Update: Gave them one more chance today. Why?!?!?!? I'm blaming the hubs for this one, he wanted an omelet. The pancakes were soggy thanks to this spicy apple glaze that I DID NOT request. The waitress gave up halfway through the meal and we ran out of coffee and water and it took a solid half hour to get the ticket. We wont be back. The hubs can come on his own (doubtful, he was irritated too). Peter D's, just down the road from this place, is far better. *************** Food is good and we used to be regular diners at this restaurant but after today's fiasco, ugh. There are two different dining areas and the one we sat in had a total of 11 diners and 3 waiters, a grand total of 4 tables were occupied. We had the absolute worst service during lunch, it's 4 hours later and I'm still disgusted. The staff was bickering back and forth, we watched one staff member move a washer crate of glasses across the floor with her foot, and two of the waiters (ours was one of them) were visiting in the area where you pick up food for takeout. It took 35 minutes to get two sandwiches. The waiter didn't give a damn and we had to hunt him down for refills on our drinks. I guess he could tell that we were getting ready to leave and he brought us some muffins to apologize. This would have been nice but he disappeared again! The staff in this place don't help each other with their stations, so the other waitstaff was walking by us, not giving a damn either. It's sad but we have tons of restaurants to choose from here, so it's no personal loss, but you would think the management of Mimi's would realize this and step up their game a bit. read more

My husband, daughter and myself ate here on Sunday for dinner. It was our first time here. Mandy was our server, and she was terrific! I got the sweet glazed salmon --that was wonderful --they brought me some more of the wonderful glaze. My husband had the half chicken with mixed veggies--he declared it the best restaurant meal he's had in awhile. My daughter got the grilled chicken pesto baguette. She enjoyed it, but the bread was very hard and she was afraid she would break her retainer. Next time she will just get a sandwich with sliced bread. Coffee was also excellent, as was the basket of bread before the meal. We had no room for dessert, but we will remedy that the next time we return! If you want good food and great service, don't go here. It takes forever to get waited on, even when you're the only table in the restaurant. Also don't order iced tea because it's so light it's basically water. Save yourself $3.50. You have to beg for everything and then they want a big tip; after they basically ignore you. Food was abysmal! Food was expensive for the quality. Our server made a rude comment when we asked for the check. I will not be back. I'll spend my money where I'm treated right. The menu has lots of options and the waiter - Tameel- (Te'Meil?) was great! I recommend asking for him when you go. Note: I learned they are under new management and it shows. I haven't been here for awhile as it had declined over the years, but it looks like they've got their act together again, which is great. I love being able to have a latte with a meal (vs just a snack) and as soon as I find a designated driver think it would be fun to meet friends here for the bottomless mimosas for just $15!!! read more

Been here for breakfast twice very recently and it was great both times. Food tasted very fresh. I hadn't been here in awhile and when i brought up how good it was to family and friends they told me how terrible it is here, idk if my friends have bad taste but all i'm saying is i enjoyed two very good breakfast meals outside of the typical diner environment and without spending too much money. Its worth a revisit if your past experiences weren't good enough. Mimi's is a great chain restaurant located across most of the southern portion of the US. They have an excellent brunch menu featuring fabulous muffins you'll want to order extra of and take home with you. For lunch/dinner, I'm a big fan of their french onion soup - such cheesy, flavorful goodness. I also love their Asian chopped salad, and my husband loves their burgers. For this visit, I ordered soup and a baked brie appetizer as my entree. The brie was topped with apricot chutney and served with buttered bread and thinly sliced Granny Smith apples. It was fantastic! I really don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, as Mimi's consistently serves well-made dishes. read more

