On Castro Valley Blvd. next to the old Mei Mei's grocery store is Lena's Nails. The intent was to get a pedicure($30) & a gel manicure($32) on a Sat.morning w/a call & I was able to do so, since it wasn't too busy. Service was attentive & I got to speak with I believe the owner who had been there for 16 years so it made the experience more memorable. Since I don't want a gel pedicure I opted for a regular lacquer nail polish. The polish was a bit old & gooey but she added a few drops of nail polish thinner & it worked. My daughter had a gel manicure & she mentioned the color she chose also has that issue. I guess when you have so many options to choose from there are bond to be bottles that don't get regularly used. The experience was pleasant for my pedicure, but I would suggest making an appt.w/the younger male nail specialist for details on your manicure. It seems like he has a keen eye for details. Visiting Lena's Nail was a quick & efficient experience so if you don't have an appt.then walk in's seem welcomed here.
Perfect French tip nails I asked for a shorter white tip I think they look great glad I got them done and now my nails look nice and manicured :)
I really enjoyed my pedicure here recently, Lena did a very good job with the cuticles, cut, and cleaning. Massage was very relaxing, and the color lasts the way it should. I will definitely return.
I came here with a design style in mind to get my nails done for my wedding. Jon did an amazing job. He just looked at the inspiration photo and was able to replicate it. I'd say he literally "nailed it!". Best to make an appointment as they are pretty busy during the week and on weekends.

I hate to have to do this to any local business. I was on a search for a local nail salon in the area since moving to Castro Valley. I was leaving for the weekend to a friend's wedding, so I was on a search to get a gel manicure (first time since covid started)! Made an appointment the day before and arrived to find out they hadn't written down the appointment. No big deal since there was only a few people inside. From when I walked in to when the lady finished with my gel manicure, it took less than 30 minutes! Way faster than I had ever had a manicure take. I didn't want to make a scene, but the polish (since it's a light color) needed more than 2 layers. Also, the application was done unevenly. I was a bit annoyed that the lady filed my nails crooked when I had asked her to make them square shaped. The gel manicure didn't even last a week. Definitely won't be back... time to keep looking for a go-to place.
I saw Tina and her staff years ago, and when I moved to Hayward, I stopped coming. Today, my normal place was booked and I really needed a last minute dip mani, and gel pedi for my engagement party this weekend. I had an "ah ha" moment and called Lena's. They accommodated my last minute appointment, and I'm so glad they did! Tina did an excellent job on my dip mani. Perfect shape, and the entire process was just on point. I've been getting dip for a couple years now, and these were definitely one of my best sets yet. Loved my pedi too. Everything was just excellent! Will be coming back again, from now on.

Have been coming here for years and they are so polite, friendly, and welcoming! I always have to get pedi every time I go and I tried out this pink iridescent sparkle gel nails ! Love how they help me pick out colors too ! I would highly recommend them! read more

I called to get booked in right away and they allowed me to come in 15 mins after I called to set appt. Place is compact but tidy. They practice social distancing and clients don't sit next to each other and face masks are required to come. They also have the plastic boards between themselves and you. Gel pedicure & a ombré manicure. Mani and pedi were both great and they make sure you are satisfied with the work. read more

Thao was wonderful! I walked in today and thankfully she had time for me (she advises making an appointment normally) I'd had a bad gel polish experience at a different salon in the city and Thao here at Lena's worked hard to carefully remove the gel polish without damaging my natural nails. Clean and cozy (small but not too small). Decent parking. Great prices and an AMAZING polish selection. I will definitely be back for a mani/pedi! read more

I recently came here to get a full acrylic set and a pedicure for my one year anniversary and was a little nervous since I'd never been before, however I'd read a ton of positive reviews of Tina and booked an appointment with her specifically. I asked for pink and white French ombré acrylics with one accent nail and she gave me exactly what I asked for - my nails were shaped perfectly and weren't too thick or chunky like a lot of people do them. Tina was very communicative and friendly and made sure i got exactly what I was asking for. My pedicure was a clear pink coat with a sparkly tip and the lady who did those was also very attentive - not to mention the lotion they rub your legs with smells like creamsicle heaven. I will definitely be a new regular customer and can't thank Tina enough for these incredible nails! I've gotten so many compliments from friends. read more

Just over a week, my gel nail polish just lifts off! What a waste of my money. The lady who did my nails is the same lady on the pics from this salon who did mine. She's very Agreessive when working on my nails, not gental at all! Think it never put primer over my tips before applying gel or who knows if polish was gel!! Well I just peeled all 10 fingers polish off last night after I saw them peeling n lifting up! Gel shouldn't just come off that easily. I didn't even use any tools, just my fingers and pulled them up....wow! Cheap gel or no gel?? Owner of this salon pls reply cuz I'm just curious how I paid 4 Gel but not get proper service read more

