Mimi's is slowly becoming one of my favorite spots in Murfreesboro. It's so unassuming from the outside, but the menu boasts a variety of options, and the breakfast is stellar. During our visit today our server was Mel, and she went above and beyond to make our visit a pleasant one. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll French toast (exactly what it sounds like) and my wife ordered the ham and Swiss crepe; the Swiss cheese within the crepe was on point. Great experience all around. Had to wait to be seated even though empty tables. Tells me they are u see staffed. Was finally seated after 10 minutes. After seating table was very sticky. Menus sticky. Asked a lady to wipe off. She says the cleaner they use and the tables don't mesh. What???? Waited 20 minutes. Then flagged down waiter and asked that manager come over. 5 more minutes. No one even acknowledged our existence. We dine fairly frequently at this Mimi's. It is probably our first choice restaurant. On this particular occasion our server misunderstood my wife's order and brought something else. This was quickly corrected and we enjoyed our lunch. We will probably return to this restaurant within the next couple of weeks for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner. read more

I came in with a friend on 2-17-20 around 8PM. She highly recommended the restaurant. We were promptly sat and ordered drinks. I ordered a Bloody Mary French onion soup, the Cajun pasta dish and a side of spinach and I want to say scalloped potatoes. Let's start with drinks. The Absolute Bloody Mary had the basic consistency of water. It did not appear as if any type of actual mix was used. It seemed to have a splash of tomato juice ( maybe). It was VERY bitter. VERY BITTER so I had my friend try it to confirm that it was super bitter just in case my taste buds were off. She made a very squinty face after tasting it to confirm. I returned the drink and just stuck with my sweet tea. On to the French onion soup. The soup was ok and the bowl was very hot and the cheese was melted, however the soup and onions in the middle of the bowl were just a bit above room temperature to cold. On to the Cajun pasta. When I received it it looked a little dry on the outside as if it had been made for a while or sat out. Some of it was super hot and other pieces of the pasta and even the shrimp were cold. As in refrigerator temperature cold. I can only assume that it was placed in a microwave and then stirred up, as that's the only way I imagine that you can have hot and cold pieces of shrimp and pasta in the same plate. I decided not to finish the dish as the extreme varying temperatures made me worry about bacteria. On to the potatoes. At first glance you could tell the exact size of the container that they came out of as it was congealed in place and you could see that it was scooped out of the corner of the pan and flipped on its side. The potatoes were cold and apparently had been sitting for far too long, as it had basically turned to the consistency of mashed potatoes at that point. Yet again, I didn't finish eating it as it made me worry about bacteria. On to the spinach. The spinach came out in a small plate / container and was VERY salty. ( take into account that I like salt). It also seemed to be sitting under a layer of oil. On to service. The waitress met us at the door and sat us and was prompt on the first drinks and the food. She was also nice but never once asked to refill a drink. She brought out the food to obviously empty glasses but still no refills. I finally picked up both of our drinks and walked almost into the kitchen area and directly asked for a refill of water and sweet tea. As I said, she was friendly and was not rude in anyway. Just needs to work on her refill game. My friend apologized for the recommendation. I'm unsure if they were having an off day or what, however I have definite concerns for ever eating at this restaurant again as I worry that they may only be good when a certain set of employees or managers are working. I have seen some similar reviews addressing temperature and food quality. I hope a strong team member or owner is able to help rectify these issues. read more

Went in for dinner tonight, I have never been so disappointed. For starters there was only 3 of us, no wait at all got sat right away. Took about 10 minutes before the host came over and asked us for drinks due to "server being busy". Then about 20 minutes after I finally got to speak to our server, granted I have been here before food was great service was good but never this bad, the server was very bad. I ordered a baked Brie took about 25 minutes before I got it, then French onion soup which came out cold, my partner ordered chicken strips that came out cold and received none of the sauces she ordered but received ones she was in fact allergic too, we kept trying to get the servers attention, and she ignored us. I ate the soup, but she couldn't even eat the chicken with how cold and chewy it was, the server ended up never checking on us. Being a server myself this was completely unacceptable, I'd be ashamed if I treated my guests or my tables this way. I was so mad and upset with the service I excused myself, and I went to my car. The girls I was with came out and let me know that she dropped the checks off and there were things on each check that wasn't supposed to be there, another server error. She never did ask or take the chicken strips off without a single one being eaten. Truth be told, I have been a server my entire adult life and I have eaten out and been out and I totally understand when things don't go right and I get it more than most. But paying almost $80 for the food which was not edible and the service being so poor, I would seriously recommend never eating here. Even on the way out there were people walking in and I explained how horrible it was and they immediately got in there car and left. An overall poor experience. Have only eaten breakfast here and it was excellent. My husband had the egg and bacon sandwich with fried potatoes. So so yummy. I had the egg white and veggie omelette. The goat cheese, fresh tomatoes, and mushrooms were incredible. I loved it! I also really wanted potatoes but I knew they weren't the healthiest opinion, so the waitress suggested to get them roasted and they were so perfect! Yum! Also, get a muffin. Let me begin by saying the staff were all top notch. We were greeted and seated immediately and our server was extremely attentive and friendly. We even had a visit from what I assume was the manager. That being said, this was one of the worst meals we have ever been served in a restaurant. No one in my party ate more than a few bites. The chicken was rubbery, the macaroni straight from a box, the eggs curdled, and the potatoes were cold. The green beans, granted, were palatable, but also room temperature. However...at some point our server was replaced without a word and once we settled the check, we were no longer offered beverage refills, and I HATE THAT when I've just tiped 25%! We wanted to sit and visit (our room had only five tables filled) but had to do it over cold coffee and empty water glasses. Tried the French toast made from cinammon roll, along with eggs and bacon. The bacon was beautifully crisped as requested, but the eggs were brown. Personally, I would never have served eggs that looked like that. They tasted a little odd as well. Extremely disappointed. Decided to try brunch on a Saturday morning, yet the hostesses were very sweet and attentive. There was about a 15 minute wait and we decided to get mimosas at the bar, while we wait. When we asked about mimosas he failed to tell us about the brunch special $5 mimosas and charged us full price during the special. When our table was ready we were never greeted and waited over 10 minutes with 4 different servers walking past us. Not one person stopped to greet us, or even say they'll be over in a minute. Each time they are seemingly understaffed (yet with plenty of servers floating around), there are more apologies for inaccuracy of orders than correct items, and it is always underwhelming once the food arrives. It's a chain restaurant, and thus your expectations should be consistent....and in this regard the consistency is it is not worth it, even for a chain. read more

Went to Mimi's Cafe this morning with my bride of 48 years. First the good things. My wife got the quiche florentine which she enjoyed. She said that they had improved the crust, not thick an doughy as it used to be. The coffee was good, as was the muffin (carrot spice). We only go to Mimi's when we have a BOGO coupon, even with the coupon it was still $20, partly due to 3.29 each for a cup of coffee and a coke. Ridiculously expensive. With breakfast I do need my coffee and my wife a coke. Next the bad. My ham and cheese omelet was dry and overcooked. I did tell the waitress and the manager but did not send it back even though they offered to replace it. It took so long to get this one I didn't want to wait for another. While we were there we saw four tables send back food, and they weren't that busy. This is the second trip this year, I question a return visit. read more

They honestly don't seem to care whether you are there or not, and unfortunately the management seems as bad.
