Saag paneer was so FRESH tasting it was crazy like I havent had one like this before. Fresh in the sense that it wasnt as creamy and you really tasted the fresh spinach which I liked a lot. Butter chicken was pretty good just a classic flavor Also had the Lasuni Gobi cauliflower which was AWESOME. The sauce was a little spicy, couldve been spicier, but flavor was so good. Naan here was decent, couldve used more garlic but it was fluffy. read more

Great place to pick up some fresh sushi rolls before heading out and enjoying a day on the water! Fish is fresh, rice and seaweed stay crisp, service is friendly and interior is clean. Price is a little bit expensive for the portion you get, but definitely worth trying! FOOD: Salmon + avocado roll (7/10) - Solid fish to rice ratio and definitely very fresh! read more

Sushi Counter is a quick grab-and-go spot for sushi rolls! There are various popular rolls to choose from. The service was quick and efficient, which matched the quieter ambiance we encountered there. My friends and I got three hand rolls for $12! Specifically Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Salmon, and Sunshine. The hand rolls were pretty solid and form. I thought the Shrimp Tempura paired well with the spicy chili mayo sauce and soy sauce. My friends felt that the Sunshine and Spicy Salmon tasted similar, even though the former was supposed to have a teriyaki glaze. I think this is a solid spot to grab a quick snack on the go. I would come back if I was in the area again! read more

Inconsistent service Seems unsanitary - cashier didn't wash her hands after touching the register, before grabbing packages of sauce/wasabi packets and adding them to the bag pressed up against the sushi rolls prepared with gloved hands Not a good value - more rice than sushi Think she overcharged, check your bill read more

Pleasantly surprised how good these rolls are! Very thick and good price. This location had a constant stream of customers when I went, so they must not be sitting out too long. I appreciate the spicy rolls actually having a little kick in them as well. read more

I got 2 salmon rolls, 1 spicy tuna, and 1 miso soup. I was disappointed by the rolls. I couldn't taste anything except for the rice and it was a bit too sweet for my preference. The soy sauce and the miso soups were also extremely mild and lack flavors. The staff were friendly and overall things were reasonably priced. I still ate everything, but don't see myself returning. read more

Amazing spot for a quick, affordable meal near Washington Square Park in the West Village! You get 3 rolls for $12, and they offer monthly specials. This month, I tried the Firecracker roll (an extra $1), which had shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. I also got two of the regular options--tempura shrimp and spicy tuna rolls. As always, they were delicious and perfect for a grab-and-go meal, especially if you're in a hurry. The rolls come with cute fish-shaped soy sauce packets, plus ginger and wasabi. The only thing I wish they had was a few small tables outside, but given the grab-and-go style, it's understandable. These rolls are gluten-free and the quality is amazing for the price, especially in Manhattan. Definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Delicious Australian sushi! Quick, cheap, and tasty. 3 rolls for 12$ is pretty hard to beat! Tried the salmon roll, spicy tuna, and the shrimp tempura rolls! My favorite was the spicy tuna, followed by the salmon roll. Tempura was a bit soggy from sitting in the rice, but I was kind of expecting this. Flavor-wise still good. I love the little fish soy sauce squeeze bottles-- so cute! Will definitely be returning! read more

This was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC. This place combines such amazing flavor at a very reasonable cost and with friendly service. We got a wide variety of hand rolls including spicy tuna, spicy shrimp, and sunshine. All of them were standout and I don't think you could make a bad selection here. Their spicy mayo dip was also excellent with each roll. I highly recommend trying this place out. read more

So fun that there is an Australian sushi place in NYC! I love Japanese sushi but I admit that it's easier to eat sushi rolls when it's not cut. The 3 rolls for $12 is a decent price. While the quality of the fish is just okay, it's a quick and cheap spot when you need a light meal. They also give you these cute soy sauce fish bottles. The shop is really small, not really any place to eat inside, so be prepared to takeaway. read more

oh ya this place is good. grab and go! No seating besides a small bench in the window you can not guarantee, but super delicious hand rolls -- 3 for $12. I really enjoyed the salmon avocado and spicy tuna! I also got their miso soup which came with a spoon but came in a coffee cup which I thought was a fun way to drink it (and I really enjoyed it). Quick cheap spot for a yummy hand roll! read more

I really love this Australian hand roll place all the rolls they have are really tasty and you can get three for $12. My favorite are the miso eggplant and the spicy salmon. Is worth the wait in line for a quick yummy snack. Loved the spicy crab salad roll! Great place to get an Australian staple

