On Thursday 09/12/24 was my first time coming to this business. Unfortunately I should've just went to another establishment. My experience at this nail salon was NOT PLEASANT. When I arrived I wasn't greeted I was just asked what I needed done. Before being sat down at the chair to get my feet done I used the restroom and a worker was sitting on the floor eating her lunch right next to the restroom, red flag. That was very unsanitary and unethical. The owner should have designated areas for her employees to eat. The owner clearly doesn't give a dam to have her workers sit on the floor to eat near the bathroom. While the owner ate at an empty nail table. This place looks super cheap inside they tried to make it look expensive but completely looks cheap! From the old drapes and chandler. The service I requested was 1 gel pedicure and 1 gel manicure. No type of conversations between the ladies giving me the nail service. First, the woman doing my feet was new and I was a trial/experiment. She had NO CLUE what to do. The woman doing my manicure constantly told her what to do. I told her from the beginning I wanted my toe nails clipped a tinny bit as my toe nails were grown out and I like them left longer. I asked her to shape my toe nails into square. She stated she understood. As I am looking at the other woman doing my manicure the lady doing my feet cuts my toe nails SO SHORT! And I tell her that I asked for her to clip a tiny bit. She ignored me. I know my feet and I like what I like. My thing is if she didn't know what I meant she should've clarified. Now I'm stuck with short uneven toes nails. I told her she cut to short and she tried to do better on my other foot. The lady who did my gel manicure did good. She gave me a massage after doing my manicure. I've never received that at any salon. I was definitely in pain the next morning she was extremely ROUGH. As I am paying the owner Mimi asked if I was leaving a tip on my card I said yes $5. She's said "only $5 but what about the other girl" I said look at my feet they are uneven you want me to leave a tip for someone who didn't follow instructions? Then she stated she would fix my toes I stated to her "HOW CAN YOU FIX MY TOE NAILS THEY HAVE BEEN CUT ALREADY ARE YOU GOING TO GLUE THEM BACK ON? She went silent and I paid and left very unhappy. Mimi should've done better handling this situation she failed as business owner. As an owner you should handle this in a better manner instead of giving a customer attitude. Not one bit did I give her attitude even though I was NOT happy with her worker's service. Today is Sunday and the gel manicure is already chipping. JUST HORRIBLE. I paid $75 for gel 1 manicure and 1 pedicure. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. There are multiple negative reviews about this place. No care for clients wants and needs. Do me a favor and don't waste your money with this garbage business.

I found my new go to nail spot! Theyre super close to me and have THE BEST staff. Everyone is so well trained, the facility is clean and nice, the treatment that come with your service are great. I got a gel mani/pedi which came out to about $78 for both. The color selection was incredible. Theyre very thorough with all their work. What surprised me was at the end of the service, they even gave you a MASSAGE. Like a legit massage!! Even aside from the massage chairs! One time I called in super late 15 mins before they closed and they STILL TOOK ME. Theyre really super nice, caring, and I'll definitely frequent them more often

My grandmother has been coming here for years. I tag along occasionally and haven't had a bad experience. It's a typical salon with typical service. However, after my grandmothers triple bypass, and watching how careful they were with her, how caring, how much they helped her in and out of the chair, how they listened so intently to her, I decided to make the drive to bring her here as often as possible. I had the best pedicure today, and found my new favorite lady! It's clean, the bathroom is clean, the chairs are nice and the ladies are awesome. There are a ton of nail salons in CV, but if you come here more than once, chances are Mimi remembers your name.

I really liked how my nails came out! I have gotten alot of compliments about my nails.

I can always count on Mimi to do a superb job on my nails. She's been doing my nails for 15 years (hard to believe it's been that long) so that speaks volumes because let's be honest ladies, and gentlemen, we're picky about our manicure and will go somewhere else if we're not happy. I found this spot closer to home & I thought they did a good job. Well I got cut after this last gel manicure which they applied some green numbing liquid to stop bleeding I guess? Now I've got a painful infection & I won't go back. Update 3/25: my tiny infection got way worse & ended up at the dr for antibiotics, never had this happen to me before & not fun at all. Just be sure sure that your nail tech is using clean supplies

I went here and they ruined my nails :( I sat for an hour with acetone wrapped nails just to have them file them down until they were paper thin. They put two coats of dip and charged me 50 dollars. The very same day my nails began to crack and break. I called and asked how many layers they're supposed to put on of the dip and she said 3-4.. I told her my situation and she couldn't get me into another appointment until weeks out due to staffing shortages.. yeah right. They also don't put liners in their pedicure bins... gross... I won't be going back. Ever. read more

