I haven't eaten Mimi's in almost 15 years and now I know why. I was craving it this morning and when I got my food today, I was so disappointed. There was no attention put into my food. The potatoes tasted old and not fresh. The turkey sausage felt like it was microwaved. It was just sad the lack of care put into the food. I am surprised there were so many people there. Maybe because it's a weekend. But I just couldn't even eat it. It was not enjoyable. I would rather pay triple elsewhere and actually enjoy the food. Sorry guys. This is the truth. I feel the need to post a review of this Mimi's. This particular location had slid in service 6 years ago and we stopped going. Recently, we've been there several times for lunch and dinner and have to say everything is excellent. Food is as good as ever. Especially the comfort food staples, like their meatloaf, pot roast, and turkey dinners. So glad they turned around and are still at this location, as so many of the American restaurants have been displaced from Irvine. read more

Visited on a Sunday at around 11:30am and while I understand that those are peak hours, the service was arguably lacking. Our server was friendly and timely with taking our orders but the food took VERY long to come out- around 45 minutes to an hour. I ordered their Bacon Avocado Omelet with white toast and while I ended up finishing a majority of my plate, I attribute this to the fact that I was extremely hungry after waiting a long time for our food. I was also a little disappointed to find out that even though it's called a Bacon Avocado Omelet, they only give you two pieces of bacon on top and there are no pieces inside the actual omelette. Not to mention, the portions are small given the relatively higher prices. I will admit though that their potatoes are DELICIOUS. I think this place is a mediocre breakfast/brunch spot so I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

Went with a friend for their happy hour. We each had a popsicle margarita (one spicy mango and the other one strawberry) and they were really tasty. The service was great as well. It would have been a great experience; however, all me and my wife could smell was the cleaner used to clean our outside patio table. Please switch to a scent free cleaner. Its not pleasant smelling cleaner when trying to enjoy a meal. There's no benefit to using a cleaner with such a strong scent. read more

We came here for the old American diner experience and we got it. The decor its neat. We sat inside and for a moment we forgot we were in Irvine. There are plenty of areas to sit inside and an outside option is available. The server came to us quickly and delivered our drinks just as fast. The menu is well planned and you are sure to find what you are looking for. If I remember correctly breakfast is served all day. The prices were also pretty good and the meals were fulfilling. I recommend this place for families, couples or just to get out of the house (or feel like you've left Irvine for a moment). It definitely has a small-town far from the city feel. read more

I ate at this location yesterday with a friend and we not only had to wait 15 minutes for a waiter but we also had nats flying all around us during our lunch. There was a spider above my friends head as well. I asked to see the manager and I told her if the bugs all around and all she could say was well we had an exterminator come last week so I guess they will have to come again. No apology at all.
