The staff is always wonderful but last night I went there [granted I don't live in Modesto] ordered the roasted chicken and the chicken was old and awful, actually it made me sick after. Decided to order breakfast instead of making it today for the family to be delivered. Big mistake. Packaging was horrible. The bag was too big and the containers slid off and was sitting side ways will all the food inside now mixed. I order Corned beef & hash, I added onions & peppers (more onion and peppers than potatoes). Ordered sourdough toast, got sourdough bread not toasted. Over medium egg more like over hard. My wife ordered French toast, not very good either, lacked flavor. Turkey sausage was dry. Mother in law had pancakes she said they were good. Will not order breakfast Togo again. read more

I've eaten at Mimi's in Fresno and it was amazing. Modesto Mimi's was horrid. The staff were nice and attentive but that didn't make up for the horrible food. I'm not sure if they were training a new cook but I've never...just never. The waitress asked if we wanted they take the inedible food on our plates home and we both said "no" in unison. The au gratin potatoes casserole goop was so horrible that I had to force myself to swallow and really wanted to spit it out into my napkin; it tasted like it had gone bad. The green beans were overcooked and had something added to them that made them taste...I can't even describe it. The salmon was not cooked all the way. The calamari appetizer we ordered was still raw on the inside. I apologized to my partner about 50 times for asking to eat here. The best part of the meal was the molten lava cake and ice cream desert. Probably the best part because the waitress made it and not the cook. I won't be going back here again and now it makes sense why there were no cars in the parking lot on a Sunday evening. Don't get the pancakes unless you like heavy dense undercooked ones. They were only cooked on the outside edges. But the eggs bacon and blueberry muffin was good. The iced mocha coffee was decadently served in a tall flute type glass. It was delicious. Had lunch today with my 88 year old mom, at Modesto location. Soooo disappointed! Won't be back. We both ordered albacore tuna and cheese melts. They were awful , not albacore tuna at all. And not good. Served with some fries and soup. Corn chowder was ok. Waitress offered to take food back but we said no. I used to go to Mimi's in Dublin and loved it. So we gave this one a try. Don't make advance reservations at this location, they will not honor it if they are busy, we waited 45 mins after our reservation and left, they ruined my mother's Mother's Day as she is with a walker and couldn't stand out in the heat any longer., they didn't even offer water to those waiting outside. In disbelief none of the many other patrons waiting for a table didn't offer their seat to her. Shame, just a terrible experience all around, but made the best of the rest of this special day for her once we left. My party of two came here on a busy Friday morning. We were sat and waited about 5 minutes for service. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my friend ordered a soup and sandwich. It took about 15 mins to get our water and 20 to get our food. It wasn't bad service given how busy it was. The food was okay. It wasn't bad or delicious. It's been a few years since I've been here and the decor is showing signs of wear (I.e. there was a tear in the booth seat, unfortunate). I was greeted immediately by a friendly employee. As a mother on Mother's Day just wanting to enjoy some delicious food... I definitely wasn't let down by the food... but as a walk in customer... Not knowing they did reservations.. I was very upset by the 2 hour wait.. As I put my name on the list. I asked how long the wait would be she said like an hour.. I understood since reservations were made... but it seemed as tho they were only letting reserved parties sit.. Anyone who came walking in was told the wait would only be an hour wait... Which was not the truth. Maybe next time for a holiday just say you're only serving reserved parties because myself, my mother, and grandmother spent our whole morning just waiting to eat. Although the food was nice... we will not be eating there next year. I had to go remind the host that we waited for over 2 hours.. She asked, "are you a walk in?" I said "yes" and as she was only going off the reservation list she looked over and grabbed the walk in paper that was turned over and it was obvious that walk ins were not a priority. It was jammed packed in there so I will give the place a decent rating due to the food and it being a holiday.. but next time please don't lie to those who are walking in.. specially mamas on Mother's Day. read more

First, I have to say Mimi's hasn't changed a bit in the best way possible. This is a staple in Modesto and still lives up to its name after all these years. Our go to restaurant for breakfast, we have had our Christmas breakfast here for several years in a row and they have always accommodated our large group with split tabs. I just had the driest corned beef and eggs delivered. I've had this delivered before, and past orders had big, juicy portions. Sadly, there was about 1/4 of the usual portion, mostly small potatoes mixed with shreds of dry beef. With a side of bigger potatoes. The eggs were also overcooked, no beautiful egg yolk oozed out when I poked it. There's usually love in Mimi's food, but this was just sad. I met friends there for a last minute lunch Sunday. Our server was super friendly and professional, accommodating our group of six. Everyone was happy with the food and experience. I hadn't been there in years, as I live out of the area. So I wonder...what happened to all the decor that used to hang in the main dining room? It's all gone. What happened to the great bread baskets they used to serve? when did that stop? I loved those. Last, I hope management sees this...The sound system is a big minus for the experience.