This is my third visit to MiMi's nails I've been trying to find a new nail salon my first visit Lee Lee did a good job and Helen did an amazing job on my toes. first Lee Lee has a really bad attitude and is always rolling her eyes and seems like it bothers her when I ask questions. Poor customer service! Today I made an appointment for 6pm with the same two nail techs Lee Lee and Helen and some other nail tech was on my feet. She did not follow my instruction and messed up my toenail shape and polish twice. She had an attitude when I asked her to take the polish off and redo the nail again along with the shape. I HATE THE WAY SHE DID MY FEET. I will not be coming back I work hard all week to treat myself to a relaxing treatment and I feel that you should treat the customer with respect and listen to how they want their service done. I am not happy at all and I've tried 3 different times coming here you would think as nice the shop is the people would be nice. read more

I come here because it's a block from my house and the ladies working pedicures are very hard workers but Mimi the owner is very rude! Never friendly or smiles, she plays favorites and demands you pay with cash. One time she told my mom she needed to add the tip. Isn't tip optional? Granted they do a good job, sometimes they don't, nonetheless it shouldn't be demanded. If you don't pay cash she gets mad. I like my pedicures here but will start checking out other places. read more

First time I went in I had explained to the woman I've tried a lot of shops Hayward Oakland Castro valley San Leandro area. The shops I been to my nails either crack or lift. Told her that having to go to the nail shop as many as 3 times a month was very expensive since I do get long nails. Inconvenient waste a whole bunch of time in a chair when people have work and have things to do. Not to mention the gas is ridiculous expensive. At the time of check out I told her hope my nails don't lift or break she said no come in about two three weeks to refill. I walked in last Saturday by Friday afternoon two of my nails had flew off by lifting my pants. I have an office job so this is totally unacceptable don't was dishes at home I have a dishwasher. When I went back in to fix it she asked what can she do for me I told her I was there last Saturday two nails fell off and I told her member I told you last week I'm having problems finding a nail salon where the work is quality. SHE SHRUGGED HER SHOULDERS I asked what does that suppose to mean ? she told me to have a seat at the station. Lady asked if she was just fixing the two nails I said yes these nails ain't even a week this lady SHRUGGED HER SHOULDERS TOO !! I told her that was very rude and disrespectful and she should act like she care about her customers she started to be very rough and hurting me and at that point I was done, I walked out. I wasted time money and gas. This salon like many others just take your money have no pride on what they do bad quality. First time I went lady getting her nails done by Mimi was asking if she was ok braise it's seem like mini was irritated with and attitude. Please please don't go to this shop save yourself this disappointment. I been getting my nails done 16 years and this is the worst experience I've had hands down. read more

First time going here because I moved to Hayward from college. The staff are incredibly sweet and everything is super clean!! So relaxing especially because of COVID. I still believe that this is the best nail salon in my area. Mimi is ALWAYS super nice and my nails always look great. I hadn't been getting them done for a few months due to some other things, but I knew exactly where I was going when I wanted them done again. I dont go anywhere else and never will. I am pretty livid right now. I made an appointment to come in today at 10:30 AM for pedicures for my daughter and I and a full set of acrylics for myself. At least nine employees stood there and stared at us and three in a row asked what we needed help with and the answer was the same every single time. "We have an appointment at 10:30 AM for two pedicures at a full set of acrylics." No one was friendly to my four-year-old child who I was paying to get a service done. Nobody was friendly to me. They did not talk to me. They did not talk to her. We brought in our own colors and topcoat as I do not like to use communal nail polishes. They still use their own topcoat for the both of us. The whole experience was just rude and talking about my daughter in another language and staring at her. I am so pissed right now. read more

Mimi Nails has wonderful people who work there. Mimi is real nice too and they don't try to gip you! They are way better than White Heaven who charges so freaking much then they charge you for the foot massage on top of it. And I had to go to Mimi's to have them fix it. And they didn't charge me too much! I think they felt bad. When you go to Mimi's they know you there! They are really good to their customers all the time. Hope to see you all there soon! read more

I will never go back to this place, as many others have stated MiMi the owner is RUDE AF, snotty stuck up. I came in for a mani/pedi and she kept changing the price of the service, went to pay and shes asking me for a tip, i thought its up to the customer to determine the tip? I tipped the persons that helped me $5 but that wasn't enough for money hungry mimi, she started gossiping about me with her workers, ew. The mani and pedi were okay nothing spectacular. read more