Pedicures are GREAT! I've been coming here for awhile! manicures are good if you don't get the girl who hurts your fingers, I don't know her name but she is younger! So if it starts to hurt while the lady is doing nails, ask for someone else and you will be fine. read more

In and out in 22 mins flat for a gel manicure. While I appreciate the speed the final product definitely shows. Nail polish was left all over my cuticles, and hands -seriously! They just don't seem as though they care very much about the quality they are putting out. They were nice, however. But I definitely would not recommend as you can tell from the pics.... ugh. read more

It was last minute walk-in They checked in on me and was welcoming. Nails turned out great but not the length I wanted it was short and more of almond shaped but I wanted coffin. It looked good though and another thing they took a longggg time. I was there for about 2 hours and a half smh read more

They were so nice in allowing me to come in the same time my mom had an appointment when I called the same day. Tao was very thorough throughout the whole appointment, making sure to check if I liked the shape of my nails and that all sides of my nail had polish on it. Will be coming back here again! read more
I don't think I'll be coming back here. The service was just ok. No attempt at a conversation whatsoever. The lady doing my pedicure spoke like 5 words to me and just pointed at things and tapped my feet to direct me what to do. She looked annoyed the moment we walked in. Never even asked if I was ok or if the water temp was fine. Strange. At least the lady who helped my son asked how he was doing. read more

My teenage daughter has decided she wants nails and found Lena's through Yelp. I've taken her three times now and each visit we've had consistently good service and have been very happy with the finished product. We've learned that although they do accept walk-ins, it's best if you make an appointment when going in on a Saturday. read more

This was my second time at Lena's and I was once again super pleased. I had to get a gel mani and brow wax before heading out of town. The ladies were quick and efficient without rushing. I opted for a regular pedi and gel mani. I loved the color options! All of the technicians pay such close attention to nail shape and getting your cuticles cleaned up. Now for the brow and lip wax: I have been to a variety of esti's over the years and let me say, this was totally great. Not an issue to list. My brows look the same as if I'd left the salon paying 25 bucks for a shaping for less than half of that. My skin was only red for a bit after of course but the calming cream applied after was very helpful. Lena's just does a fabulous job. I tried a place in Hayward that didn't last more than a week and a half before lifting. I will just continue to come here. You can tell the customers are loyal and really love their time spent here. read more

These ladies are the best! So friendly and they always do a stellar job and even though I moved away from the area, I still make the trek here every two weeks to get my nails done here. They are very gentle with your hands and feet and never do I feel rushed through my service. Walk ins are welcome and since I've been going there, they never turned any of them away - even when they are busy, they will manage to squeeze you in or offer a time for you to come back. Tina is a sweetheart and her precision with the gel nails is so great! They also have new polishes in the shop like chrome for an additional fee. Long and shaped nails such as coffin and the pointed shapes are also additional fees but I believe it is just $3. If you are looking for a new place or just moved to this area, I definitely recommend you to give these ladies a call and make an appointment. You will not be disappointed! By the way - credit and debit cards are accepted and you can leave tip amounts on the receipts. I find that very useful knowledge as I do not like to carry cash with me. read more

First of all, I definitely recommend calling ahead to see if they're busy. I usually call ahead to reserve my spot because the 2 times I've walked in, they were full and I had to wait or go somewhere else. This is not a bad thing- they're just that good. Lena's has been my go-to spot in Hayward/Castro Valley because all of the girls do amazing jobs on both manicure and pedicure. So today, I came in for a full set. I got Janet this time and she was absolutely amazing. I showed her a picture of some nails that i found on Twitter and she NAILED it! It was not an easy design, but her attention to detail really pulled the look together. I love how much she paid attention to the little things- smoothing out the edges, the shape, the color, and the even under the nail where some acrylic usually hangs off. She made it all turn out beautiful. Thank you, Janet!! read more

Very good place for a gel manicure. I walked in. They were very nice. It's a small space, but I was lucky enough to get a spot after waiting only 5 minutes. I think my nail tech did a beautiful job. Made my freakin' day. read more

I have nothing but love for this shop! It is so clean and cute inside, everyone loves it. All the employees are so sweet and genuine as well. Tina ALWAYS does my acrylics here and she is truly amazing at what she does. She is extremely patient and makes sure you are always happy with the results. Be sure to make an appointment or call ahead before coming tho, this place is always poppin' and I get lucky if I can set a last minute appointment with anyone here! read more