Wow, seems like you either love or hate Mimi's! I am not a "foodie," so feel safe reading the review of an average woman who does not expect a chef to appear from the kitchen and thank you for dining at their establishment. Ok but seriously. Husband, toddler and I were on the way to another place for breakfast when we passed Mimi's Cafe. I yelled, "LET'S GO THERE!" and offered full responsibility if we hated it. We've passed the place at least 500 times, but where did it come from? Is it a chain? I've never heard of it before so I wanted to go ahead and give it a shot. I'm adventurous that way. This was 9am on a Sunday morning; in the Bible belt, no restaurant is packed. We were seated quickly and served drinks quickly as well. My husband ordered the egg white and veggie omelet and I got some kind of big meal deal that I was going to share with toddler. It consisted of 3 small waffles with some kind of cream cheese and strawberries on top, eggs, corned beef hash, and.. something else? I can't remember. Anyway toddler was for some reason being a royal pain - yelling, crawling under the table, etc. I asked husband to take him for a little walk so we wouldn't be "those people" at the restaurant. Our food came out in like 9 minutes and they weren't even back from their walk yet! Husband is pretty easy to please. His muffin was great and even toddler ate a bit of that. Omelet got his approval too. A small fruit cup was shared with toddler, too. My waffles... Omg my waffles. I kindof wasn't paying attention when I ordered because I was trying to make sure toddler wasn't going to yell or jump off the booth or stab himself or anything. I didn't notice that the cream cheese on the waffles was mandarin or marmalade or something orangey flavored... It was AMAZING. The waffles were hot and fluffy and sliced strawberries on top really rounded out the dish. The corned beef has was.. well it was corned beef hash. I don't care for it much but needed the beef in my meal for the iron and protein. Meh. Eggs were scrambled and hot. Overall it was a really nice experience save for my kid being a mess. At $28 for two adults it isn't something we would do every day, but as a sometimes place it was fine. Our waitress was nice (but not too nice, know what I mean?), food was hot and fast and did I mention that cream cheese on the waffles? Yeah. Orange cream cheese on fluffy waffles. This restaurant seems to need a complete overhaul. Their menu doesn't even seem to want to please... Pretty bland... Although, my wife did seem to enjoy the quiche florentine she ordered. I ended up falling for the menu gimmicks and ordered a bland piece of chicken that seemed to be thrown on a George Forman without any seasoning and some greasy limp fries (frites, they called them). Seriously lack-luster experience. The quality of the food was the only reason I gave Mimi's 2 stars instead of one or none (while it wasn't fantastic it was 'good'). We went on a Thursday night, there was one sizeable group who had rented a room there for a dinner. Despite the main dining room being only 1/2 occupied it took several minutes to get seat, several more to get drinks and quite some time to get bread (which once we got it, was very good). We got there a few minutes after 6 and didn't get our food until almost 7:15. Two in our party ordered burgers, which they both enjoyed and were cooked as requested. One of us ordered steak, which, while cooked correctly, was quite tough. I wanted the turkey and dressing, which they were out of...on a Thursday night at 6:20...frustrating. I ordered the grilled chicken and frites...it was 'eh'. The skin wasn't crispy, the chicken was a bit dry and despite having waited so long for the food it was luke warm (at best). We had our 3.5 yo with us and her grilled cheese was also cold. Our waitress was 'eh' at best as well. Polite, but clearly had too many tables on her hands. Our drinks stayed full and she checked in twice, but she was clearly distracted by the fact that none of her tables had food (not her fault). A manager finally checked in the last 10 minutes we were there and brought us muffins for our trouble. Muffins. After over an hour wait. I would have appreciated an apology and a comp. card for a future visit rather than day old muffins they would have thrown away anyway, but I guess I give him an 'A' for effort. Mimi's used to be a great place to go for really wholesome food. No more. Went there and ordered a salad, it was inedible. I wasn't going to say anything, just not eat it, but my companion did it for me. It looked horrible and how do you screw up a salad? I had eaten there with friends for Thanksgiving a couple years ago, so was hoping for the same. The presentation was to put all food on one plate. The turkey was fine, the mashed potatoes were fine, but I just didn't want. The sweet potatoes with pecans were so loaded with preservatives, you couldn't ignore it. The green bean casserole would have been ok, but it tasted like they mixed it with Sam's Club off-the-shelf casserole, which is awful. The worst was the stuffing. It was a scoop of pasty stuff with loads of preservatives. I couldn't eat any of it, but again, wasn't going to say anything because I didn't want to upset the others. But one of my friends complained that her glass was dirty with someone's finger prints and the underside of her plate was filthy (so was mine). The third diner at my table said she'd eaten there a couple weeks ago and it was also bad. It's obvious that Mimi's trying to save money at the expense of quality. I will not eat there again. They served the worst food I've eaten in a restaurant in many years. read more