This is an all around good nail shop...I come from the EXTREMELY CLEAN....ORGANIZED....quick but not too quick gel pedicures ... they have great color selection and more than one brand of colors...pleasant staff...and COVID to state requirements have been a must from the start ... I went to go get my nails done for my cousin wedding on sat...I went in on a Thursday to get nails and feet done.. I didn't shave but only lifted my pants to a certain level...because I hadn't shave because of the wedding...I had on girl doing my legs and and lady doing my hands.. I believe it was the owner she was doing my shellac nail polish on my other hand...when you have one lady doing your nails on my side and another doing your feet.. you are trying to relax..The Manger I'm guessing started raising her voice PUT HAND IN!!! Then the most Is embarrassing part the girl who was doing my feet lifted up my pant leg a little more ..The Manger or owner..looked down and said really loud GROSS!! I love my new dip powder nails! Mimi always delivers the best service. I was looking to get something more natural for my nails because I just had a baby and was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with my acrylics. She suggested the new dip powder service and I LOVE THEM! They feel a lot more natural and they're just as tough as my acrylics. Thanks, Mimi! I came here to get a pedicure and they had me wait for almost a hour just to tell me when it was my time that since I'm a "new customer" which I am not & have been there plenty of times before that they only take cash on Sunday's! I offered Venmo, cash app & they still wouldn't see me. There isn't any sign up that states they only take cash on Sundays & this would have been useful information when I first got there before sticking around for 45 mins!!!!! Walked in for a shellac mani at 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon - it was a ghost town! I was promptly seated and given a huge assortment of colors to choose from. Rose (I think that was her name) started my mani and was very gentle throughout the whole thing. She took her time and was very attentive to my cuticles; all in all, I was in and out of the salon in an hour! 4 stars because I'm skeptical on how long this shellac mani will last. Here's to hoping that it stays longer than a week! read more

I appreciate that Mimi's was able to take us in on such short notice to give my partner and I pedicures, however the overall experience was nothing delightful. They rushed through the pedicure as fast as they could only to help kick us out of the big cozy massage chair and have us sit up front. There were no customers waiting and plenty of available seats. The total time from start to finish was about 30 minutes for their "signature" pedicure. I wasn't even allowed to turn on my massage chair at any time because it "shook too much". When we left, no one even said goodbye. It's a shame because I really do value good service and had they done a better job caring for their customers, they would've received what we usual tip (30-40%) for pedicures. We like to get pedicures once a month and will not be coming back here. I advise all of you to spend your money elsewhere, where you're going to have a better experience. read more

Love Mimi's nails!! She put cute little Christmas tree and snow flakes on my toes and fingers. She did a nice salt scrub pedicure and sanded my heel which was so needed! I can't say enough good things about her shop!! Also I bring my 3 year old grandbaby sometimes and they paint her toes!! She loves it! read more

Got a shellac manicure exactly 1 week ago. They started chipping a couple days ago. I went to get them fixed and Mimi rudely stated that I was never there because they do not have this color! Excuse you?! Will not be returning. I liked this place other than the fact that they are rude if you don't have cash, but Mimi seems to be running her customers away. The speed of service was great. I was in and out in 25 minutes. I'm a toddler mum so time is everything. Nails look nice too. I gave a 2 because the lady doing my nails who may be the owner was rude rude to me. Because she was going fast she kept on nicking me and said it was my fault for twitching. It was as if she was doing me a favor. I think I may have just been unfortunate however I will not be back. Let me take my hard earned money where I'm treated professionally. Update: I went back thinking that maybe it was just a bad day but I got the same treatment. I wanted a mani pedi and they got the pedi done then sent me away for mani because their other clients had arrived. I wish they said at the beginning that they couldn't do both then I could have gone elsewhere. For sure my last time. read more

Went in at 9 AM to do a walk-in for a gel fill and they asked if I could come back because they have appointments at 9 AM. When I pointed out that it was 9:04 they said something to each other and then said "Come back later!" The whole point that someone would come in when they're just open is so they can get their service right away. My suggestion is that this shop just change to "By Appointment Only" or that they just tell people when they come in that they're are only seeing appointments this morning instead of letting people tell them what service they want then to just turn them away. read more

Mimi and her ladies are always awesome. They give great services and are reasonably priced. I live about 3 hours away, and come back just to come here. Oh, AND THEY'RE AMAZING WITH KIDS. I know it seems odd to bring a 3 year old along for something relaxing, but they do her nails, are very patient and they give her lots of attention (which of course, she loves.) Today Mimi did my nails with Dip Powder and they look better than any French manicure I've ever had. Thanks to all at Mimi's for everything!!! read more

I posted a final photo of the work done on my toes as you can see how messy and and honestly just not good work at all. The person who did my nails was a male Vietnamese guy. Honestly, I was so annoyed by the end of it because he was cleaning the sides of my nails and since he was so busy talking literally cut my skin cause he was using the tool and looking behind him while talking to everyone else. I also had to ask him to clean the sides of my nails just so its not filled with skin that he had already cut up. So when he applied the nail polish I waited to see what else he was going to do because I can see how messy it was. Once it was dry the picture below was the result of this mediocre work. I think they're only good for their manicure which I haven't tried but it appears that's majority of their photos on their yelp.

