They pay close attention to details and do a great job cleaning cuticles and calluses. Their polish stays on for weeks- even regular polish. After going once, they recognized me when I returned and even asked how my daughter was doing as I went without her the 2nd visit. Only feedback is that the ambiance is nothing fancy but the outcome is excellent! read more

I had a deluxe pedicure with Marlene yesterday, whom I had just met, and she did not disappoint. She went above and beyond with my calluses and was very thorough when applying the polish, making sure there was no residue left around my toes. However, I can't say I was pleased with my gel manicure. I didn't ask for her name because I felt I wouldn't need to request her in the future. The manicure itself was mediocre, but what really upset me was that the polish was applied onto the skin around every one of my fingers--each and every one. read more

I booked a pedicure 2 pedicure myself with TINA and my 8 yrs old with TIANA . Let me tell you TINA is absolutely amaizing!! I've been doing pedicure for over 15 yrs and never had it done like this. Attention to detail she even pointed out my ingrown before I told her and that to me is a WIN !! I will be booking with her from now on !!! My 8 yrs enjoyed it so much. Tiana has great attention to detail too and gave a great massage according to my 8 yr old. read more

I'm going to post a pic of my feet...I know, weird but Holly did such a great job I had to share. She took her time smoothing, shaping, polishing and cleaning up my feet. Nice massage at the end. Anyhow, it took about an hour and I don't know about you but I totally enjoy long pedis. The salon is small, clean and people kept coming in. Will definitely be back read more

I came here with a design style in mind to get my nails done for my wedding. Jon did an amazing job. He just looked at the inspiration photo and was able to replicate it. I'd say he literally "nailed it!". Best to make an appointment as they are pretty busy during the week and on weekends. read more

I hate to have to do this to any local business. I was on a search for a local nail salon in the area since moving to Castro Valley. I was leaving for the weekend to a friend's wedding, so I was on a search to get a gel manicure (first time since covid started)! Made an appointment the day before and arrived to find out they hadn't written down the appointment. No big deal since there was only a few people inside. From when I walked in to when the lady finished with my gel manicure, it took less than 30 minutes! Way faster than I had ever had a manicure take. I didn't want to make a scene, but the polish (since it's a light color) needed more than 2 layers. Also, the application was done unevenly. I was a bit annoyed that the lady filed my nails crooked when I had asked her to make them square shaped. The gel manicure didn't even last a week. Definitely won't be back... time to keep looking for a go-to place. read more

John is the MAN. He is truly an artist and is so kind. I get gel Nail polish on my natural nail and haven't had any problems! The parking is pretty weird, you either have to park on the street or in a parking lot in the back of the building that I don't think is technically allowed. read more

$30 pedicure is standard pricing it seems and they did a very solid job on my toes. Although I wish the calf massage was more than just spreading lotion on my legs. But overall the nail cutting cleaning and paint job is holding up well. read more

I saw Tina and her staff years ago, and when I moved to Hayward, I stopped coming. Today, my normal place was booked and I really needed a last minute dip mani, and gel pedi for my engagement party this weekend. I had an "ah ha" moment and called Lena's. They accommodated my last minute appointment, and I'm so glad they did! Tina did an excellent job on my dip mani. Perfect shape, and the entire process was just on point. I've been getting dip for a couple years now, and these were definitely one of my best sets yet. Loved my pedi too. Everything was just excellent! Will be coming back again, from now on. read more

New owner is awful. Went there for a 9am pedi appointment, and sat there for 45min. They acted like I was just there waiting. Seems like they just book you just to lure you in, no accountability with their appointments . No acknowledgment no sorry, and didn't even gives a sh** when I walked out. Wasted my Saturday morning. My bestie was in town and we were dying for a pampering self care moment. Luckily Lena's was able to take us as walk-ins graciously and served up some great nails! I loved the color selection (I got a regular polish mani/pedi) and friend got gel. Everything was clean and they're very skilled. I felt very well taken care of and comfortable. I can always count on Lena's for a great and affordable pedicure. I often see Marlene and she does an excellent job. In fact, this review is mainly for her. I went to a young woman who was really nice but her pedicures weren't as great as Marlene's. She does a fantastic job with cuticles and a great massage, too. Took a chance in trying out this nail salon for the 1st time. Came in as a walk in without appointment. Needed to have old gel polish removed and wanted gel pedicure. I was happy they were able to fit me in, I like the color I selected and looked like they had a good selection of colors to choose from. I just wasn't satisfied to go back again because they didn't have any massage chairs, and they didn't apply polish to the entire toe nail. read more

