It has been a while since I reviewed a restaurant. I've wanted to, but only like to give positive reviews, at this stage of life. None had accomplished an excellent review like today's brunch at Mimi's café in IRVINE. We all remember the original Mimi's Café, they have closed so many of them, but this one still stands and has been there for as long as I can remember. Walking in was like a trip back in time, such great memories!!!! The food was excellent. Everything was top-notch quality, hot, and flavorful, I haven't had a meal that outstanding for years. The people that work there obviously care for this establishment, they were attentive. The ice water glasses were sparkling clean. But let me get to the food. I opened with a vanilla latte that was outstanding with just the right amount of foam. I had the three egg omelette, stuffed with spinach and topped with bacon and brie. It came with roasted potatoes and a muffin- I had the honey bran. My friend, Patricia, had homemade corned beef hash with poached eggs and potatoes & a muffin, as well. The wait staff was cordial & knew his job and the hostess was darling. I can't say enough about what a great meal it was from beginning to end and really worth the cost. Obviously, I highly recommend read more

Awesome breakfast. Five of us were served one of the best breakfast we have had in a long time.

Our office ordered Mimi's catering today for our early Thanksgiving (/potluck) celebration. We had the ham and turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The meats were dry since they were already sliced up. Mashed potatoes, gravy, broccoli, cranberries sauce were all okay. It used to be much better when our family ate right there at the restaurant. 3.5/5 read more

I was in the area, the other day, and I was craving Quiche. I ordered their Quiche Lorraine with salad, and a huge blueberry muffin. The service was spectacular, the French cafe style ambiance is cute and European. The food was delicious. My quiche was served piping hot, and flavorful, as well as my mouthwatering blueberry muffin. They still know how to make muffins, after all these years. I'm glad to see that Mimi's is still around, with fewer locations now. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and I highly recommend this location. You can also make dining reservations on OpenTable. Good service and decent food, overall. You bet, I'm returning.... read more

I am a simple girl and so I have my favorite dishes. The five way grilled cheese lunch is to die for. No other place makes it as good. The corn chowder is good but not the best I'll admit. The service is great, and the waiters are friendly! I hope they never change the interior decorating, the French touch everywhere makes it stand out in a place like Irvine. read more

While in Irvine CA, my GF and I were treated to breakfast at Mimi's. Unfortunately the AC was not working that day but there were some ceiling fans that made our experience bearable. I didn't want to photograph everyone's meals because I had just met them, but I had the eggs Benedict. It was good, no complaints there. The restaurant specializes in muffins and some meals come with a muffin. I sampled 2 but the not that stood out was they carrot cake. It was really delicious, but not traditional. It was lighter than traditional and it was so good we got 2 loaves to go. Everyone enjoyed their meals as they've all been there before, but what stood out for me was the wonderful looking waffles that was ordered buy the person next to me. It came with eggs and choice of protein and he ate everything. Hopefully I can return and sample the wonderful looking waffles. Would definitely return here if I have the opportunity and hopefully the AC would be working. read more

Made a reservation for Mother's day. Arrived to find that we still had a minute wait. Our reservation was on Open Table. I could have made reservations elsewhere. What's the point in reservations if you don't honor them at the reserved time? read more

Mimi's Cafe is a chain of casual restaurants serving American food with a touch of French bistro influence that I visit occasionally. Authentic or not, their onion soup is richly flavorful and delicious and is topped with a generous portion of melted cheese. It is probably one of their signature dishes on the menu. Some of my other favorites include their pot roast which is cooked French style in a red wine sauce and parmesan crusted chicken breast filet served over linguini with a zesty marinara sauce. I recently had a chicken pot pie, and it was surprisingly good. For some reasons it is quite difficult to find a good and hearty chicken pot pie in the Southland. I was impressed at first glance by its buttery, flaky, and perfectly golden-brown crust. The pie was stuffed with plenty of chicken and vegetables blended in a rich and savory sauce. The only slight disappointment was that it was a bit dry. It would have been perfect if there were more sauce inside the pie. But overall, I was happy about the meal. And don't forget that they have some of the best breakfasts in town. I am a big fan of their breakfast potatoes and house made sausages. Their quiches are also a great breakfast option that are not available in too many places early in the morning. Last but not the least, don't forget to check out their fried chicken and waffles. read more

Went there a long time ago but really liked it Enjoyed their breakfast and fresh bread read more

Loved everything! Arath, our server, was awesome! Great food and muffins! Love Mimi's!

