Wow! Where do I start?? My nails were done with precision and care and the quality is amazing. Mimi did my nails and I absolutely loved sitting in her chair. She is so easy to talk to and beyond amazing at what she does. She will forever have a returning customer. Thank you so much Mimi. You have such a beautiful shop with amazing color selections and she also gave insight about the Gel X service beforehand. I appreciate it so much. Thank you.
The staff was really nice initially but I went in thinking I could get a quick french tip & the owner convinced me to get these cute sparkles instead. I'm guessing to try and hide the shape. I kept asking for square and instead I received these oblong looking nails. If you're looking for quality service keep looking because I was also rushed out of my chair, only to be met with a push to pay for cash after I repeatedly stated I don't have enough to pay with cash.
On Thursday 09/12/24 was my first time coming to this business. Unfortunately I should've just went to another establishment. My experience at this nail salon was NOT PLEASANT. When I arrived I wasn't greeted I was just asked what I needed done. Before being sat down at the chair to get my feet done I used the restroom and a worker was sitting on the floor eating her lunch right next to the restroom, red flag. That was very unsanitary and unethical. The owner should have designated areas for her employees to eat. The owner clearly doesn't give a dam to have her workers sit on the floor to eat near the bathroom. While the owner ate at an empty nail table. This place looks super cheap inside they tried to make it look expensive but completely looks cheap! From the old drapes and chandler. The service I requested was 1 gel pedicure and 1 gel manicure. No type of conversations between the ladies giving me the nail service. First, the woman doing my feet was new and I was a trial/experiment. She had NO CLUE what to do. The woman doing my manicure constantly told her what to do. I told her from the beginning I wanted my toe nails clipped a tinny bit as my toe nails were grown out and I like them left longer. I asked her to shape my toe nails into square. She stated she understood. As I am looking at the other woman doing my manicure the lady doing my feet cuts my toe nails SO SHORT! And I tell her that I asked for her to clip a tiny bit. She ignored me. I know my feet and I like what I like. My thing is if she didn't know what I meant she should've clarified. Now I'm stuck with short uneven toes nails. I told her she cut to short and she tried to do better on my other foot. The lady who did my gel manicure did good. She gave me a massage after doing my manicure. I've never received that at any salon. I was definitely in pain the next morning she was extremely ROUGH. As I am paying the owner Mimi asked if I was leaving a tip on my card I said yes $5. She's said "only $5 but what about the other girl" I said look at my feet they are uneven you want me to leave a tip for someone who didn't follow instructions? Then she stated she would fix my toes I stated to her "HOW CAN YOU FIX MY TOE NAILS THEY HAVE BEEN CUT ALREADY ARE YOU GOING TO GLUE THEM BACK ON? She went silent and I paid and left very unhappy. Mimi should've done better handling this situation she failed as business owner. As an owner you should handle this in a better manner instead of giving a customer attitude. Not one bit did I give her attitude even though I was NOT happy with her worker's service. Today is Sunday and the gel manicure is already chipping. JUST HORRIBLE. I paid $75 for gel 1 manicure and 1 pedicure. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. There are multiple negative reviews about this place. No care for clients wants and needs. Do me a favor and don't waste your money with this garbage business.
I found my new go to nail spot! Theyre super close to me and have THE BEST staff. Everyone is so well trained, the facility is clean and nice, the treatment that come with your service are great. I got a gel mani/pedi which came out to about $78 for both. The color selection was incredible. Theyre very thorough with all their work. What surprised me was at the end of the service, they even gave you a MASSAGE. Like a legit massage!! Even aside from the massage chairs! One time I called in super late 15 mins before they closed and they STILL TOOK ME. Theyre really super nice, caring, and I'll definitely frequent them more often
Had to take one star off because one of my nails came off in 5 days and I wasn't doin any hard labor :(
My grandmother has been coming here for years. I tag along occasionally and haven't had a bad experience. It's a typical salon with typical service. However, after my grandmothers triple bypass, and watching how careful they were with her, how caring, how much they helped her in and out of the chair, how they listened so intently to her, I decided to make the drive to bring her here as often as possible. I had the best pedicure today, and found my new favorite lady! It's clean, the bathroom is clean, the chairs are nice and the ladies are awesome. There are a ton of nail salons in CV, but if you come here more than once, chances are Mimi remembers your name.