Pros: - affordable prices ($28 for gel mani, $25 for regular pedi, $5 extra for French tip) - fast service if you get basic stuff - ladies were nice and didn't talk smack Cons: - so fast that the work is sloppy - not the cleanest or most relaxing place - located on a busy street with little street parking (there is a lot nearby but gets full quick) Just moved to CV and was looking for a local nail salon. I did both a mani and pedi, and was out in an hour which is the fastest I've ever experienced. Maybe it's because I'm biased and have other favorites in Palo Alto/Mountain View area... but there is a balance between time spent and skillset: sometimes too fast means a sloppy job and that's what happened here. A younger woman did my pedicure and I can see the side nails on my toes... The older lady with the bangs did my French manicure and blamed the varying widths of white on my small nails... She also did not clean my cuticles very well and my nails are different lengths. Overall a sloppy job and I won't be coming back. read more

Lena's is a hidden gem in Castro Valley. Yes, the massage chairs and decor aren't modern like newer salons, but it didn't take away from my experience today. I booked a gel pedicure over the phone. When I arrived I was seated right away. They have plenty of gel colors to choose from. My basic pedicure included a scrub, massage, and hot towels. The woman that did my pedicure took her time, which was appreciated. Their prices are cheaper compared to local salons. I found my new spot for pedicures! read more

I have been going to Lena's for more than 15 years. I believe this is the third owner they have had now. The salon looks better than it ever has, painted a nice color. Adding more pedicure chairs was a great idea, he moved the nail stations all together. Tina has been doing my nails this entire time, she is great!!!!! This place is alright. I got a regular pedicure for $35. Gave the lady $40. Like that the lady wasn't pushy or thirsty for a tip like Ana Nails down the street. It was around 2pm so it was empty, just me. Relaxing and quiet. read more

I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try after reading the reviews. I truly enjoyed my mani/pedi service here. I came on a Tues morning and it was only me there. The owner Thao was very friendly. Jeanette (?) took her time and was very detailed in what she was doing and I appreciated that. I did not felt rushed. Marlene is also very good with pedicure - I thank her for making my feet smooth again after wearing sandals for two weeks on a vacation. Parking is limited - they share a small parking lot in the back but be careful to not park on the wrong side or your car will be towed. I suggest parking on the street to be on the safe side. They have a variety of nail polish colors to choose from - OPI, Shellac, Essie, etc... The cleaniless of this place is acceptable. I am in and out in about an hour for basic mani/pedi. They tag team and work together. read more

This place was great! First off, they were really accommodating and quickly fit my friend and I into their schedule. I never know what I want when I head to a nail salon so luckily they had a lot of choices for me to look through. I found a previous yelper's photo and asked to get the exact same set. They were able to select the colors for me which was great since I suck at picking and choosing. We didn't have to wait long before it was our turn. There's many people working there and they are pretty quick. We were in and out in about 30 minutes and were able to squeeze in a quick lunch afterwards! Everyone there was friendly and chatted with us as we got our nails done. For my gel manicure is was $25 which is a pretty good price! All in all... I really like my nails LOL so I quickly jumped on here to leave a review! read more

I called to get booked in right away and they allowed me to come in 15 mins after I called to set appt. Place is compact but tidy. They practice social distancing and clients don't sit next to each other and face masks are required to come. They also have the plastic boards between themselves and you. Gel pedicure & a ombré manicure. Mani and pedi were both great and they make sure you are satisfied with the work. read more

Unfortunately, my experiences on 7/1 and 7/29 have left me seriously considering taking my business elsewhere. Both times, I booked my appointment online and specifically requested my preferred technician. When I arrived on 7/1, I was told, "She's not working today," and was assigned to another technician instead. I did not have a positive experience with that appointment, but I let it go and assumed it was a one-time issue. I scheduled another appointment with my preferred technician for 7/29. When I arrived, I was told once again that she was not working and was being passed to another technician. What was even more disappointing was the interaction that followed when I expressed my disappointment about this happening twice in the same month. The owner was dismissive and told me that my preferred technician has had Wednesdays off "for two years already" and that I should have known. She also stated that I didn't understand what she told me during my previous visit. However, when someone says, "She's not working today," most people would reasonably interpret that to mean she is unavailable that day, not that she never works Wednesdays. That information was never clearly communicated to me. If this technician truly does not work Wednesdays, the online booking system should reflect that. As of the time I am writing this review, the website still shows availability for her on future Wednesdays, allowing customers to book appointments that apparently cannot be honored. What bothered me most was the lack of accountability and empathy. In my experience with other service providers, whether salons, massage therapists, or instructors, if the person you booked with is unavailable, the business contacts you beforehand so you can decide whether to keep the appointment with someone else or reschedule. Instead, Aesthetic Nails' process appears to be confirming appointments by text, having customers arrive for their scheduled appointment, and only then informing them that their requested technician is unavailable before assigning them to someone else. I didn't raise the issue on 7/1, but after it happened again on 7/29, I felt it was important to bring it to management's attention. Unfortunately, my concerns were met with a dismissive attitude rather than an effort to understand or resolve the situation. If you don't have a preference for a particular technician and are comfortable being reassigned upon arrival, Aesthetic Nails may still work well for you. However, if booking with a specific technician is important to you, my experience is that the online scheduling system and communication process may not be reliable or a positive experience.