I have been going for more than a few years. I generally like the place because it has a nice atmosphere and pretty good food. It was even a place I took my now wife when we were dating. We have enjoyed the hospitality that we received until tonight. It started out good, it wasn't that busy and were seated immediately. The hostess grabbed us glasses of water because our waitress was somewhat busy. Ten maybe fifteen minutes later our waitress shows up to the table and takes our order because we already had our drinks. She lets us know we will get our basket of bread momentarily, that also takes twenty minutes to get. Almost immediately before we got our food, another waitress asks us if we wanted some bread, which we declined because we should be getting our food sometime soon. The next thing you know here is our bread, then after ten more minutes, we get our food. The other waitress also filled up my glass of water two to three times. My wife and I were a little excited about the new menu items, garlic spinach, and Fire-grilled shrimp brochette, and she had grilled Atlantic salmon and pineapple upside down muffins. By the time the other waitress brought me more water, I already knew she was getting our waitress's tip. Meanwhile, the waiter who had the table beside us (the customers got there fifteen minutes after us) took very good care of them with drinks, bread, and food before we even received our bread. When we finally got our food, the garlic spinach didn't even have a hint of garlic, and I make better grilled shrimp at home on my grill. It was as if they took pre-cooked shrimp and skewered it, and stuck it in the microwave without a hint of grilling at all. After about five minutes of waiting for our waitress to show up to check on us, we just asked for our check. I can handle either lack of good handling from the wait staff or the cook staff, not both. The other waitress got a tip, pleading for us to come back for her sake. The chance is slim to none. I hope she is rewarded with a better place to work. Came here for Mother's Day. We have been here a few times before and said then we wouldn't come back. It's been a while, so we thought we would give it another shot. We had reservations for 12pm. We got there at 11:50 and were seated around 12:20. Not terrible, considering it was Mother's Day. Server came to take our drink orders, and because we had a 2 year old with us, we went ahead and ordered our meals. We waited for straws and finally one of the people in our party went to get them off the counter herself and proceeded to give them to our table and the table next to us, who had also requested them and never received them. We asked for some crackers or bread to tide our toddler over since it was past his normal lunch time and we wanted to be considerate of people around us. ONE HOUR LATER, we still had no meals, no bread, and no drink refills. Once our food finally came out 20 minutes later, it was taken to the table next to us who had been seated after us. The servers realized their mistake in several of the dishes, and picked up the food from the table next to us (after it had been placed in front of people and the server walked away) and placed it in front of us. Somehow they had mixed up the two tickets, and some of our food was on their table, some on our own, and vice versa. We waited an additional 15 minutes for 3 of our meals, two of which were my 8 year old and 2 year old sons'. I may not be well versed in serving, but I would think as a server you would know to always make sure the children get their food first. My 2 year old had to wait the longest for his food, as the other 2 meals were brought out before his was. Needless to say, none of us were happy with having to eat in shifts - waiting for meals to come out, some of our food ended up cold from waiting to be polite, my 2 year old ate part of my food just so he wouldn't have a complete meltdown. By the time we left, we had been in this restaurant for 2 1/2 hours. The food is not anywhere near good enough for 2 1/2 hour visit. They did comp 1/2 of our meals, but I would have rather not gone than had to spend so much of our Mother's Day afternoon with hungry tired kids. Next time we will pick up some food from somewhere else, take my 69-year-old mother and 92-year-old grandmother to a park, and have a nice relaxing picnic as a family. We certainly will not be going to Mimi's again. There is a reason we said we would never be back the last time we went. read more

I stopped coming here because they went down hill but today I gave them another chance and was impressed. I went in for an early Friday lunch. First the new menu is gorgeous. Second the food was delicious, I got a medium-rare burger with mushrooms with the house salad with vinaigrette as a side. I was able to add cup of French Onion soup for a small cost.I got a slice of their mud pie or whatever it is to go. Everything was so delicious, even the Coca Cola was perfect. And third the server Justin was outstanding. This had to be the best meal I've had in Murfreesboro. Actually Nobody's Thanksgiving meal a few years ago was even better. Last week they ran out of bread and a few of their actual menu items.....This week I had to completely change the item I really wanted because they told me that coleslaw was not an actual side that I could substitute out as I have done all along....so, I ordered the pot roast instead... Stopped in some time ago for breakfast and was blown away by how good it was! My wife had a HUGE honey oat muffin that could have fed a family of four, while I had quiche. These were small personal-sized quiches that you look at and think, "well isn't that cute." You don't think they'll fill you up, but boy do they! The quiche was some of the best I've ever had (ok, so I'm biased toward my own homemade ones) and you couldn't beat the price! I am a big fan of breakfast foods and pancakes in particular. I was excited when I saw I could get breakfast for lunch at Mimi's. The bacon was crisp and not overcooked (as I've experienced at Crackerbarrel). My over-easy eggs were perfect (not greasy as at Waffle House). The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Overall the food was great. Our server was wonderful and very helpful as my friend had her young baby with us. I'll be returning to Mimi's. read more

This place is awesome for a chain restaurant. It's a very homey garden bistro / cajun jazz themed restaurant. For Sunday brunch they have Mimosa's and bloody Mary's and a very large menu. They also have a great low-cal menu to choose from. I had the green enchiladas and they were fantastic! The chicken, was tender and it had some sort of a green chile / tomatillo sauce and they drizzled it with honey lime sauce. MMMMM My husband had a Ruben Sandwich and he really enjoyed it as well. The best part is that the portions are not too large and the service is excellent. It is also right next to the new outdoor mall. read more

Hosting staff and management need lessons on time management and multitasking. According to them, it took more than twenty-five minutes to clean a table (that had already been cleaned). Hosting staff needs to be at front entrance/hosting stand more as during our wait, there were at least four parties that had arrived and were waiting to be placed on the seating list. Serving staff is clearly overwhelmed and appears understaffed. Had high hopes for Mimi's since it was the only place I could find a weekday brunch that served alcohol, but service is miserable. We complained about this restaurant to Corporate and was sent vouchers for $50 so gave them a second chance, this turned out to be worse than the last visit, both our breakfasts were cold, my Wife's potatoes were burnt, and my eggs Benedict were also cold, service was slow and the server wanted to know "Where did you get this from, we haven't ever seen these (our vouchers) the manager took them because I had the good sense to print off the email between myself and Corporate, we will never return. read more