It's not the Mimi's of old. Used to expect the high quality of food and drink. Quit going there 6 years ago and should have stayed away. New owners are big into frozen food products for stores and restaurants, and it shows. Coffee was luke warm and quiche seemed fresh out of a microwave. So sad. read more

Had such a great experience at Mimi's Cafe! The food was delicious, everything came out fresh, and the service made our visit even better. Nice sunday brunch place with quick with no wait! good food friendly staff great service thanks Arath !

Very bad service, please don't go!!!! I reserved a week before Mother's Day. upon arrival, the check in lady told me I have to wait at least 30 minutes from the reservation time because they don't have a table. after we were finally seated 30min later, the surrounding was very hot with no air circulation, and there were used coffee creamer on the table. Only one server for about 6 tables area. From entering the restaurant to be seated, all at a mess. we decided to leave this place read more

Made a reservation for Mother's Day for 1:30pm and when we arrived we were told we would have to wait 30 minutes for a table as they were busy. What is the point of a reservation if it isn't honored. Once we did get seated there were still used creamers on the table and the waitress ignored us for 10+ minutes before even greeting us. They gave us a holiday menu that is super limited and inflexible. We went for brunch and because of their wait time their brunch menu closed out. read more

Before coming to Mimi's, I walked out of a nearby Olive Garden after being ignored by their servers. Mim's is a familiar name, so I stopped here and was promptly greeted and seated by Haajar, the young lady at the hostess counter. Although she was busy with her own tasks, Haajar took my drink order and shortly thereafter my food order as well. She kept my Diet Coke filled, and was attentive without being intrusive. The food was tasty and the environment was inviting and mellow. But as I told the manager, Tracy: Haajar's kindness and welcoming spirit made the experience. (Haajar was a wonderful representative of the Mimi's brand, and I recommended they give her a huge raise and a primo parking spot...) THANK YOU! read more

I love Mimi I really like the young gentleman Arath for his help Thank you Mimi's for the wonderful service

Mimi's offers a wide variety of food choices. The decor is French and they do have a limited selection of French foods, but I would not call it a French restaurant. They offer breakfast all day and all sorts of traditional California cuisine. What really stands out, however is the baked goods that are delicious beyond the imagination. read more

Redeemed takeout birthday reward, which was a muffin sundae. Mediocre food and atrocious service from the takeout counter. I do not regret going down the street for pho. do not come here; honestly not sure how this place stays in business; service was horrendous and food was mediocre. I suppose the only bright side was the place was empty so it was quiet. It's been around for a while so I'm sure it was good in the past but not sure what's keeping it around now. read more

Served me the vegetable quiche when I ordered the quiche Lorraine. I had to track down the server in order to get the quiche exchanged. We visited Mimi!s Cafe on Barranca Pkwy and David was our waiter. He was very attentive, friendly and helped us to order. Absolutely terrible service. We were seated, placed our order immediately, and the only thing we asked for was water. Thirty minutes later, we still hadn't even received our water. We asked three separate times for a waiter, and no one ever came to our table. We were completely ignored the entire time. It's frustrating to spend your time at a restaurant where the staff doesn't seem to care whether you're helped or not. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be coming back. I wouldn't recommend this place if you expect even basic customer service. Feels like the workers are on drugs at all times too. Does not take 50 min to make pancakes. They don't even come out with syrup. I ask for syrup and he comes out with 8 butters. I can't tell if this place is a joke. I've been here 2 hours no check I hope the owner sees this and just decides to shut down this place tbh. read more