Before going to Mimi's, I'd go to a salon and ask for glitter tipped nails and they'd try and paint them on me instead of using acrylics. Or, they'd take 90 minutes to do a full set. Or they'd be crooked, or fall off within a day or two. After trying about six local salons with disasterous results, I was about to never get my nails done professionally again. And then I tried Mimi... First off, she took me immediately, without an appointment. SHE did - the owner. And every time I've returned, she's done the same. It makes me feel special and I dig it. Second, the woman is faster than fast could be fast! I've read some people complain about that in their reviews, but it's one of my very favorite things about her! She can give me a full set of acrylic nails with glittery tips in 30 minutes!!! That's three minutes a finger! Honestly, I can't imagine why that wouldn't rank as the most important thing about her to everyone, but to each their own, I guess. Thirdly, the nails she puts on me look like a million bucks. I get compliments on them ALL the time. Never got any compliments on my nails when they were done at those other lame salons - that's fer sure. Fourthly, the nails she puts on me STICK. I can wear them for three weeks sometimes before the first one breaks off. That's an impressive improvement over 24 hours. SO, when it comes to getting a full set of nails, I'll ONLY go to Mimi. Not any of her workers, only Mimi. True, her personality is a bit brusque and she charges a little more than the other places I've been, but as far as I'm concerned, she's worth it. I went to this place twice. First time the experience was ok, the staff was not to friendly but were extremely quick and efficient. I usually get a simple manicure (just shape and polish literally since they're my natural nails) and a pedicure once a month (but wasn't getting one this time). I came in and was told 30 minutes wait time so I said ok and decided to wait. I figured 30 min for wait and 30 for the manicure is an hour and not too bad. Not until the 30 minutes were up and one lady came in way after me and went on ahead of me, then more time passes another girl comes in and the same happens. When the owner saw a look on my face, she said oh she had an appt. Ok well maybe she did have an appt but I was told 30 minute wait time and at this point it was 45 min wait . And worse of all, all this time I was completely ignored! For some reason I seem to think that it had a lot to do with the fact that my manicure costs $15 and the other two ladies who came in after me had both manicure and pedicures done, which may be the reason they were offered the service and seat before. Finally I had enough of the ignored wait, so I stood up said thank you and left! She (the owner) tried saying something, I simply walked out and will not come back. I was ignored the entire time and then she had something to say after I had enough of wait for 50 minutes! I usually have my nails done in Alameda every time I am close by. I've had them done there for years, and came to realize if this is what it is, I am willing to drive to Alameda. read more

The owner who sits at the first cube,really has a problem with black women. It's really sad because the way she treats some clients. She's racist, rude, crude, and mean! The way Asians have had so many hate crimes and issue, and has the nerve to do the same toward people who patronize her business! I've lived in this area for the past 30 years and has never been treated the disrespect that I've endured from her. One day she's going to come across the wrong person and end up on tic tok and won't have her business at all! She chess and grin with her yt customers, but remember you're a servant, and if you choose to do certain clients with respect, you don't belong in Castro Valley. It also states that she take cards but she hassles some customers to pay cash only. I wonder why. Yelp MADE me give even the 1 star, HORRIBLE! Have you ever been accused of a fake gift certificate? Well my daughter was! It seems Mimi didn't have her memory straight. MEMORY???? Hhhhhhmmm 2009, they have MUCH BETTER programs then Mimi's memory. When she, finally, did remember I thought she would at least make up for the HUGE error, but instead let's say....................when sliced n diced the first time, RUN, even if the next time it is a gift!! I wanted to like this place, it was by far the cleanest looking of the nail shops in Castro Valley and the girls were nice. However, I really miss the days when I paid $18 for a pedicure that actually lasted more than a week. The massage was ok but she did minimal work on my calluses, which aren't bad at all and should be easy to get rid of. I chose a really pretty red color, but they chipped in less than a week. The ambiance of this salon is great, and I'm sure they are clean, so for that they get 2 stars. But for quality I'd have to say I'm going to keep looking, hopefully I'll find somewhere worth 5 stars in all areas! read more

This is by far the very best nail salon I have ever experienced. Excellence, cleanliness and quality are what you get continuously. It is upsetting to see negative comments about Mimi. She is a funny, but professional person and everyone in the shop is also very professional. They use the highest quality products available. The prices are reasonable. I came in because i needed a fresh acrylic set. I have gotten 100's of acrylic sets and i even practice acrylic myself. they must use mma monomer because throughout the process my nails were BURNING and i mean literally like eye squinting pain. MMA monomer is ILLEGAL in the united states but it is more common in nail salons than you thjnk. I think that the design was perfect but even several days after my nails were sore. read more