Realistically would rate closer to a 4.5, but rounding up due to overall experience and value! Sushi Counter is a cute, convenient spot to quickly grab a bite to go. There isn't any seating inside, but there are some smaller tables outside. I came at an off-peak time so didn't have a wait, and had a lovely conversation with the woman working there, who walked me through all the options in order to help me make a decision on which rolls to go with. As others have mentioned, they have a deal of 3 handrolls for $12. I opted for the spicy shrimp, spicy tuna, and salmon avocado. Of the 3, I'd say my favorite was the salmon avocado, followed by the tuna and then the shrimp. Decent quality/ratio of fish to rice ESPECIALLY for the price. If in the area and in need of a quick bite, I'd come back, though wouldn't necessarily go out of my way if not in the neighborhood! read more

I saw this place on TikTok and it was surprisingly not crowded even on a Saturday afternoon when I went. I ordered three sushi rolls - shrimp tempura, salmon, and spicy tuna. The rolls were very fresh plus a new batch of shrimp tempura rolls just came out as well. I really liked the spicy tuna and the shrimp tempura. The rolls were a good size and very easy to eat in a park or on the go. The staff were very friendly and fast. There's not much seating, just two outdoor tables but we ate it in a park on a nice day. A decent deal -- 3 hand rolls for ~$12. BUT the rolls themselves don't taste good. Service is quick and easy. Definitely a grab and go spot if you're in a pinch and need something to eat. But not worth it imo. Just go to genkiya or a japanese grocery store if you want quick sushi read more

Surprisingly good! 4.5/5 Spicy Tuna - the tuna and avocado were fresh. unlike regular spicy tuna sauce, this reminds me of a Tabasco hot sauce flavor, some western twist. it worked well with the sushi roll. 4/5 Spicy Salmon - tastes as expected. the salmon is cooked and it wasn't dry. not outstanding but you can't go wrong with this 5/5 Shrimp Tempura - so delicious!!! it has a sweetened condensed milk sauce reminding me of honey walnut shrimp. love the crunchy tail and it is cooked perfectly. the fried flavor meshed well with the roll overall A $13.06 total for these 3 hand rolls isn't bad. I was decently full afterward and would love to come back. read more

This is a great place to grab cheap and tasty sushi when you're in a rush. The sushi is already prepared and just needs to be placed in the bags. I got 3 rolls for $12 and I was in and out in less than 2 minutes. The sushi is meant to be taken to go so don't plan on dining inside. However, the neighborhood is beautiful and there are plenty of places to eat outside. If you stop by make sure to try the sweet chili mayo! read more

Sushi Counter - 3 Rolls: Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, & Cucumber - Sushi Bars Near Me - New York, New York

I stopped by for a light snack. Each roll is $5, and if you buy 3, there is a $1 discount each. I opted for two rolls since I wasn't feeling too hungry. The options are very simple, and the ones that I tried were done very well. I would've liked it better if the rolls were made fresh, but they were still very good. The rice was a little bit hard and dry because it just stays out in the display case. It's hard to warm it up too because if they do, the shrimp loses it's crunch. The tempura shrimp was really good though. The batter was light, and the shrimp tasted fresh. I loved the mayo sauce that paired with it. The salmon avocado is a classic. I do question the safety of eating raw salmon that's been sitting out for who knows how long, but it tasted really good. I also didn't get sick after, so I think it's fine. It was soft, and the avocado was fresh. I really didn't need any soy sauce with either of the rolls. They do have packaged wasabi and ginger on the side too if you want it. Honestly a very good stop and go place if you're looking for something fast and simple. They do have seating if you want to stay, but it seems like most people take out. read more

These Aussie-style hand rolls are a must-try!!! I recommend ordering the spicy tuna, salmon & avocado, and tempura shrimp. I wondered what makes an Aussie-style hand roll differ from American style sushi. Personally I think it's the sauce and rice because when trying the tempura shrimp there was slight sweetness which differs from other tempura shrimp. I loved it and have been making few trips there. These are small notes for those who will try it as a first timer. I recommend coming early because a line will form before opening hours and sometimes they will briefly close to make another batch of hand rolls. Overall amazing spot that is a cute hole in the wall with two tables for outdoor seating and window seating inside. The owner is super kind and thankful to everyone who orders so show support for this spot read more

Some of the best counter service I've ever experienced in New York. The woman who took and bagged my order was very warm and helpful. The food is really really good. I haven't had hand rolls this good from a grab-and-go place in my recollection. They had a really nice bite to them and the rice wasn't dry at all. The filling was very fresh and flavorful. My favorite had to be the shrimp! However, I enjoyed the variety I got with my order. The soy sauce is very conveniently packaged in a cute little fish bottle which makes it easy to pour onto your rolls between bites. Definitely only needed one for my three rolls cus they were so flavorful even without. The place itself is tiny but really cute. There are some places to sit. Definitely would consider sitting next time if I wasn't in a bit of a rush! Have been looking forward to eating here for a while and it exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be back again soon! Would suggest getting the three rolls for $12! Perfect amount of food. read more
