempura roll and it was tasteless and Product also tasted "old". Don't recommend.

Awful service (with attitude), ridiculous wait for dry sushi and little to no condiments. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

I love it here! Will definitely keep coming back, just for their (excellent) service alone. Highly recommend.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

A lot of the items didn't feel heavy which is always a plus with Izakayas, and allowed us to order and try even more items on the menu. Since the restaurant was very busy and had a wait from the moment we entered and left, this is definitely a restaurant you'd spend 1 - 1.5 hr max at with the high table turnover (so avoid if you want a quiet date night). Overall, Izakaya Mew has been a reliable staple for years and will likely continue to be with its great food quality and lively ambiance. (4.5/5)