Sam herself is super sweet and easy to talk to. She recently went solo with her business, so it's just her now--and honestly, I love that. It's chill, one-on-one, and you can tell she really cares about quality. She has a gorgeous selection of colors and uses high-end products, which I think is why everything lasts so long. The first time I went, my nails were in sad shape and I honestly didn't think they'd bounce back. A month later? I've got legit nails I'm proud to show off. I called ahead of time to ask what time they close, in which the guy told me 10pm. I told them I'd be there at 6:45pm, and when I did get there, I patiently waited 45 mins to be seated in a chair. I asked if they could do a 3D design on my nails (which I had asked over the phone), and they said they could, but by the time I was seated, and I showed one of the techs what I wanted, she said they stop doing designs at 7pm. I was very frustrated because I could have gone somewhere else if I knew I couldn't get the birthday nails I wanted, but at that point it was too late. So I found a more simple look, in which they agreed they would do. Holly did amazing on my pedicure, but by the time they got to my manicure, I could tell they were rushing. I'm a very understanding and kind person. I honestly wish I had just canceled the manicure. They didn't even prep my nails (i.e. remove my cuticles). The cherry on top was how expensive it was for such a poor job -- $150 . I feel so taken advantage of honestly, and it's a really bad start to my birthday now. She even forgot to put a top coat on my left hand and I can tell the difference.

I decided to get French tip but I normally just get solid colors or clear. I didn't like how the tip looked on my hands and she immediately asked if I wanted to change. I decided to keep it since I think it'll grow on me and it would be easy to remove since it's regular polish. Will definitely come again just to get my cuticles cleaned up and clear polish!

I had an enjoyable, quiet experience ( whenever I wasn't yapping!) and it was refreshing to be able to communicate exactly what I wanted for my nail shape, color, etc. My toes look so pretty! Was able to book online with a reservation which was also a bonus. Definitely recommend and will be back!

First, I was shocked that a basic kids' pedicure for my 8-year-old son cost $27. All they did was trim and clean his nails, followed by a short leg massage. That price seems extremely high for such a simple service, and there was never any discussion of pricing beforehand. The biggest issue, though, was my own nails. I paid about $55 for my gel manicure--$35 for gel polish, plus an additional $20 for a French tip and a small Mickey design. When I woke up the very next morning, less than 24 hours later, the entire gel polish had already peeled completely off one of my thumbnails. The French tip and Mickey design on other nails were also already lifting and peeling. I've never had a gel manicure fail this quickly. If I lived closer and didn't have to drive across the bridge, I would absolutely return to request a full refund because this level of quality is unacceptable. Between my dad, my two kids, and me, we spent close to $500, so we expected much better workmanship. My daughter's nails actually turned out great, so this review is strictly about the quality of my nails. One other thing that bothered me was my dad's pedicure. The staff kept offering him additional services during the appointment, and he kept saying yes without realizing each one came with an extra charge. By the end, his pedicure totaled over $100 plus tip. I really think pricing for add-on services should be clearly explained before they're performed so customers can make informed decisions. I've attached photos showing my thumbnail the morning after my appointment, along with photos I took the night before. It's incredibly disappointing to spend this much money and have a gel manicure start peeling in less than 24 hours.

The nail removal took less than 10 minutes while the polish took around 45-50 minutes. After leaving Lee's nails, I left feeling that my nails were clean and well taken care of. I highly recommend Lee's Nails if you're in the Castro Valley area. It was a very clean nail salon and they even have phone holders. I have been here twice now and have not had favorable experiences. Both trips were for fills. The first time the full was fine but the gel was poor quality. After repeatedly asking to fix it I ended up leaving with streaks in the gel. This last time it was an issue with the fill. After telling the women multiple times that I wanted the nails thinner, I left with bubbles nails that are now twice as thick than when I went in. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will not be returning. read more

i have been to most of the nail places around CV and I will say with no doubt that Lena's nails do the best job!! I have had acrylic nails, manicures, and pedicures. Leans nails is a great nail shop. They remember your name. They are busy around 4pm. There is only 3 people working there so you have to wait. They do a good job with nails and pedicures, they have much better service than all the other salons I've been too, ov coarse no shop is perfect but this is my favorite. read more

My absolute favorite salon to visit in the Bay Area! The ladies are so friendly and are quick to remember names, which makes their greeting much more personable. However, I stuck with my decision with getting French to look clean for a potential interview in the following week. She said she can try French on a finger and let me decide if I want to continue. I asked for thicker line but she told me it wouldn't look good thicker, and that most people do thin. I have to admit that I most likely won't return for French nails, but a gel manicure is fine. Be advised she doesn't use alcohol and a brush tool to give you the perfect clean white top...& just wings it using the nail polish brush (hence the results). FYI Gel French mani is +$5 which wasn't mentioned until it was time to pay and I asked for the breakdown. I did appreciate her attention to my bottom foot callus when she was lotioning my foot. I told her I used to run a lot and that sucker formed. She took her tool and started clipping it off. Thank you, Linda! **update on my nails 13days later...