Mimi is the best! I've been coming here for 16 years and she has never disappointed. Her team is efficient, clean, and extremely accommodating. I took my mom in today for her birthday nails and we had a great experience as always. If you have not been here you must make a point to do so! read more

Mimi's nail salon is the best in Castro Valley! I have been to many different nail shops over the last 20 years and Mimi's is my favorite! The shop is always clean, the staff is always friendly and professional, and Mimi makes you feel very welcome. I get manies and pedies when I visit, and I always leave with beautiful, quality nails! There is a delicious smelling scrub that they use on my legs that smells and feels AMAZING! You can always count on a quality massage with both manicure and pedicure, so rejuvenating! The shop is decorated so beautifully! Currently Mimi has it decorated for fall and it's so pretty. I feel so relaxed when I visit, it truly is like a little vacation getting pampered at Mimi's. Every time I visit, the girls are always so kind and respectful. Thank you so much Mimi and ladies for always taking such good care of me! You are the BEST! read more

I came to Mimi Nails with my sister and unfortunately we had a very uncomfortable experience. From the beginning she asked us what kind of nails we wanted in a rude manner. My sister explained what she wanted but she kept suggesting something different. Even after my sister said no she continued pushing her suggestion instead of respecting what my sister wanted. She started doing my manicure first because she said she was the only one who could do hard gel. While doing my nails she was handling my hands and nails very aggressively to the point where I was worried she was going to cut my skin. I also noticed that some of my nails looked uneven and off center so I politely pointed it out to her. Instead of listening to my concern she became defensive and sounded angry. She told me she was trying her best but could not fix it because the problem was my natural nails. She also told me that she had been doing nails for 35 years. At that point I became too uncomfortable to continue and asked her to stop. The photos I posted are how my nails looked when I decided to stop the service. They are not photos of a completed manicure. I did not want her to finish because of how aggressively she was doing my nails and how rude and defensive she became when I expressed my concerns. After I asked her to stop she told me that I still had to pay her because I had wasted her time. I understand that someones time and work are valuable but as a customer I should also be able to speak up when I am uncomfortable with a service without being treated rudely. I did not stop the appointment for no reason. I stopped because I no longer felt comfortable allowing her to continue working on my nails. After leaving I went to Golden Nails and the difference in how I was treated was amazing. They were very welcoming nice and understanding about what happened. They were able to fix the problems with my nails and they did not even charge me for fixing them. I am extremely thankful for their kindness and for making me feel comfortable after such an unpleasant experience. I am sharing my experience because customers should feel comfortable communicating with their nail technician especially when something does not look right or they are experiencing discomfort. Unfortunately I did not feel listened to or respected at Mimi Nails and I chose to leave rather than continue a service that made me uncomfortable. read more

I can always count on Mimi to do a superb job on my nails. She's been doing my nails for 15 years (hard to believe it's been that long) so that speaks volumes because let's be honest ladies, and gentlemen, we're picky about our manicure and will go somewhere else if we're not happy. Mimi makes me happy and my nails always look fabulous, I get compliments constantly. read more

I found this spot closer to home & I thought they did a good job. Well I got cut after this last gel manicure which they applied some green numbing liquid to stop bleeding I guess? Now I've got a painful infection & I won't go back. Update 3/25: my tiny infection got way worse & ended up at the dr for antibiotics, never had this happen to me before & not fun at all. What a find! After much searching I've found my go to nail spot in the area! I called late on a Friday afternoon and they were able to squeeze me in before close. I've driven by this salon many times and am glad to have finally stopped in. Prices were fair, ambiance is super cute, and the massages were the best I've had in the area! They're also big enough that you can squeeze in on relatively short notice, but not so big you feel like you're on a human conveyor belt. Kelly and Fanny were super professional and took great care in making me feel great and my nails look great. Love this place and look forward to coming back regularly! read more

I've came to Mimi's for a couple years on and off. Recently I came back in and remembered why I liked it so much. It's got a nice scenery, the women are polite, the work is clean! I love my nails I came in with a healed cut and they were very gentle and careful incase it bothered me. A couple years ago I even came in after a car crash for like 6 months straight every two weeks and they brought my nails/ foot and leg back to life. I missed it here. I do suggest cash for tip. I've worked in a nail salon before so keep in mind tip is close to half their income so them asking for cash is understandable. I don't think many people appreciate nail spas and what they do just like hair salons. Mimi's takes care of you though, thank you ladies! read more

I see why they have 3 stars ,, service was awful . My 9 year daughter had a pedicure and polish on her nails ., I had a deluxe pedicure and wanted a manicure but they didn't have the nude color I wanted ,, they wrapped my nails in acetone to soak off polish,, they did my pedicure and my daughter toes and nails and still had my nails wrapped I know it doesn't take this long to soak off gel all I wanted was to soak off and buff I was going to wear them natural . All this time pass I had fallen asleep because I just got off of work., and still they didn't get to my nails ., and then you have the nerve to ask about a TIP ,,, I'm not tipping you for your poor customer service and I left with my nails looking like this , I won't be back too many nail salons to settle for this kind of service. read more

First time at the salon. My boyfriend and I got pedicures. And I got my nails done. The nail salon seemed very popular with the locals and loyal customers. Mimi, the owner, was very kind and cheerful. She knew the customers by name. The salon was very well decorated. My favorite part is the lit up nail polish shelves. You can see it in the background of one of my photo. What I enjoy the most is the atmosphere, all the nail techs were very kind, and there were many of them all dressed in scrubs. read more

I have been going to Mimi's nail for quite sometime now and always has been an amazing experience. I went with my in law today and she got the dip powder for her first time and both loved the outcome of it. Mimi understood the assignment and she was super fast too! read more