This is only the third time I have ever gotten my nails done, so I don't know much when it comes to getting your nails done and I get nervous when I go in, but I do know I would never go to this place again. I made an appointment for a French manicure based on pictures I saw on this Yelp page and the reviews that I read. When I went in, I showed the lady doing my nails a picture of what I wanted 3 times. First, I was told $27 for what I wanted (mind you I don't know if that's good or bad since I never get my nails done) but then the lady just decided to do pink and whites on me and said it would look better for $35...she didn't give me the option, just started doing it. The worst part was she was so rough I felt like crying as she went at it on my cuticles and made me bleed on four fingers. She wiped up the blood and acted like it was nothing and never apologized, so if you see blood on that white rag, that would be mine, sorry! Love going here to get a pedicure and manicure with gel nails. I pay $43 for the services and always leave very satisfied with the quality of work they do. I'm really tough on my nails and they always last 2+ weeks. I do recommend going either when they first open or just before they close, or maybe during the week, or making an appointment because they do tend to get busy. read more

A wonderful little nail salon nestled in Castro valley boulevard. Friendly ladies and a clean, quiet salon. Tao did a fantastic job on my nails and Marlene gives a great pedicure. You can't beat $30 for a mani pedi. Spring for the deluxe pedicure + mani. It's totally worth it and you'll still be out the door for under $40! Definitely my new nail spot. read more

I went in after getting a disappointing gel manicure at another nail salon (too long, too thick, unnatural shape). All I wanted was a natural look that would last at least 2-3 weeks. Tina knew exactly what I meant and was able to fix it. It was just how I wanted them. The service was great. You can tell everyone in the salon was experienced. What girl doesn't love to get pampered? My nails turned out really nice and the pedicure was awesome. They are a bit pricey, but I feel it's worth it. While getting a pedicure, you can ask them to turn on the massage chair. OMG, amazing! It feels as if there is an actual person massaging you. I can literally sit in this massage chair all day long. Lena, will definitely try to oversell you, so just say NO if you don't want the extra services. She asks me all the time when I go in to get Pink and White nails or even to get my brows waxed and so forth. I guess everyone tries to make an extra dollar these days. After just a week of getting my nails filled, I had to go back because three of my nails chipped. I went in to get them fixed and they did not charge me at all! They fixed my nails for free! That in itself, will have me coming back! read more

Tina is the best! She did a fantastic job with my nails and it was less than an hour for a full set ombré. Recommend an appointment but if you need to walk in, early morning weekdays are not too busy. Tina was kind and helped me pick the right color and made me and my mom feel very welcome. Love! My first time since high school (over 10 years ago) getting acrylics and it came out super cute! I wanted the almond tips and get ombré but the lady who knows how to do it wasn't there. So I opted for baby pink with a rose gold glitter accent on the ring finger and boy, did they come out cute! Can't wait to come back next time for the ombré! All the ladies that work there are super sweet. And the pedicure massage was amazing. For a few extra bucks, go for the Deluxe Pedi. You won't regret it! Oh and I couldn't decide what colors to get so the lady painted 10 different colors on her nails! Like I said, LOVE! read more

Tao and her staff do great manicures, pedicures and full sets. I come here regularly for shellac manicures and pedicures. They have a great color selection and they aim to please. They have squeezed me in when I am running late and Tao is always sweet and picks the most awesome colors. Their prices are reasonable. The salon in clean and open so there isn't that smell that some nail salons have. I look forward to coming here to relax. read more

Absolutely loved my experience at Lena's! The ladies here are attentive, careful, kind and beyond sweet. I had called in for an appointment for my friends and i & they called me the day of to remind me of my appointment. When we arrived, they automatically got us seated and worked their magic. The salon itself didn't have that chemically smell that most salons do, so that was a major bonus. I had Tina and she was so sweet. I had ask for a fill on my previous acrylic set. She had noticed my previous set was very thick and took her time (like 20 mins) filling them down and making sure they were to my liking. I did not feel rushed and she took her time. She even did my cuticles and under-nail, which my previous salon didn't do. She explained everything to me, which I found super nice because I'm still a newbie for nails. Overall has a great experience at Lena. My friends like their ladies too! Tina was super kind and took her time on my nails. Best of all! My fill came out beautiful and was only $30! read more

How much for gel pedicure?
What is the age requirement?
I was just there and a young girl was there was getting a pedicure. With room for error, I'd guess maybe 6th grade or middleschool age group
How much is dip powder?
Do they accept walk ins?
Yes! They are really good at accommodating walk-ins and if they aren't able to seat you immediately, they will suggest a later time for you to come back. However, if going on a Saturday, it is recommended you make an appointment.
